  1. Update:

Got a voice mail from my dealerships service department today, after stopping by yesterday for my ECU issue (see pg/37 of this thread to see what happened yesterday) and they want me to drop my car of on Monday morning and they will give me a rental while they send out my computer for a few days. I have yet to speak with the service manager since the voice mail to get any further details of what SOA had to say, etc. However I will obviously speak with him on Monday morning.

Hope this works out for the best......apparently my car must be affected if the VIN was selected as well...I will be asking if thats the case or if they are accepting ALL 05 LGT's, no matter the VIN # or build date.

    Stay Tuned....

  2. If you don't hear something back in the affirmative. then get on the horn to 800-Subaru3 and open a case on your issue. Then, ask them what they're doing about it? By now, the ECU reflash ought to be corporate "memory" within the Subaru Customer Service help desk.

I called them yesterday when I got back from my dealership. I spoke to someone in Customer service and he said "I have NEVER heard of this issue yet" and I told him, are you kidding? I said I have heard of HUNDREDS of people with this issue. He went on to explain that it is my "dealers" job to find out whats wrong then if they cant find an issue to contact their "Tech Line".....which they should be doing this morning.

To reference, I called 1800-782-2783 ...which i believe translates to 1800-subaru3.

Thanks, I appreciate your help.....a lot.

  3. Went to my dealer today and spoke to them about the ECU and my "studdering", which I should honestly say isnt as bad as some have stated, but it is there and worth trying to get taken care of, especially since i spent a pretty dime on the car as did we all.

The deal was curious to what the whole issue was. The seemed interested, yet skeptical. I offered to bring them for a ride after describing the issue and they said "no need, we believe you". They hooked up their computer to my car and could not pull any codes.....which i explained would be the case anyhow. The service tech went on trying to explain how he is not surprised however how difficult it can be to get an issue resolved when they have no codes off of my car to go from. He then went to say that the only next step is to call SOA and see if there are any other related issues and how they got resolved.

I should appreciate that he is acknowledging my concern however he sat at the desk for 15-20 minutes and "could not get ahold of SOA"....and told me he will try again in the morning and see if he can get some feedback from them.

Needless to say, I spent over an hour to get nothing back that didnt already know. Hopefully he will get ahold of SOA in the morning and see if my VIN qualifies for this....maybe it will........

    maybe it wont. stay tuned.

  4. I disagree mwiener2. Dont want to be rude, however there are several people who have posted lately on this thread that are awaiting responses from dealers and how this issue is being handled. It has been quite helpful to myself and others who are going through this process.

It would be appreciate by myself, and im assuming others if we could get some more "closure" and feedback from people currently in the mix with this ECU issue.

    Just my opinion, Thanks.

  5. ROBMAN, what dealership did you go to? I am in NH and am planning on bringing my LGT/ltd 5SPD to AMD Subaru in N. Hampton, NH where i purchased it. I have an appoitment on Thursday to get this ECU thing checked out but would like to reference your dealership if they happen to not cooperate.....which I do not anticipate to be the issue.

Thanks for your help - glad to hear things worked out well for you, hope to get the same turnaround.

  6. Well, Im just hoping that when I take my LGT in on Thursday to the dealer and talk about the stock ECU issue, that when I get it back, if it qualifies for a reflash, it will be silky, smooth, and powerful like a 30grand turbocharged boxer engine should...and I wont even have to worry about an aftermarket ECU.......unless I get greedy and want a lil more juice...lol. (either way probably after the warranty anyways)

  7. Im on the northshore of Boston, MA and today the weather dropped from yesterdays 90+ and humid, to like 75-77 with very little humidity. Also, I normally fill with Mobil 93 gas, and yesterday I tried Sunoco Ultra 94. Seems to be a bit better this morning, however havent had much time to experiment with it.......I will later though.

Do any of you think the higher octane will produce a better ride.......i know there has been some debate on the gas issues as well (i.e) top tier, 89,91, etc.

  8. an aftermarket ECU could be a fix, however if you do not want to void your warranty, its not a good alternative. take what you can get for free....its alteast worth getting replaced, and if they never get a sure fix with a recall, then go w/ the aftermarket ECU.

just an opinion......"OPIE" has made some great points regarding this issue...

  9. I contacted my dealer this morning, finally got ahold of the Service Manager...he has heard of the ECU's having issues, however just not on cars this new. He did not hesitate to offer to have me bring it in, drive it and call SOA to see if there is something they can do (which there is).....he also mentioned sending out the ECU and putting me in a rental...

Hopefully it works out as good as it sounds, Im going in on Thursday afternoon. Stay tuned..

FYI - production date of my LGT 10/04

  10. Rob,

great investigative work! I tend to agree with you. When I visited the TopTier website I was also a bit skeptical about the affiliation and accredidation of this organization. If the National Highway and Traffic association, or DOT, etc was recognize this organization or some sort of government agency, I would maybe consider them a bit more serious. However an article posted by Car and Driver really isnt all that credible either....

However, I will try some new gas (been using Mobil/Exxon) since bought the car. Im going to use shell or chevron for the next couple weeks and see if this hesitaion/studdering thing is affected at all........at this point im desperate.

  11. Having that Subaru Tech Line phone number would be HUGE to have when showing up at your dealer.....Just freekin tell them to call this number with you there if they giving you crap about it being "something else" or "normal". This way they have the number and you can get the satisfaction that they are calling them with you there........and to see there face when they learn there really is a recognized issue:D .
