  1. changed my timing belt with a kit today (everything including seals, tensioner and water pump), last sunday i had started to hear an odd sound and asked here and other forums about it, then on monday the engine died and would not start, cranked but no spark so took everything off and found that the toothed pulley for the timing belt had siezed and took the belt with it (blued the inner steel race!) replaced it and not the car had no odd noise, no odd bogging down when i give it gas and is quieter then when i got it!
  2. hi! heres my parts list: note: I didnt need the clutch set, they looked still perfect, but had them so in they went

    -31523aa430 clutch set

    -31363aa030 piston o ring

    -31337aa120 case gasket

    -31337aa010 - rear basket o ring x 2

    -31942aa070 valve

    -31952aa030 valve -plate

    -31954aa070 valve gasket x 2

    -806735070 rear output seal

job went awesome and easy, check your rear tranny mounts , mine were beyond done. good time to address them. I didnt have to take any exhaust off, (sti invidia) but stock you may have to seperate it somewhere

for some reason part # 31337aa010 crosses to 31337aa130, and part # 31954aa070 crosses to 31954aa071, when i search for the part # on subaru e-store same thing right just updated part# right?

  3. Hey guys! My '92 SS (159k miles) died yesterday morning. This is what happened and what I think. Look forward to some input.

So I headed off to work yesterday morning, currently have 1/3 tank of gas, and I thought it was a little weird when the car didn't immediately fire up as it always does, first try. Second try it fired up and ran fine. I let it warm up a little and headed of down the road. Just before I hopped on the freeway I gave it about 50% throttle and it sputtered, I was surprised. Got on it a few more times thinking it was an anomalie, but every time it sputtered and stumbled really bad, falling flat on its face, but it was hitting target boost and no CEL. I decided to not risk getting stranded and turned around to head home to grab the other car. I noticed that the sputter only happened when throttle input was more than, say, 30%, during cruising and relaxed acceleration the car ran fine. I put it in the driveway and turned it off, pulled the other car out of the garage and went to restart the SS to put in the garage. It turned over but would not fire.

Also, since this car is still fairly new to me (<2 months), I do drive her almost every day, and I have noticed a very little stumble between 3-4k rpms on initial WOT when first getting into full boost, but it runs fine the rest of the way to 6k rpms. If the fuel pump died, it would make sense that that stumble may be associated with the fuel pump not performing properly or reacting to the requested duty cycle quickly enough.

This morning I turned her on and didn't hear any fuel pump priming sound, but then again, I can't say I ever noticed it before, because the auto seat belts make a racket.

If it's the fuel pump, I will get a Walbro 255 (GSS341) with the 400-791 install kit or a DeatschWerks DW200 (9-201-0791) with install kit. Any recommendations either way? The price is comparable.

    Thanks!

yea my N/A did the same thing, was fine for short trips but if i got on it for any reason it said "nope" and died and every so often it died for no reason, turned out was my maf, either clean or replace, also pull the fuel pump relay and hold it to feel if it works, if it clicks then head to the pump and poke at that.

  4. I would clean your MAF with a can of MAF cleaner, about $6. It could be going bad. Is your fuel filter new as well? I would start with the MAF, then check the relay. When my MAF went bad I had a severe stuttering issue, but the engine would never die like yours. The fuel pressure regulator is just a little plastic thingy and it is probably OK.

I think I figured out that it is the harness on the maf, when I move the wires the care dies the same way it does on the road, so for now I zip tied the harness and the wires tight an it runs good, so I need to find parts to repair the harness

  5. i had to replace the fuel pump the other day(why do they have two types of pumps? 1 1/2 in and a 2in diameter), the engine would just die for no reason, cycle the key and bam back to moving, replaced it after having to go get the other pump and engine ran fine until i gunned it on a hill going 40 it died again, does this randomly now and i think it may be a relay another person said the pressure reg may be going out, and other forum post i read said he suspected the knock sensor. any ideas?
  6. i swapped out the stereo that was put in there (the sliding face was acting up not working) with an other after market and replaced the front speakers with some old pioneers we had in storage. also im hoping and praying that the ac compressor is just stuck and not seized so im going to head to the advance auto parts to barrow the clutch tool to try and rotate it my self, if all else fails what year compressor fit in a 93 legacy wagon N/A?
