  1. No. That makes no sense, logically speaking. That's like saying he should use 5 quarts of oil...because it's within spec of the 2.5i. Besides the fact, aren't you a hater of "within specs" anyway? It's right in your sig line! I'm not saying the size he chose won't work, I'm saying there is a size that would have been a better choice. That is all.
  2. Yes, narrower is better. I understand that. What I don't understand is why you'd want a shorter tire. If you did the "narrower" tire conversion correctly, you should have gone with a 215/55R17. The 215/55R17 has both a narrower tread than the 215/50R17, and is slightly taller than the 225/50R17.
