Did this fix to my 3.0R Outback. All fixed now. Total cost $1.50! Thanx to everyone here. Amazing what a little Googling can do. two seperate garages wanted to replace the steering pump and all the belts. IDIOTS!!!!

Got the same symptoms on my OB 3.0R. Growling when I turn the steering, disappears when it warms up. Going to try this fix today. I hope this works on the H6 engine! Will keep you posted.
