  1. Donks: because your wheels should be worth 10 times as much as your car (and almost as heavy). This must be a continuation of that 90's fad of driving around in a $1K car with a $5K stereo. I remember seeing a Chevy or Geo Tracker with some bass but it vibrated the cheap piece of crap chassis of the vehicle.

I am trying to find a youtube video where some donk-driving idiot takes his car to the drag strip and when he gives the car some gas, the whole rear axle pops off and the wheel rolls down the track. Priceless.

  2. Again, you will not experience any significant power increase without an engine retune. You cannot just add a 3" exhaust and expect your ECU to automatically increase the boost just because of a decrease in back pressure. Your ECU is not just going to say, "hey, I sense an extra .5" in diameter and 2.16 in^2 of cross-sectional area so let me run some more boost, increase the A/F ratio, and advance valve timing so we can get more power." It requires a reflash. This is the same reason why running an aftermarket DP will not yield any significant gains unless you reflash.
  3. ^^Actually, when an aftermarket exhaust company makes claims about their exhaust system, 9 times out of 10 the gains are the result of revised engine tuning so that the engine can take advantage of the larger exhaust diameter. So that fart can on the back of the 91 civic does not add anything in terms of power.

I chose to hawgzaust my car for my personal pleasure and also to enhance my driving experience. Unlike honda engines and other inline 4 engines, ours have some great sounding exhaust and are often mistaken for larger V6 or V8 engines. I have been asked many times if I have a V8 under the hood or why does my car sound like a race car yet I do it for my own enjoyment. And on a second note, the stock exhaust is way too soft for me and it is easier for me to drive the car well when I can hear the exhaust. It lets me know when to upshift or downshift without looking at the tach. And I know I could have bought an aftermarket system but I don't think its worth it to spend $800+ for something that will yield little performance gains unless I upgrade my turbo.

  4. Back on topic, I guess...

When Chuck Norris falls in water, Chuck Norris doesn't get wet. Water gets Chuck Norris.

When Chuck Norris does pushups, he doesn't lift himself up. He pushes the world down.

  5. Finally got the tech at merchants to loosen my bolts and did the Hogzaust last night. My favorite is the muffler delete option-the car sounded more like an LS1 than an EJ25 engine. Then, took it to stage two and I thought it was a bit too loud. Left it at stage one which sounded just right but since I was in a condo garage, it was much quieter when I was above ground. Taking it back to stage two tonight!
  6. dang man...im sooo sorry....i guess everyones subaru differes.....what year is yours....or better yet, where do you live.

temperature play a big role in the rusting process

It is an 05' and I live in Washington DC, the freaking capital of humidity! Great idea to build a city in the middle of what used to be a swamp. Probably why it is so rusted out.

nice. My dad thought it through when he built our house. 3 car garage with real high ceilings and rather than just putting flooring for the 2nd floor above he had Ibeams run across it. We used to have an antique wooden boat and we could hang it in the garage so we could paint and work on it off the trailer. Can also pull an engine out of a car with the I hooks in the ceiling with the winch

My dream home will be fairly modest but will have a huge garage that is probably the same size as the house with a pit, air lines, and every tool imaginable. Sounds like you have a great setup with the ibeams overhead. I am trying to convince my father to restore a classic car after he retires and building the perfect garage will be half of the fun.

  7. Heh, my dream home would include a nice garage with lots of space for tools! Unfortunately, I am in a condo and I don't have tons of space but I do have storage. You should see the area in front of my parking space - two 350z rims, hose/cleaning equipment, mountainbike, tire air compressor, etc. Might go and try to get into the machine shop at my alma mater and borrow their compressor and air tools.
  8. you're just getting rid of the SPT intake? yeah i think i'm going to buy one.. i don't know what type. but just how "noisy" was it?

It has been gone for awhile...I reinstalled the stock box and put in an AVO drop in. The intake whoosh is still audible with the AVO, but much more subtle and tasteful. With the SPT intake, the whoosh was more like a loud sucking/wheezing noise. At lower engine speeds, the SPT intake noise would stutter a little bit and it kind of sounded like an old vacuum. At mid and higher engine speeds, the whoosh was louder but much more consistant and enjoyable. Overall, the sound was intrusive and not even that pleasant. The only thing I liked was the extra growl at full throttle.

  9. Just wondering, I installed an SPT intake/heat shield on my 05 leggy and it is a little too noisy for my tastes. I am going to reinstall the factory air box and am deciding between the Blitz LM and AVO drop in filters. Does anybody have any recommendations between the two? I know performance will most likely be identical between the two (and the stock setup, for that matter), but I am looking for something with a bit more engine sound than stock but not as much as a cold air intake. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
