  1. Ok, thanks everyone for the help. So I think I’ve got it mostly figured out. It was not a problem with any of the computers, but a bad ground connection. When I tested my DLC for ground with my bolt meter, I found the same strange readings I got on the starter relay. 0.5V key off or in accessory and 10V key on. So I ran an auxiliary ground directly to the starter relay ground and that solved my starter issue, but I still wasn’t getting fuel until I grounded the ground wire on the back of the DLC with a separate auxiliary ground. Now the only issue I have left is I have no communication at the transmission unless I have something plugged into the DLC when the car is started. Plugging or unplugging after the car is started seemed to have no effect. But as far as I’m concerned, the car is driveable now. Thanks
  2. Wow thank you very much, that will definitely come in handy! I made a mistake in the original posting. The relay I checked thinking it was for the starter was the wrong one. The starter relay is not activating. On the coil side it shows a voltage (I don’t remember the exact readings, but it showed either a 5V ref or 12V) I bypassed the relay (switch side) to test the starting circuit and everything seemed to turn over fine. So I guess it’s down to something causing the ECU to prevent the engine from starting. I’m guessing it’s gotta be something with the immobilizer, but it’s gonna be difficult to find out for sure without OBD2. I won’t have the resources I need to diagnose/repair the OBD2 problem until Monday. Is there any way to test the integrity of the ECU with the vehicle in this state?
  3. So last weekend I impulse bought a 2007 Legacy GT sedan A/T The previous owner sold it to me cheap because he got half way through a turbo swap and gave up. Well I got everything under the hood settled, but when I went to start the car, there’s no response at the starter. - I noticed there’s a problem with the stereo, bad connection or something that makes it flicker on and off, - there’s a “CrimeStopper” aftermarket keyless entry and remote start in it. The battery in the remote of dead. - everything besides the remote start appears to be stock - the OBD2 port loses power in the key-on position so I can’t scan the car. - the battery was dead when I bought it, so there won’t be any code history - the “” icon is flashing in the cluster - the starter relay clicks, and there is power at 30 and (85 or 86) (Now that I think of it, the starter relay might be normally closed? Is that normal?) - I bench tested the starter, verified power at the starter positive cable, and turned the engine over by hand so I’m pretty sure everything is good under the hood So as my first step I disabled the stereo and started uninstalling the remote start I’m not sure what my next steps should be. I’ll probably try to trace the starter circuit. Anyone have any idea what the issue could be? Or what I should check? If I can swap a part out for something off my ‘06 M/T wagon to get my sedan running, that is an option I have. (Never posted to this site before, but figured I’d give it a try considering this issue is a little out of my comfort zone.)
