Got my Legacy Touring XT in Dec 2019 and would absolutely buy it again. Really like it! Agree with the others, the 504 software update certainly helps. Eager to see Android Auto in portrait mode, who knows if/when, but a guy can hope...

I've had my Touring XT for 3.5 months so far, and about 3,700 miles. I still love to drive it. I'm coming from a 2015 Legacy Limited (and a 2011 Sonata Limited before that). All the things you read in the forum have some truth in them. HOWEVER -- my personal experience is those are small things that in no way change my mind about how much I enjoy this car. It is such an improvement from the 2015 in so many ways. As in all forums, the posts are mostly filled with complaints about small stuff, as people that are generally happy with the cars are often not the most vocal in the forums. If I only read the forums without having the car, I'd be scared off. But as it is, I know what my reality is and read the forums with a grain of salt (including what you may choose to do with my own post, of course). It's true the stop/start is a bit annoying. But for me personally, it's no big deal. And turbo/CVT combo is not perfectly linear with its power output. But wow, so much more get up and go compared to my 2015. So much fun knowing there's so much acceleration just waiting to be asked! I don't happened to get flagged with very many false warnings on the driver alerts. And I actually like the controls as they are, without as many physical controls and a cleaner look. It works just fine as my most used things are easy. There are plenty of little things in the infotainment that should be made better, and are certainly able to be updated via software updates if Subaru chooses to do so. TBD whether they're interested/capable of doing that or not. And yes, you can turn off the screen. Although in night mode with the navigation, it's not so bright anyways.

Yeah, I had contacted SOA and was told the same. Agree with your point, a totally asinine UX design choice. You're driving in heavy traffic 10 minutes into your drive, time to turn down the seat warmers, and it's perfectly safe to go through some touch screens to achieve that. But showing the picture of a musician instead of a generic icon is somehow too dangerous when the car is moving. Really??? P.S. Despite some inexplicable engineering choices in the infotainment software -- I really do love my Legacy Touring XT and even like the infotainment system as a whole...

We had our 665 mile road trip this weekend. About 75% highway, 25% city driving. Faced a fair amount of wind on the way home today, so less ideal than my earlier short trip. And higher speeds overall (also less efficient). Car reported 28.7 average for the trip. According to gas pump calculations (I've checked 3 times now), the car report is on the generous side (higher MPG reported) between 0.75 and 1.5 MPG.

I felt kind of dumb not being able to turn on my headlights to high beam. Finally figured it out. Sharing here in case it's helpful. First thing to know -- The High Beam Assist Function (owners manual p. 244) kicks in when headlights are in the AUTO position, and when you try to turn on the high beams. This is actually pretty cool and works pretty well, as I could see my headlights changing from high to low to high again as oncoming cars passed. Except one thing I was frustrated by till I read more -- the high beams will TURN OFF unless you are going AT LEAST 20 MPH. (or, they will turn back off when you drop below 10 MPH) I was coming up our driveway and trying to turn on the high beams, to watch for deer. They would NOT turn on -- just stayed on low beams. Couldn't figure this out. Now I know -- it's because I was going less than 20 MPH. OPTION -- If you turn your headlights to the ON position instead of the AUTO position, then the high beam selector is fully manual and the above constraints are not applied.

Noticed an odd bug in the Bluetooth display of the Artist picture. Works fine when we're stopped. As soon as we start moving, the artist picture is replaced with a generic placeholder. Next stoplight, the Artist picture appears again. Then when we move again, it disappears again. I've emailed Subaru in hopes of adding to their list of fixes. Should be an easy one.

FWIW, I've done the same drive 2 more times since then. One reported at 31.4 MPG and one reported at 32.1 MPG. Still fine with that, but more realistic than that first one. We'll see what the road trip next weekend yields, with gas pump validation.

I know this won't be typical. As I mentioned, it was near ideal driving conditions, and only about 1.25 hours worth of driving. But I was a little surprised even under those conditions, so thought it was worth sharing. I sort of assumed it would top out at the rated 32 mpg highway.

Yes, agreed. (My previous cars reported optimistic numbers of about +1 or +1.5 mpg. For our upcoming road trip in a couple weeks, I'll try to calculate at the pump and compare...) Or I could just trust what the car says and be bliss

Loving the Touring XT so far, but only 250 miles to date (about a week now). Thought I would share -- drove a round trip of 76 miles today (about 1 hr 15 mins total). Mostly highway. Ideal conditions -- mild temps, no wind, etc. Admittedly small sample size, but approaching meaningful. Car reported: 34 MPG Nice surprise. I also am not going crazy on the RPMs/acceleration yet (first 1K miles). But still, that was a pleasant surprise. P.S. Road trip of 250 miles each way in 2 weeks. That will be a good test... I didn't buy the car for the MPG, and know it will be lower than my 2015 2.5i, but am happy to get something respectable.

My experience so far is aligned with all the online reviews I had read (from online sites, not individual owners). The XT has lots of pep and I love that. But it's not a sports car, has a little lag from the start line before the turbo kicks in. But not bad at all, and comparing the 2020 XT to my 2015 Limited (with 175 HP), no comparison. Heading into a hill, or ready for a pass, or whatever -- lots of quickness and ease. Loving the new feel. And personal taste, but i like the new stock wheels...

Thanks. That's a good reference. Certainly seems to be something that could be fixed with an Infotainment software update as was implied over there. We'll see if that actually happens, but one can hope

Wondering if I'm doing something wrong, or if this is a software bug. Only had my new Legacy for 48 hrs, but 2 or 3 times already, my audio Equalizer settings have been reset back to default (flat). Annoying. That happened once in a while (every couple months?) on my 2015, but twice in 2 days is not a good trend. Anyone else experience this? Or know of something I'm just being dense about? Thanks.

Thanks. No restrictions on the order. I went with "Popular package #2" and the Wireless Charger. The process was straightforward, if you don't mind the wait. I had decided on the XT, and gave in and splurged to go for the Touring this time. I do really like the inside with the Napa leather. The Touring XT is of course already loaded, so beyond that one package, I didn't spend much time considering additional options.

Happy to say -- the 2020 Touring XT I ordered on Oct 25, with first estimates of "January", was updated a few weeks ago to say "Dec 20". Cool. But as it turns out, it was even earlier than that and I took delivery yesterday (Dec 16). Merry Christmas! Obviously not much to report after only 95 miles, other than I love it and it is a real step up from my 2015 Legacy Limited in so many ways. And frankly, the auto stop/start doesn't really bother me. At this point, I'm not concerning myself with it. Wish it didn't have that feature, but not a big deal. (Nav system is much better than my 2015. Although I think this was true even the last couple years, not new this year. The voice commands work so much better. And you can now mute the audible nav directions (in my 2015, you could reduce the volume, but not mute all the way). Cool. It snowed the night before I went to pick it up, so of course it was dirty before even getting it home. Oh well

Congrats, subimp6u08. Very exciting. Similarly, I ordered a Touring XT and was told 'January', but just found out it is now scheduled for Dec 20. Like you, a nice Christmas gift! (and I'm taking vacation days, so will have plenty of time to go on some "new car break-in" drives around the area.

You can also open the trunk by pressing the button under the trunk lid, above the license plate. But you need the key fob nearby for that also, so that doesn't change your point. I've had my 2015 Legacy for 5 years and have never had that issue. Not concerned about it.

Indeed. And I'm okay with that, as long as we can share the vertical space with something useful in the lower half, such as Bluetooth / Spotify. I was thinking I saw that somewhere, that it was possible.
