there is a levelten transmission upgrade that will handle a claimed 700hp/tq...iirc.
It runs about $5...and you may be a few more into it after R&R.
I didn't get that R&R comment until I looked into what... grade... of business they are. F is about all I can see.
-
Certainly not the best package on the grid but better than where he'll be in 2019, I'll bet.
Also unfortunate.
-
I did some light reading about the Q50/60 and it seems the transmissions are the limit in those cars?
I don't have much room to talk - the ZF 8sp auto trans in my BMW is limited to 475tq input. Apparently I'm also limited to 360tq input or something in 3rd and 6th gears too... probably has to do with how the planetaries are and keeping it safe.
I guess this is another reason I should keep it stock.
-
I feel bad for Ricciardo. Dude's a solid driver with a trash ride, aside from Newey's aero magic.
-
How? I've been reading that the only way to make a ton of power on these engines is not with more boost but more timing and fuel. The stock turbos are almost out of their peak efficiency range as is, especially on the RS models.
That said, I'm still trying to figure out how AMS got their R60RS with bolt ons, stickies and skinnies, and a tune to do 10.2 @ 138 or something silly.

oh crap, in the green room, Kimi says to Hammy: "Did you win the championship?"
Hammy: "... No."
And the FIA attache said to Verstappen, "I just want to confirm that unlike last year, today you can stay". That's why they were all laughing.I had to rewind it on my DVR a couple times to make sure that's what was said... hilarious.
-
As much as I liked the coverage of Kimi and Hamilton, we missed out on the mid-pack battles entirely. Vettel recovered nicely but Hamilton's going to take it. Vettel needs wins and Hamilton to finish outside of the points (or very low) the next 3 races.
-
Never did I expect the race to play out like that. Good race.

Unrelated to a Q50 but with my F10 535i xDrive... "I need to keep this stock so I can save for our wedding... But if I get a water meth kit, it'll keep my intake valves clean and I won't need walnut blasting... But then I need a tune to use it properly, and I might as well get some power... But then I need a down pipe... Shit. I haven't even made the first payment."
-
And I hope for a Kimi win, but I know it won't happen. But I watch anyway!
This, especially. Just so I can hear him say something like "I won because I was fastest, I don't know what else you want me to say. Don't make it so complicated" or something on the podium when Couthard won't shut up.
I too root for Haas because 'merica.
I don't know why I saw it just now (I guess it's a couple years old) but the in-car footage of Darrell Waltrip in a V8 Supercar at Bathurst? Man, that shit's funny.
-
It was Ferrari's fault for Vettel qualifying dismally... they wagered wrong with the intermediates.
As for him getting into it and spinning... I have to admit, he wasn't innocent but at the same time, I wouldn't consider it a racing incident either. From what I saw, if they didn't interlock tires/barge boards, he would've had tires in the grass. That's not leaving a competitor enough space.

V8 Supercars are fantastic to watch. Sliding around all the time.
I must say I almost always prefer to watch Europeon or Australian road racing to US roadracing. The foreign drivers always seem to dance the cars on edge while American drivers stay just away from it. Our drivers don't dance the cars very much like the Australians and Europeons. The best example is our historic racing vs that in the UK. I love watching the Goodwood Revival. Going to a historic race here the racing is nowhere near as good. The drivers don't push.
Agreed. BTCC and V8 Supercars always seem very on edge (almost every picture shows them on two wheels mid corner) but US drivers always seem to go as fast as possible on 4 wheels but have to save tires and gas.
-
We need V8 Supercars here. Don't give me that BS that it's NASCAR because it's not.
-
Other than Max's stellar 6-7 opening laps, that race was dreadfully boring.
I did read a piece that Hamilton suggested running Sochi in reverse to make it more interesting.
-
Was getting all excited for Suzuka aaaand it's Russia this week. Womp womp...
-
I like that idea. Qualifying would be a mess but 24 or 26 cars on the grid maybe? Great.
-
If I didn't have a wedding to pay for, I'd be seriously shopping a 3.0t Sport. I don't have the pocket for the RS but damn, I can want one.
I'll probably end up in a 2013 M-Sport 535xdrive in the next week or so, which means I'll have to live my Q50 life vicariously through you.
Get a tune, skinnies, slicks, and a couple bolt ons and run a 10.2 1/4 like AMS. Bolt ons don't count as mods, right?

A somewhat interesting Singapore GP, mostly becz of the clown antics of Sirotkin and Perez. Not much passing up front but some interesting battles out of the points positions.I know Martin Brundle has been complaining that the DRS is too strong at other tracks. Seems like here, the opposite was true. Some passing would have been nice.
I was hoping Max would torpedo himself into Hamilton at the start and give Vettel the win. Perez boned Vettel after Vettel's pit stop.
Other than Perez and Sirotkin, what a boring race, and I usually really enjoy Singapore.
-
no no, I'm not saying that. I'm saying when the car Leclerc is driving is one of the best 4 on the track and Vettel takes himself out in one of his now infamous first lap "sorry guys" farkups, Leclerc will have a good chance of walking to a podium.
Honda - RBR though... Please please please be good and make this a 6 car battle.
Yeah but what if Leclerc is like Kvyat was with RBR? Supposedly great but doesn't perform when he gets the ride?
I know you're not saying Leclerc is that but everyone else seems to be. I just don't see it.
-
I get that Leclerc has wiped the floor with Ericsson but he's not what Vettel was pre-RBR... what's with all the "Leclerc is the second coming of Jesus" talk in F1?
-
I desperately hope this doesn't turn into an Alonso/McLaren downgrade.
I also hope this doesn't guarantee Mercedes taking the constructor's championship easily next year... I see Ferrari competing more with RBR now without a consistent podium finisher in Kimi.
-
Son of a bitch.

After the season Kimi's had, I don't understand getting rid of him. He's about as productive as a #2 can be short of taking wins away from the #1. He should've had a win last season at Monaco and had Ferrari played their strategy better, should've had a win at Monza.
I get that he doesn't have any wins in the last 5 years but out of 14 races so far, for Kimi to have 9 podiums (3 retirements, 2 non podiums outside of that) is pretty good. Had he not had the retirements, it could be argued he'd have 10 or 11 podiums. That's more than Bottas and Mercedes isn't considering getting rid of him AND Kimi's ahead of him in points this season.
I get that Leclerc is good but I don't think he's Vettel-prodigy-at-STR good so ditching Kimi for 2019 seems like a risk. Vettel isn't going back to RBR, won't go to Merc with Hamilton, and none of the other teams have the pocket for him. It has to be Kimi.
-
Sky Sports was right. Bottas is going to need tinted windows to leave the track.
