  1. Judging by your location, fixt it for you.

I wish. It would be so easy outdoors here if allowed.

  2. wow that granite accent looks awesome. DIY??? if so.....how is that done?

Yes DIY and actually pretty easy. I did cement backer board around the fireplace and used a refractory cement which is heat resistant. Straight onto the drywall above with a standar thin-set mortar. I beveled the edges on the right side where the wall angles away so I didn't end up with a gap. We have bullnosed wall corners so I built a frame out of 1x2 for the niche to create a straight edge to apply it to. Only $8/ sq ft and no need to grout.

    Great business model.

They get granite scraps from builders and turn them into split stones. Keeps granite out of landfills, builders don't have to pay to dump it, franchisees make money and consumers can get (IMO) a pretty cool product as a reasonable price.

  4. I'll go ahead and revive this one. Wife and I just moved to Denver and bought a new home. Love that we get to pick projects based on wants and not needs to fix the mistakes and different taste of others.

Glass tile back splash in the kitchen two weeks ago. 8 electrical boxes made for many annoying small cuts.

  5. Going to be back in NorCal for the next couple weeks. Working in Foster City and staying with family friends in El Granada/HMB. I see plenty of coastal drives in my future!

Just cleared my headlights and installed HID's but still need to cover squirrel finders, install HID fogs and set them up independently. Anybody in the area with some tools and garage space that would be available to help?

  6. Right on, maybe we can organize a little drive or brewery get together while you're here.

Sounds good. Staying at the Crowne Plaza in Foster City for the next two weeks. Big fan of the Steelhead brewery in Burlingame. BJ's in FC is good too just for the crawl home factor.

  7. I spend quite a bit of time in the bay area for work. Going to be down here for 3 weeks this time so I decided to drive down (830 miles in 12 hours... thank goodness for my Escort!). Have noticed I get a lot more waves from subies (all WRX's so far)down here than in WA. IMO people down here are just more friendly in general. So if you see a QSM Spec. B w/ WA plates... Howdy!
  8. I've been on here off and on since I bought my OB in '05. I've gotten great use and enjoyment out of all the information available and this includes using the search feature. Is there a thread I haven't found dedicated to ouback mods and specific parts? Should there be?

When I first bought my OBXT I spent a day with the dremel and the bondo hacking up my grille and after 3 years I'd like a new one. I thought I remember reading that the LGT and OBXT have different grilles and the available aftermarket pieces will not fit an OB. If this is correct, does anybody else make one specifically for outbacks?
