I would say that's impressive, but you've had your car since very low miles right? I honestly don't trust the EJ25x motors for reliability, for me a reliable quick daily is better then a fast daily that's a #YNASB.
I have 120k miles already on the clock, have some oil consumption, though I think it's from a leaking turbo line (just don't have the time to pull the turbo to replace it). So I'm just driving it as is for now, at least until I replace the clutch with a single mass flywheel (or sell the car and get a Spec B ).
Holding off on the selling until I see how the legacy does with car seats. If it's horrible as a baby carrying machine, I might need to get a newer bigger Legacy....
I got it with 53k miles on it and have been driving it like I stole it lol and it now has 98k. I use it for work which I should have learned my lesson driving my fully built sti for work and blowing that engine after 60k miles but I have an addiction to subarus now and cant let go upgrading to a spec b isnt gonna change your car seat issue I dont think haha

Got ya.. understood but ive been running 18psi with a tune from bren tuning on the stock turbo and stock tmic with no bulletproof mod and have had no issues for over 40k miles of daily driving. Only reason I feel you're being alittle "safe". Either way if you throw the 16g on there I would hope you'd up the boost to take advantage nice car!
-
Any reason why your sig says 13.5psi stage 2? That seems awfully low to me...or maybe I dont know the whole story but im hitting 18.5psi stage 2 all day long!

Sounds like its not gonna be an easy find.. check the turbo inlet and intercooler. Otherwise if all looks good you might have to pressure test. You also could pull downpipe and check turbo for shaft play. Best of luck! Some things are easier to spot with these engines than others.
-
Pop the hood and start looking for something obvious first. Chances are if its that much of a leak then you can find it with your eyes. Otherwise use the tools to pressure test for leaks. Thats a start!
-
No, sorry. Still have a BNR 16G and a VBG1 boost/oil pressure gauge, though...
How much are you lookin for on the boost guage again?
-
Is the defroster vent pod available for a single guage yet?

when installing exhaust bits, downpipe, mid, y-pipe, etc is it advisable to replace original bolts with new ones? Most likely new parts ship with bolt kits but in the case of used parts, would you replace them?
yes

Dang haha it's currently my daily. But I don't have a garage yet. The smell is that over whelming?
I had catless on my wrx and my sti, and I never even noticed the smell. Unless its different on the legacy, I dont really understand where people smell it that much. But to each their own I guess! Plus catless is much much cheaper if you have an accessport you dont have to worry about cels or anything here in maryland emission wise. Other states are a bit more strict about it though
Edit also your tune might have something to do with the smell.. if its a rich tune, then you may smell it more than a not so rich tune.
-
Yes please talk about issues lol I'm debating on which downpipe to buy. Catted or catless. I wanna be cheap lol especially since I just ordered a process west TMIC.
Catless is the way to go in my opinion... on the other hand you should send that process west intercooler back and pick up a grimmspeed one... much much nicer if you ask me!

Seriously? Your car is begging for help, with serious engine and drivetrain issues... and rather than service it, you put on a GS AOS?
No wonder that it's falling apart after only 84,000 miles.
84,000 miles is hardly worthy of this thread to begin with.. mine has 86,000 and I havent had a single issue with anything yet. Good luck to this guy! Lol

I have a 2008 spec b with a turbo xs catless Downpipe' date=' Anyone looking to trade a catted downpipe for it? I am located in Fredericksburg VA. Also looking for an intake, and access port! thanks.[/quote']
Why do you wanna trade for catted?

Just did this on my 07 due to super cold weather here in maryland, and the rough idle and misfire codes. So far so good! Thanks for the detailed post!

Ehh I still think the engine that comes in the car sounds much better... impressive none the less though

Still waiting to see a 10 second time slip from a legacy period let alone a daily driver!

110K on 2007 Legacy GT Limited 5EAT. I've owned it for about 2 months now (bought with 107K on the odo). Car is immaculate. Only issue thus far is clunking noise over low speed bumps from rear driver side suspension.
Otherwise, no issues thus far. Running Cobb AP stage 1 (Brentuned) and the BP TMIC kit is going on this Saturday.
I am so impressed with the members of this forum. People have been so polite, nice and helpful. It truly is a breath of fresh air.
Saving up for a DP to go stage 2 though I'm nervous as I hear a lot of people saying it's not worth the hassle reliability wise.
But I did purchase a 4yr/46K mile extended service plan for my vehicle and I have a mod friendly mechanic and dealer so I feel pretty confident going forward.
I am running a downpipe with a stage 2 etune from brentuning and i couldnt be happier with the car/tune. You are in good hands with Bren tuning your car trust me mine runs great

Yes, my 07 lgt has the plug and it WAS wingless. Not sure why everyone hates the oem wing!
I love the factory wing on mine I wouldn't consider trading it out ever haha
