I would be interested in knowing how do you bend the rear cassette cogs too? I would imagine this isn't the easiest thing to do?
My bike mechanic tells me I need to change gears before I hit the steep part of the hill I'm climbing instead of during.. me and my fat legs provide too much torque so when the chain is moving it grabs the cog and twists it laterally.
He's also saying the lightweight SRAM cassette uses too thin and light metal so the burlier Shimano would help reduce that.

I keep bending the larger cogs on my rear SRAM cassette.. would an XTR cassette be any better?
-
Holy cow.. almost my twin.

^ that's right.. they're moar profitable than RRSPs and other investments...
Turkey, did you have to strip and clean them before powdercoating?
-
Yeah, I've got 3 sets (with spares) too.. two silver and one black.
I like that silver.
-
Cool, that's a good ballpark figure. I'll see if the wifey wants them for her wagon...
-
Alright, 300 bucks each plus shipping.
Damn, you're in 'murica.

What are these going for these days? I have a set of black painted ones I'm not using..

I have a Thule Boxter.. fits well enough forward but still allows the hatch to fully open.
Only thing is it hangs over the windshield by a little bit.

You can probably Macgyver something up that'll let you swing a handle up and it'll cam the rear roof rail up a bit (using the forward rail as a rotation axle point) and tilt the whole box up from the back...

Your LGT has 2. One on the drivers side and 1 on the passenger.
This kit does not eliminate any. But you can eliminate the passenger side if you choose to (with or without the kit).
You can remove the drivers side too, but easiest way is to remove the cam gears and rear timing cover. So it is a lot of work.
Subaru has used filtered banjos for many years. Some cars had 4 of them. The oil needs to be filtered somehow. Problem is serviceability of banjo bolt filters (and location of bolts).
So Mike, if I'm understanding this right, I can put this in ahead of all the banjo bolts and your filtration unit will catch any garbage before it hits the banjos, correct?
At 80k kms (~50k miles), I'm starting to look for precautions that might spell an early death for my beloved LGT.
Thanks.

I call BS. lol. I am 6'2 and the headrest completely flush hits my ears.
Call it whatever you want, but some people have longer/shorter torsos/legs/necks than others of the equivalent height, but you've probably got the blinders on such that you don't think azns are any taller than 5'8" either eh?
Pro tip: Look ahead when you're driving, then you wouldn't have any issues with your ears touching the headrest.

Oh, just found this. good to know. I picked up another switch panel from the junkyard.. 2 months after I put it in it started sticking too.
i'll try this when it warms up a bit.

Good writeup.. can you make a quick measurement of the distance from the top of the seat base at butt occupancy position to the top of the headrest and also seat depth of the STI seats?
I'm 6'4".. the 05 LGT seat with extended headrest goes to the mid point of the back of my head.. if I get rear ended there's a possibility of neck breakage (which is highly undesireable imo)..

After seeing PGT's pics, I knew what I wanted my 05 to look like:
guess more of mine would be cool in this threadhttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/PatagonianGT/DSC00380.jpg
Took its time, but 6 years later these just showed up:

Can't wait for Spring...

Yeah, you could argue that they are worth less than $1000 (hell, you could say they're old wheels and only worth $100), but I would guess that would affect the ability to insure them for anymore than whatever you claim them at. I'd definitely want to insure an international shipment like that if it were me.
Yeah.. had that problem with another guy here I bought rims from.. he didn't insure for the full amount. 2 got lost and he wanted me to pay him for the extra cost, in addition to the time he spent getting them to me (I didn't know about that cost..)?
He'll remain unnamed.
I'd get them insured for the full amount.

My heater is fried.. light on the switch goes on, fuse is ok. I suspect the loop is broken.
What's the word on a reliable fix so it never happens again - do I try a third party element or just find the loop and solder it back together?
Thanks...

If I get a single good silver..
-
I'm still looking for a single silver wheel..
PM if you have one.
I have a full set in black, 3 wheels in silver.
-
nice! I've been looking for a silver set for the longest time.
-
silver on ABP.
I went with black *painted* but I prefer the silver look. Or go with one side of the car with black, other with silver.
-
Nope.. ABP since day one. Maybe you were thinking of another one of us WSC'ers..
-
Here's a new one:

The integrity of the wheel has already been compromised, I wouldn't bother.
Consider it a lesson learned and take them to a metal recycler or something.. if the guy that buys them loses a tire/wheel and gets a quick trip to the pearly gates you wouldn't want to be associated with it.
Just my 2 cents.. sorry.

Anyone in Canadaland know where I can get the tool required? Totally forgot about this kit until I was cleaning my bench.
Princess Auto doesn't have one.
