  1. Just keep your eyes open for people selling whole setups on forums :) Like me :p:lol:

The whole reason I went with full factory integration is just to avoid the quirks that carPC's have. It really is nice to just jump in the car and it all works with little to no learning curve or hassle.

  2. I wanted to buy this

    http://store.mp3car.com/Direct_Fit_Double_Din_LCD_Touch_Screen_for_2005_S_p/dsh-020.htm

but i am worried about the spot for lcd in climate control's do not look the same should be a rectangle for spot but just a circle? anyone have any input

also does anybody on the forum sell bezels that I can put up top in the cubby for oem factory nav spot? or where could I buy a bezel like that?

also I am worried if I install my computer under the passengerseat that the usb cables will be too long and data quality will decrease. Any suggestions?

    thanks

I missed this post, sorry :p

That bezel will NOT work for a GT. That will only work on a 2.5i because they have single zone climate controls with knobs. You cannot custom fab the controls in there either because the actual climate controls are built into the radio unit itself. It's quite an involved process.

Dont worry about cable length, you wont have any issues running the wires all the way from the back of the trunk. Degredation doesnt play an issue here.

  3. I am installing my first car pc

I am planning to purchase this

    http://store.mp3car.com/Direct_Fit_Double_Din_LCD_Touch_Screen_for_2005_S_p/dsh-020.htm

as opposed to trying to custom make the bezel in the standard oem spot.

My first question is does anybody here on this board custom make bezels/lcd to put in that spot?

My second question is that if i get this computer...

    http://store.mp3car.com/Morex_Bundle_Mobile_Car_Computer_System_p/ccc-204.htm

and I mount it under the passenger seats are the usb cables going to be too long so that it causes signal loss and can have a negative impact on the entire system.

Thank you so much for the help and any further advice would be most appreciated.

You should just buy my CarPC in my FS thread ;) lol

Already has the custom fabbed stuff and all the cables.

  4. LGT 5eat car year? 05

IPT VB mod already performed? No

Are you willing to pay close to but less than IPT prices (perhaps again) for a proper shift kit modification performed by fellow 5eat performance enthusiast ClimberD himself?

I've been looking into this since I have a 16g turbo upgrade planned. I'm not planning on big boost but still have some concerns about the 5eat overall and especially if I'm beefing up the torque. Because of some more important and imminent projects I don't have anywhere near the $ available for the IPT price but somewhere I saw the figure of $250. That might be doable for a parts kit. Super if it also included labor.

That's not for a full setup, if you were interested in the full setup. The $250 price is doing the same thing that IPT does, add a spring and a resistor plus labor (if I read that correctly). The full kit would definitely be more than that. I think I read the trans-go kit alone was $250, add in labor and R&D and the project wont be anywhere near $250, but ClimberD did mention similar price (hopefully better) than IPT.

  5. But it's all speculation until I feel it for myself. I'll take Executor485 for a ride after. If it isn't so good, he will most certainly say so!:)

I'd like to consider myself an impartial party ;) I wont be ashamed to give you feedback either way. Considering I did have a 5EAT at one time as well, I've got a little memory of what it used to be like, and having ridden in your IPT VB and stock VB car I should be able to provide some useful feedback for the rest of the people here as well.

I'm hoping it wont be a waste of your time, and I really do think that you'll be able to offer a fantastic service if... what am I saying... WHEN you get the kinks worked out.

  6. Maybe I missed it in my reading, but will these be able to hold up to more power or just shift quicker? I picked up that faster shift times=less friction=cooler fluids/parts=longer life, but how would that relate to more power?

Definitely interested in a transgo kit for my 08 though when things work out.

ClimberD can jump in and clear it up if I'm wrong:

Changing a VB in itself wouldnt make the transmission hold more power, just like putting a short throw shifter on a 5MT wont make the clutch any stronger. The 5EAT is still bound by the laws of physics, and since you're not swapping out the clutch packs for the gears, it wont actually make the holding power any stronger. However, the maximum holding power will remain much longer, preserving the life of the clutch packs themselves.

  7. if you can build it to the standards you detail, you'll own the segment.

people here tend to get wet for ipt vb, because as you said, they're the basically only game in town.

i wouldn't worry about establishment v. individual; enthusiasts want pudding, period.

if you could offer a radically better performing product, at a competitive cost, with equal user install effort/downtime/reliability, i don't see any reason you couldn't become the go-to for what is already a fairly popular mod for power-hungry 5eat'ers.

I dont have a 5EAT, but I can attest to the high standards of ClimberD. If he says he's going to get something done and at standard X, you can be assured that it will meet or exceed that standard. While he may take a little longer on some aspects (ah... the external wastegate,) it is assured to be professional and perfect. He obsesses about things you will never see and that provide 0 gain, so when it comes to things that actually help performance or that you'll see, well you know where this is going.
