  1. Hey, I thought all good paint jobs only cost $400....for the bumper.
  2. Car: $800 Paint Job: $400 Stereo: $3000 Suspension Lift: $1000 26" Dubs: $3000 Total value of car: $0
  3. Donks: because your wheels should be worth 10 times as much as your car (and almost as heavy). This must be a continuation of that 90's fad of driving around in a $1K car with a $5K stereo. I remember seeing a Chevy or Geo Tracker with some bass but it vibrated the cheap piece of crap chassis of the vehicle. I am trying to find a youtube video where some donk-driving idiot takes his car to the drag strip and when he gives the car some gas, the whole rear axle pops off and the wheel rolls down the track. Priceless.
  4. Again, you will not experience any significant power increase without an engine retune. You cannot just add a 3" exhaust and expect your ECU to automatically increase the boost just because of a decrease in back pressure. Your ECU is not just going to say, "hey, I sense an extra .5" in diameter and 2.16 in^2 of cross-sectional area so let me run some more boost, increase the A/F ratio, and advance valve timing so we can get more power." It requires a reflash. This is the same reason why running an aftermarket DP will not yield any significant gains unless you reflash.
  5. ^^Actually, when an aftermarket exhaust company makes claims about their exhaust system, 9 times out of 10 the gains are the result of revised engine tuning so that the engine can take advantage of the larger exhaust diameter. So that fart can on the back of the 91 civic does not add anything in terms of power. I chose to hawgzaust my car for my personal pleasure and also to enhance my driving experience. Unlike honda engines and other inline 4 engines, ours have some great sounding exhaust and are often mistaken for larger V6 or V8 engines. I have been asked many times if I have a V8 under the hood or why does my car sound like a race car yet I do it for my own enjoyment. And on a second note, the stock exhaust is way too soft for me and it is easier for me to drive the car well when I can hear the exhaust. It lets me know when to upshift or downshift without looking at the tach. And I know I could have bought an aftermarket system but I don't think its worth it to spend $800+ for something that will yield little performance gains unless I upgrade my turbo.
  6. I think that it was originally a skit on Conan O'Brien and it became a hit.
  7. Back on topic, I guess... When Chuck Norris falls in water, Chuck Norris doesn't get wet. Water gets Chuck Norris. When Chuck Norris does pushups, he doesn't lift himself up. He pushes the world down.
  8. Amen. Not to threadjack, but I went to Farrish Subaru this past Saturday to take an '09 Spec.B out for a drive and they gave me a Chick Fil a lunch takeout box (they have catered lunch every Saturday), so I was able to enjoy both Chick Fil a and Subaru at the same time.
  9. That would be enough for me to move to another part of the country! Seriously, my two obsessions in life are Subarus and Chick Fil A.
  10. Just wondering the part number for the trim strip that goes across the right rear door for an 05 LGT.
  11. I just went stage one on my AP with a silencer delete and stage 2 Hogzhaust and I pulled 535 awhp on the dyno
  12. Hogmeat, went stage two the other day and damn, that is a nice sound! I was the quietest car at a charity track last September but tomorrow that will definitely not be the case. Just hoping my AP comes today!
  13. Finally got the tech at merchants to loosen my bolts and did the Hogzaust last night. My favorite is the muffler delete option-the car sounded more like an LS1 than an EJ25 engine. Then, took it to stage two and I thought it was a bit too loud. Left it at stage one which sounded just right but since I was in a condo garage, it was much quieter when I was above ground. Taking it back to stage two tonight!
  14. Hehe Home Depot - got the galvanized stainless and I bought a few extras which is why they were so expensive. CTATV - don't forget to include a 3/4 mi test track around your property to test drive your new upgrades.
  15. It is an 05' and I live in Washington DC, the freaking capital of humidity! Great idea to build a city in the middle of what used to be a swamp. Probably why it is so rusted out. My dream home will be fairly modest but will have a huge garage that is probably the same size as the house with a pit, air lines, and every tool imaginable. Sounds like you have a great setup with the ibeams overhead. I am trying to convince my father to restore a classic car after he retires and building the perfect garage will be half of the fun.
  16. Heh, my dream home would include a nice garage with lots of space for tools! Unfortunately, I am in a condo and I don't have tons of space but I do have storage. You should see the area in front of my parking space - two 350z rims, hose/cleaning equipment, mountainbike, tire air compressor, etc. Might go and try to get into the machine shop at my alma mater and borrow their compressor and air tools.
  17. Help! I bought an electric impact wrench on ebay, used pblaster, and it still wouldnt budge! I guess I need to have a shop torch em off like bigb! Total cost of Hawgzaust - Impact Wrench - $42 Liquid Wrench - $5 PBlaster - $5 8 Washers - $2 Total - $54! I guess at least I expanded my tools and chemical collection.
  18. just got some pblaster and picked a cheep electric impact wrench off of ebay. Hopefully it will arrive by Saturday so I can get my hog on.
  19. Thanks for the advice, I will give that a shot this weekend. Heard a stage two hogzaust at a subaru bbq in VA this past weekend and I was hooked! Can't wait to get mine installed.
  20. Damn, my bolts are rusted on! Tried my longest torque wrench, liquid wrench, and almost fried the motor on my cordless drill! Help! I guess I need to find someone with air tools since a breaker bar would probably bend my exhaust hangers.
  21. ARctec, I sold it to someone in New Jersey on the forum. Lost about $100 in the end, but it was a fun little project that was minimally invasive.
  22. It has been gone for awhile...I reinstalled the stock box and put in an AVO drop in. The intake whoosh is still audible with the AVO, but much more subtle and tasteful. With the SPT intake, the whoosh was more like a loud sucking/wheezing noise. At lower engine speeds, the SPT intake noise would stutter a little bit and it kind of sounded like an old vacuum. At mid and higher engine speeds, the whoosh was louder but much more consistant and enjoyable. Overall, the sound was intrusive and not even that pleasant. The only thing I liked was the extra growl at full throttle.
  23. Just wondering, I installed an SPT intake/heat shield on my 05 leggy and it is a little too noisy for my tastes. I am going to reinstall the factory air box and am deciding between the Blitz LM and AVO drop in filters. Does anybody have any recommendations between the two? I know performance will most likely be identical between the two (and the stock setup, for that matter), but I am looking for something with a bit more engine sound than stock but not as much as a cold air intake. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
