  1. how many have tried TH's tune on their legacy stateside?
  2. That's because they are "pre-aimed" by Subaru to illuminate corners as you turn. Apparently they thought they could slip that by and make them blink on when turning and call it "steering responsive" and we'd all be fooled into thinking they actually move like in higher end cars...well, I guess it worked, because even the tech guy at my dealer was thinking that it meant they move, until I clarified for him. :eye roll:
  3. i installed the 4300 kit in my 2016 today. The lights look nice, once they warm up. For about 30 seconds the light is blueish. Also, the ballast makes a slight buzz that I don't care for. I only notice when the hood is open and the engine is off.
  4. regarding color temp, here's a thread that explains how 5000k and below is best: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?206640-Colour-temperature-in-HID-lamps Also, there is a reason that our eyes actually are able to use a warmer light better than cool lights, but I cannot find the source I read so you can take my word for it or not. has anyone tried the XD HID high beam kit? do they dim for DRL (can HIDs dim?)? would the color stay constant?
  5. My dealer seems to think swapping the crank pulley is no big deal. Said swapping out the air intake for a CAI would be fine as long as it isn't low enough to suck up a puddle. He said the only thing that we really shouldn't mess with is the ecu and the exhaust. Edit: for clarification, I called my dealer and asked to speak to their technical warranty guru and asked him plainly about all the mods I was considering, including those above. I haven't done anything yet so it was all straight talk, what can and can't I do without getting in trouble with the warranty. Obviously, they won't fix what a funky mod broke, but says the burden of proving that the mod was at fault is on them, and one component in a chain (e.g broken oem end link after installing larger RSB) will not roundly kill coverage or related components (eg control arms) forever. Fix the broken link yourself and all is well.
  6. Has anyone tried a lightweight crank pulley yet? Grim speed and Cobb make them for us.
  7. I don't believe the 2.5 in any trim come with HID in the US. Only the H6 does. The 2.5 premium and limited headlights are the same.
  8. The Morimoto Type T lights don't fit in the 2016 legacy with eyesight without modification. I just tried. The brackets are just a little off on the engine side. One bolt hole on the bracket could be cut off and then it may fit well, but for my money, they need to fit perfect or they're going back. I did not take apart the bracket of the OEM light, like andrew_l_s did in the picture he attached from his install, and I expect if he had not accidentally broken the "bolt holes" (engine-side of brackets) it may not have worked either. I'm pretty miffed that the Morimoto website specifically said this model would fit.
  9. I just installed the SSD front strut bar on my 2016 2.5. I feel no difference at all. I ordered it as soon as I found it because on my past subarus (99 2.5rs; 97 OBSW) the strut bar made a huge difference. The good new is, the new legacy is way stiffer and doesn't need the support. The bad news is, I could have read around a little and saved myself $150 because this is not uncommon knowledge. I'm leaving it on until I begin looking for ways to reduce weight, as this steel bar is a lot heavier than my old alu and cf strut bar on my RS. So, there you go. I would not recommend this add-on. Cheers, a.
