  1. I just wanted to share a possible solution for the rear wiper problems. I have already dumped money into a new rear wiper motor and wiper switch that is located on the steering column. The next path was for me to examine wires or replace the BIU (Body Integrated Unit). I searched NASIOC that turned up nothing, but found a possible solution from the guys over at the Subaru Outback forum. Turns out the wires may be starting to crack in the flexible covering going between the body & rear gate. The main culprit is being reported as the yellow wire with a green stripe. More reading can be found here... http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=20718 More to come later when I start doing more investigating... Cheers, Mike PS: anyone need a used rear wiper motor and wiper stalk for a wagon?
  2. Um, So, I just replaced the wiper switch on the steering column and the wiper is still not returning to zero and stops at random spots when in intermittent mode. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Mike
  3. Looks like mine might be a bad switch at the stalk on the steering column. I just put in a new motor and it is still stopping at random times when in intermittent or turning off when wiper not at zero. Cheers, Mike
  4. My 05 wagon just started randomly stopping at different points along the swing of the wiper. Is the arms engagement to mechanism a separate part from the actually rear wiper motor? I have also verified that the nut holding the blade to the shaft is good and tight...and straight/level. I am wanting to get a better idea of the problem before removing the rear interior trim. Cheers, Mike
  5. I picked up some of those Osram and a new set of the recommended high beams (yes I use my high beams). I am happy with the improvement on both the low & high beams. I hope to see the longevity in these bulbs that others are reporting. I was replacing my stockers on an annual basis. Cheers, Mike
  6. Not sure if you ever got a fix in place, but I think the bar clamps are the same for both round and square. I have the same setup as you going on my wagon without any problems. Cheers, Mike

  11. My car was feeling left out of this thread and decided to turn off the lights and controls to the Radio & HVAC. Restart worked. Chris, is your HU still working properly? So, does keeping the AC off help? My problem is that I am at +40,000 miles now and stand no chance of getting this under warranty. Cheers, Mike
  12. I noticed that we have two fans on our cars. When I parked in our drive today, there was just one fan running. Is that normal or can be expected? Cheers, Mike
  13. A recall is a recall irregardless of mileage. My 4Runner had a recall for new rear suspension bumpers & maybe springs. Brought the 4Runner in with 130,000 miles and they changed everything out without any questions or concerns. Cheers, Mike
  14. Sweet pics! Did you get any sweet pics from Europe?
  15. So, with this MOD...can you turn on the main cabin dome light without turning on the map lights? My daughters like to read in the car when we are driving at night. Sorry if it was already stated and I missed it. Cheers, Mike
