    Notice the blast plates.

    It's under the car.

After the rain stops tomorrow I'll start installing it.

I did take some sand paper and rough up the matting surface, put a light coat of grease on the tranny snout, installed a new TOB, put some grease on the pivot ball, and the splines and tip of the input shaft for the pilot bearing.

    That's a sexy looking plate

  2. This is good news. I'm an auto guy. Too much stop and go for a stick. I have a real hard time believing what everyone says about the 5mt being junk. Its not like your pushing an ungodly amount of power and torque through the gearset. I am really excited for you max -I hope these blast plates work out for you.
  3. I'm still wanting to find out specifics about two lost engines to MMO, as well as how injector cleaners reduce octane and which then induce knock ...

Most cleaners have toluene/xylene in them. Those two solvents alone have an octane rating of 118/121. I used to run 3 gallons of toluene and or xylene and a splash of MMO to avoid burning valves in my 1998 Grand Prix GTP. Cheap race gas.

And just an FYI to OP, gasoline is technically solvent (fuel wash the cylinder walls). So how does one solvent 'displace' another?

  4. just read all 1300+ posts. Frank- thats great work man. I had a 1998 Pontiac Grandprix SE that had the 3100 in it back in highschool. One summer i saved up enough to grab an entire front subframe, eng trans, etc from a 2000 GTP and swapped it over, modded before installed. That car was an absolute blast, and eventually became the oh so deep money pit. I eventually blew the motor after putting some nitrous on it at the strip. Miss that thing. congrats.
