  1. Soon as i get my engine squared away, the reinforcement of my rear sway brackets will be done, and I will be going the trussets route.
  2. If you haven't already seen Sgt Gators thread you should check it out. He has some good data concerning oil temps with and without the tmic scoop. It seemed that with a fmic the scoop was detrimental to temps with his setup. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73859
  3. Awesome, Max! Hope this helps with the longevity of your trans.
  4. Well mostly for noise reduction and a little for how the pedal feels. Without those bushings in there you would hear a clunk as everything torques up in the caliper assembly when you touch the brakes. They also reduce the amount of retraction by the caliper piston, which gives the pedal a higher feel (less travel)
  5. Sil glyde is great stuff! I use it on all my brake jobs at work. Toyotas have this same problem. 9 times out of 10 uneven inner and outer pad wear and warped rotors is caused by those swollen slide bushings.
  6. You might see a difference in how fast the tires wear upfront?
  7. It acts as a heat extractor. Creates a low pressure area as air flow passes over the top which helps pull the heat from under the hood.
  8. Even though it's not being used it is still getting energy passed through it via the input and output shafts in trans.
  9. This is good news. I'm an auto guy. Too much stop and go for a stick. I have a real hard time believing what everyone says about the 5mt being junk. Its not like your pushing an ungodly amount of power and torque through the gearset. I am really excited for you max -I hope these blast plates work out for you.
  10. Need to do some blast plates if you're pulling it apart again. these help eliminate the case flex and provide a better mesh between gears. found the thread on nastycock. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2341424 a guy in our local subie club just had a build on a 14 rex, 700 horse through the 5mt
  11. I never used it on the dyno so I'm not sure if there were any gains made at the wheels, but I do know the car would run another degree or two of spark advance with no knock retard. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  12. Most cleaners have toluene/xylene in them. Those two solvents alone have an octane rating of 118/121. I used to run 3 gallons of toluene and or xylene and a splash of MMO to avoid burning valves in my 1998 Grand Prix GTP. Cheap race gas. And just an FYI to OP, gasoline is technically solvent (fuel wash the cylinder walls). So how does one solvent 'displace' another?
  13. Yeah I realize that. Still an awesome job and very unique. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
  14. just read all 1300+ posts. Frank- thats great work man. I had a 1998 Pontiac Grandprix SE that had the 3100 in it back in highschool. One summer i saved up enough to grab an entire front subframe, eng trans, etc from a 2000 GTP and swapped it over, modded before installed. That car was an absolute blast, and eventually became the oh so deep money pit. I eventually blew the motor after putting some nitrous on it at the strip. Miss that thing. congrats.
