  1. You see, I have been driving for 7 years, and have never had any technological assistance. I have never had an accident, and every time anyone has ever pulled out in front of me, cut me off, tailgated me or brake checked me, I have been able to stop or maneuver around it. I also don't ever use cruise control, as it allows you to be to comfortable and lose a bit of attentiveness. Just my thoughts

Your 7 years of no accidents means that you are going to survive the next 30 or 40 not having one?

You will have an accident at one point in your driving life, it may not be your fault, it may not be serious but you will have one and if there are any technological gadgets that can prevent that one time, then it is more than worth it.

I spent the last 35 years of my life driving without gadgets, but as soon as my wife got a 2016 Outback with eyesight, I loved it so much I went out and got a Legacy with eyesight, it really is that good.

  2. Installed the Morimoto foglights this afternoon; on a 1 to 10 difficulty I would say this is a 2. Very easy to do just by jacking the front of the car up and pulling the plastic undertray out of the way.

The Morimotos do give a much brighter light output, although hard to tell in daylight by how much. Also, does anyone have any tips on how to adjust them? From light threads I've seen before it's usually a case of parking so far away from a wall and measuring the height of the beam.

I did manage to get the securing screw and the popit in to hold them in place, just needs a little jiggling. The original securing bolt isn't a great fit as it has a shoulder on it which doesn't fit through the hole in the bracket, but there's just enough thread to make it tight.

On the drivers side there is a spare electrical socket on the wiring harness for the windshield bottle (picture attached), does anyone know what this is for, maybe JDM or European models have a rear windshield washer and wiper?

  3. Ordered a set of the Morimoto fog lights from Amazon C$140 with free shipping. Install will be next weekend hopefully.

Tail to turn and C lamps from DD is next on the list. Has anyone installed the C lamps themselves? I opened the headlight housings on my '05 a few times, wasn't difficult at all, just worried about the wiring, are they plug and play?

  4. The kit is selling for 100$ (USD or CAN) + shipping. Canada buyers needs to add the PST, GST, TVH and all that sh!t that we are required to give to Harper and Charest so that they can have nice vacations... anyway.. that's another fight.. lol!

OK, let's pretend that I am a tourist here in Montreal who doesn't pay Harper or Charest.

    Nudge nudge, wink wink.

  5. I

One more and betting you didn't know this!

In the heyday of sailing ships, all war ships and many freighters

carried iron cannons. Those cannons fired round iron cannon balls. It

was necessary to keep a good supply near the cannon. However, how to

prevent them from rolling about the deck? The best storage method

devised was a square-based pyramid with one ball on top, resting on

four resting on nine, which rested on sixteen.. Thus, a supply of 30

cannon balls could be stacked in a small area right next to the

cannon. There was only one problem...how to prevent the bottom layer

from sliding or rolling from under the others. The solution was a metal plate called a 'Monkey' with 16 round indentations.

However, if this plate were made of iron, the iron balls would quickly

rust to it. The solution to the rusting problem was to make 'Brass

Monkeys.' Few landlubbers realize that brass contracts much more and

much faster than iron when chilled.

Consequently, when the temperature dropped too far, the brass

indentations would shrink so much that the iron cannonballs would come

right off the monkey.. Thus, it was quite literally, 'Cold enough to

freeze the balls off a brass monkey.' (All this time, you thought that

was an improper expression, didn't you.)

That was the only one I did know

  6. So I finished my brembo swap, and I don't feel the squishiness that some talk about. Maybe some of you out there have not fully bled the system properly? I'll be staying with my stock booster and cylinder.

Same here. With Brembo calipers the stock cylinder works fine and no "squishyness" at all.

  7. So I had a tire blow out on the 401 last weekend (front passanger) in the middle of nowhere. Luckely I pulled of the highway right behind a service pick-up. While I was putting my spare on, he called his garage to see if they had my tire size. They did, so I followed him.

I get there and they say that they only have a used one, same size...ok...

I needed to get to Toronto fast for a wedding so I accepted. They installed it and put it rear passanger side (to not screw up my handling).

So I get back from my weekend in Toronto and after reading messages on this board I'm not too sure about it anymore. Since then, I have travelled a total of 1500 km.

I have approximatlely 8000 km on my tires.

    I have 3 x Yokohama Advan A83 88V with 8000 km

    and 1 x Michelin HX MXM4 93V with ??? km + 1500 km

    all are 205/50R17

I checked Tirerack.com and when new, both of these tires have the same diameter.

So should get a new tire (same as other three and shave it if needed) or keep this one?

Keep it, you will be fine.

I blew a tyre on the 40, and drove for over 200 km on the temporary spare before fitting a replacement.

I got a partially used Eagle F1 from a guy on the Montreal forum, hardly any wear. The other 3 tyres had 30,000 kms on them and were over 50% worn.

    No issues at all.

  8. Finally had the swap done by Lachute Performance in Montreal. I wish I had done this years ago, it is such a huge improvement in feel over the 5 speed box.

Lachute did an excellent job, and customer service is top notch.

  9. I'm going to be getting a 6 speed tranny installed in 2 weeks time at Lachute Performance in Montreal.

It's a '04 USDM STi transmission with DCCD. It comes with the stock clutch and flywheel for the '04 STi, but I am wondering if that would be enough to hold 350 whp.

  10. The BBS STi wheels are on.

These are my winter rims, but I like the look so much I might swap to use them as summers instead.
