  1. I have a 2016 Legacy premium that has one year left on the extended warranty...Just paid off and kinda like not having a payment since the car sits out on the street under a cover and not driven much since retirement at the first of year...I like the new Legacy XT model but I can't handle the leather interior...I have a allegery to the smell of it so all my cars have cloth or one has vinyl....My question is can I order a XT with cloth? The website says no but just wondering if there's a way around it or just ask the dealer if they could switch the seats out for cloth? Probably will get one next year if this is doable.......

    Thanks....

  3. Small annoying problem but since I've had this car since new the clock always runs a minute slow...I don't drive it much anymore being retired but when I get in it I have to set the clock forward one or two minutes...Been like that for the last four years...Also the recirculating button will sometimes stop and I feel fresh air coming in so gotta press the button back on...Same thing since new....Just checking if anyone else has this small annoying problems.....
  4. Just wanted to update this thread.

The claim was rejected on the damage a couple years ago.

I've had continual issues with the finish on the car not taking wax correctly and wax coats and sealers looking greasy and streaky especially on the hood roof and trunk when the car heats up. Pretty much said "eff it" and just washed in in the coin wash since then.

My financial situation has significantly degraded since then, and I now work from home so I don't need my commuter. I'm trying to sell the car and the buyers are balking at the paint issues and offering me 2-3000 less for the car. I'm asking "fair" kbb already for the car.

One guy found rust already on the rear quarters just inside the door where the bottom of the door gap is. Looks like it got sandblasted to the metal with gravel.

I thought I submitted pictures already but will update with the damage and where the rust is starting, someone might be able to catch it and stop it on theirs.

Try Carmax...Go online and make a appointment to have your car appraised....Takes about 45 minutes...Back in December of 2019 I was on vacation and had the Subaru dealer give me a trade in appraisal...6k...Went to Carmax and they offered 9,000...I still have the car and it sits on the street with a car cover as I retired and drive my play cars around now....

  5. Just had my battery replaced on Tuesday...AAA battery service came out and installed a group 25 battery....142.50 and half hour later it was done...Been acting up since January...I was listening to the radio while installing a new battery on the 1990 Mustang LX 7-up convertible...Had to jump start it with the Mustang...Drove it for 15 minutes then had Oreilly's test it...They said everything was good...Since I retired I don't drive everyday...I noticed if it sat more than three days it was getting harder to start...I drove it on Thursday and then went out this Tuesday and no start...I could have jumped started but just called to get it done and not worry about it anymore...Even though the tech hooked up to the ecu to hold the memory I stilled had to reset the auto windows...Noticed my trip mileage had reset also.....Everything else was okay....
  6. Don't forget that this CVT is warranted for 10 years and 100,000 miles in the USA and Canada. Cost to replace is the inconvenience.

Further, this is an exceptional situation. Failure happens to anything mechanical, and this is the first report on this 6th Gen forum of anything like this. I'd be more concerned at multiple incidences.

If you want to answer questions about overall reliability, read the reviews on Cars.com or Edmunds or Consumer Reports for a more balanced view.

Isn’t 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first? Mine has 82,000 miles and is a 2016.. Course I bought the extended warranty when I bought it new...

  7. Almost retired from work I was thinking don't need a commuter car...Went to local Subaru dealer for trade in and they offered 7,000.... SOA guranteed trade in is 12475 at 45,000.... I have just under 82000 miles ...2016 Legacy Premium 2.5 auto with aftermarket wheels and tint...Lapis Blue...Grant it I was at the dealer looking Subaru Legacy 2019 Legacy base because of 0% finance....But decided it's worth more....On Thanksgiving little sister told me to try Carmax...So Black Friday I made an appointment and went in....Appraised at 9,000...Good for seven days....Was very happy....Just haven't decided what to get...Leaning toward a new Mustang GT...Lots of deals over this past weekend...Could be that SoCal area pricing is different than other places in the country....I'm guessing the Subaru dealer low balled me to make money on the deal.....
  8. I have 80,000 miles on my 2016 Legacy 2.5 in Lapis Blue...Bought new with extended warranty....Was in the shop last year for a engine noise that took the dealer almost two weeks to repair and then another week for repaint of rear bumper they scratched...Wind noise from left front door even after TSB replacement of seal...Get 30 mpg with my daily drive of 84 miles over two mountain ranges...Road noise went down a lot after getting rid of the Goodyear tires to Michleins....Tempted to trade in even after a transmission shop told me it would cost 8,000 to replace the transmission when warranty runs out...Probably get rid of it before warranty runs out.....
  9. I replaced mine @ 100k and used the Advance Auto Parts Wearever Platnum:

    https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/carquest-wearever-platinum-professional-ceramic-brake-pads-front-4-pad-set-pxd1089h/10143723-P

My break use is different than most.

I drive 50k per year, 95% highway, so not much heavy breaking.

Still happy with the Wearever Platnums.

Good bang for the buck for me.

Be ready to deal with the rear e-brakes.

There is at least one other thread discussing brake pads you can read through:

    https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/brake-pads-rotors-241413.html?t=241413&highlight=break+pad

WOW! I'm at 75k and three years old and thought I drove a lot....Still on original brake pads and rotors.....

  10. I'm on my third belt....First one was replaced at 37,000 miles...No charge as the dealer didn't fix it the first time I brought it and had to bring it back five minutes after leaving...Next belt was replaced at 59,000 with new tensioner installed...Again no charge as this different dealer claimed they couldn't duplicate the constant squeak noise under acceleration...Ten minutes after I left the dealer the noise was there...I brought it back and left it running and revved it up....Needless to say the service writer was embarassed....Had the tech fix it right in the service row where I left it...At 75,000 miles with finger crossed...
