  1. It can be an issue with lots of Subi s over the years. I had 1 or 2 on my 08 Outback at 60K plus, then on my other 4 Subi s, 14,15,17 I have had no issues yet. I have had friend have two go out on their Outback with less than 10K on the car. So it is an issue for some but it s warrantied and a pretty easy fix. Other vehicle have issues too as theses parts are made by manufactures. Salty roads can bring it on sooner as can hitting lots of pot holes. I wouldn t make my choice on a car based on this alone.
  2. Thanks, Got the invoice on nADA . They have a 2% holdback on the WRX I m looking at. That's $700 dealer keeps. I don t see any other incentives on that specific model. So it s about $2 K off MSRP. That s about the most you can get if you can work at that #.

Any other info I ll take. Must be WRX specific as it s limited and Subaru will only do so much. 2.9%.

Called and got a $500 coupon from SOA also. Thanks.

  3. it shines the light in the dirction you need to be looking... don t have them on my subi but do on another vehicle and as stated they are great in the rural areas... wish my subi had them.

You think there would be a fuse the motor that moves them, if that's how they work?

this say s you have a switch to disable

  4. Subi s have had this issue since at least 08 when I had my first subi...

They have been correcting this for years. LOL.

Dealer price is probably around 400-500 hundred dollars to change one. A little annoying but not a deal killer for me... I think my 08 was about $300 to replace from a local shop that I trusted. Warranty is even better but it won t be the last one that goes.

  5. brake caliper bracket????

Probably something in the suspension, sway bar , shock etc... can you reproduce it by bouncing the car by hand when cold? Open the hood and do that and may be you can isolate it. I m sure it s nothing to worry about if everything is tight in the front end. Just annoying...

Someone mentioned that their trans ground cable line was hitting their air box. Mine was way clear of touching.

FYI/ Drivers side towards the rear of engine and goes from battery , under that side of the box and then I guess down to the trans...

  6. LS2 s with 30K just didn t look good enough for my snow belt area so I replaced with Mastercraft LSR all seasons. I have used them a few times before on my subi s and never had an issue. They are smooth , quiet, and long lasting.

I didn t think the LS2 s were the greatest in the snow.

FYI, just because they are not getting close to the wear bars doesn t mean they ll be acceptable in snow. There is a different thread depth measurement needed for snow. (Don t have my gauge here to give the numbers)

  7. Has anyone put the outback front bumper and suspension on their legacy yet, Creating any 6th Gen outback sedans, because I plan on doing it here over the winter. I am also looking for good solid wheels and the wheel thread seems to be only street wheels. So would anyone want to assist me in my project or tell me how dumb it sounds? Any known obstacles I will face with a suspension swap?

The only obstacles you will face will be cash.

  8. I have a 2015 2.5i Premium. It has 22k miles and next oil change is coming due. I just checked and I'm 1/2 quart low. I've read numerous posts on this forum regarding this issue. However, I haven't seen any thoughts on what is considered "acceptable" oil consumption.

I purchased the car new. The dealer offers free oil changes for life. So they've done all of them. I did the first "break-in" change at 1k. The second was done just under 6k on the ODM. I've always had the oil changed before 6k miles. Back on the 3rd (12k approx) oil change, I checked and the dealership had overfilled it which I had them remove the excess. Wife took it in for the last change (18k), so I didn't check when it was done.

Now that I'm over 20k, I thought I'd monitor it more closely. So is 1/2 quart every 5.5k normal? I see some post that 0 loss is normal. I'm also not getting near the advertise 36mpg rating. I'm getting 30 mpg, drive 38mi, freeway, each way to work. I do drive between 70-75mph most of the time.

your oil use is fine..If you change oil at 6K you ll never have to add any. 1/2 down is not a problem. You may see times you are not down the 1/2 also.

Drive 55-60 and you ll get closer to the 36mpgs for sure.
