  1. I bought a 2024 Legacy Sport this past July...MSRP was 35450....We offered 33500 which they refused...Then offered 34k which they took...Always offer something less than sticker price...All they can say is no...Out here in Southern California Legacys really don't sell so they were glad it sold because it sat in the showroom for a few weeks..If you can wait the Legacy will be redesigned for 2025......

Fixed a squeaking trunk lid on a 2022 model. The squeak was coming from somewhere in the hinge mechanism, both when opening and closing the lid. The source of the sound turned out to be at the linkage piece between the torsion rod and the curved hinge piece to which the lid is bolted. Specifically, it was at the pivoting joint where the link connects to the hinge. The solution was to copiously spray those joints, left and right, with white lithium grease, both in a fully open and in a half open position. You want to make sure that enough grease penetrates into the gap between the two moving parts. To gain access, I unclipped the fuzzy quarter panel trim pieces and curved them towards the center of the car. The plastic trunk sill trim also needs to be out of the way to do this. All trim is held with Xmas tree push pins.  To remove the cargo hooks in upper corners, rotate them 1/4 turn into horizontal position and then pull out.

I had the same problem with my 2022 Legacy Sport...Was scheduled for service to fix it and oil and filter change...Instead I traded it in for a 2024 Legacy Sport in Pearl White after owing three blue Subarus...

  3. I went thru this process this year....First with a 2016 Legacy Premium...Original owner and always dealer serviced..Had 95k miles on it.Sold it to Carvana for 12,100 back in March..Carmax offered 9k and Kirby Subaru of Ventura offered 7,500...Bought a 21 WRX Premium CVT thru Costco Auto program..After three months just couldn't handle the bumpy ride.....Sold it to CarMax for 30k in July.Even the Subaru dealer told me to sell it to Carmax for more money.....Now have a 22 Legacy Sport...Miss the power but love the smooth ride ......When I sold the 2016 Legacy back in March to Carvana they wanted three things: driver license, clear title and a picture of the mileage...Since I still owed on the 21 WRX I didn't even bother checking with them....I did consider a 21 Mustang GT but Ford raised the price almost 4k from March to July the way I wanted it equipped so I picked the Legacy again....Figured I lost 2k in the trade in of the WRX after getting the refund on the extended warranty I bought with it...
  4. Got rid of the 2016 Legacy Premium in March of this year because it was coming up on expiration of extended warranty and wanted to try a WRX. Plus Carvana gave a great price I couldn't pass up....

WRX with CVT in world rally blue is great in sport mode, handles corners great..

The overall ride though is harsh, feel every bump in the road and collects road dirt on the rear end...I figure the 40 series tires and it being a sport sedan contributes to this...

Looking to get back into a 2022 Legacy Sport in Abyss Blue...Yes I'll miss the fun factor of the WRX but not the harsh ride....My 1990 Mustang convertible rides the same as the WRX....Currently 2022 are slowly coming out and Costco Auto program doesn't offer their authorized dealers to do anything...I bought the WRX thru Costco Auto program and was a no hassle process...State of CA penalizes buyers who bring in new cars from out of state....Just be patient and wait till the time is right to get another Legacy.....

  5. Just like to say thanks to everyone here for the last five years while owning my 2016 Legacy 2.5 premium....I sold it to Carvana couple weeks ago and have a 2021 WRX CVT premium....Fun little car but key word is little...It's a sport sedan so you feel every bump but handles great...Still in break in mode so haven't tried sport mode.....The Legacy was a nice riding car and did it job for me the first four years of ownership getting me to and from work...Since retiring I only drove it 9k miles so decided to get a fun car for around town car....Dealer was going to give me 7500. Carmax was 9k. Carvana gave me 11k so I took it...Had 92k on it and always dealer serviced...This is a great source of info and great people...Just saying thank you.......
  6. Got AAA to replace my battery March of 2020....Tuesday was at the dealer to check the brakes which were fine but battery was bad....Got home and called AAA....45 minutes later they were out installing another battery....Group 25 batteries the tech said aren't a big turnover ...My old one had a date of 1/20 on it.....The new one says its 11/20....First three years free replacement and then two years after that prorated....2016 Legacy Premium 2.5 with 89800 miles.....
  7. I still have my original front brakes with just over 88k miles on it.. Had the rears replaced at 77k last year..Since new I drove 86 miles round trip all freeway.. This January I retired so now all local city driving...

Update: Just had the car at the dealer(Subaru of Sherman Oaks CA)..They said the front brake pads are at 8mm and rears at 6mm...I'm at 89,800 miles and now just drive locally as been retired for a year....They did find my AAA series group 25 battery was bad...Was replaced in March 2020 by AAA so called and got a free replacement......Tech from AAA didn't believe it was bad until he tested himself....He did state group series 25 is not a fast mover which could explain how my battery went bad.....Ironic the replaced battery has a sticker of 11/20 on it ......

  8. Got the Legacy back today.. They buffed the top corners of both headlights.. When I dropped off the car on Monday I had the headlights on and showed the headlights are cloudy on the inside..Service advisor saw it.. They didn’t do anything about that part.. Service advisor was off .. I talked to the service manager and he said all they were supposed to do is the tops..I showed him and he kept insisting they were suppose to do the tops only.. He would talk to his advisor Wednesday.. I called SOA and filed another complaint...
  9. My passenger side is justttt started to get a little cloudy right on the top part...and I have a 2017. No extended warranty. It is what it is :/ cloudy headlights really ruin the look of a car in my opinion.

Agree but if you turn on your headlights yours are probably cloudy on the inside right where the headlights shine thru...Dealer did ask if I had replaced the headlights bulbs with aftermarket ones....I said no they're still the originals....It now becomes a safety issue as the headlights aren't bright enough with the cloudy problem..

  10. Have cloudy headlights on the top portion of both of them...Contacted SOA and opened a case.. Dealer looked at it last week and will “try something “ to fix it on Monday afternoon...Got the extended warranty so covered either way.. Saw a 2015 Legacy today at the local post office and their headlights were worst than mine..They didn’t have extended warranty..
  11. Thanks for the input.. The Mustang did have leather but being a convertible I got it with sun baked upholstery.. Bought vinyl upholstery from TMI industries which was a lot cheaper than leather..I know anything possible but just finding a dealer that would go the extra mile is the key.. I could order one , then ask the dealer to swap it out on a base or premium model. I would get credit for not taking the leather seats but also have to deal with the air bags that are installed .. Or maybe just buy another premium or wait for the Mazda 6 that will be rwd..
