  1. I learned this the hard way, every item I've tried to order is not available.
  2. I need to have my HVAC system cleaned due to debris left over from a mice nest that was in my blower motor and evaporator area. The dealer is quoting $1,200 to pull the dash and clean everything but I get a "free" A/C recharge with the service. I already have my dash pulled so I'm considering just having a tow truck take my vehicle to the dealer in its current state. Perhaps they would extend a discount since they don't have to pull all of the panels I've already done. Has anyone ever taken their car to the dealer in a stripped state and they still worked on it? For the evaporator, heater core and A/C flush service has anyone ever used a non-dealer shop? Obviously they aren't necessarily experts in Subarus but could be significantly cheaper. Thoughts?
  3. Nice, thanks, I'll check that fabric out I'm also wondering about... -the fabric that is surrounding the back of the dashboard -the fabric underneath the back seats Could I use the dampening fabric I bought from Amazon? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08D7446RQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is the fabric I'm referring to that's stock in the dashboard... https://postimg.cc/gallery/ppmdzXF I'm trying to remove any materials that may easily be used for nesting should I encounter a mice issue again.
  4. seems it's not available anymore so I might just splice and solder since it's not too important anyway
  5. yep, that's it.... https://parts.bestbuysubaru.com/p/Subaru__/Antenna-Cable-FEEDER-CordCLARIONAntenna-Cable/49299341/86325AG28A.html
  6. that makes more sense since there is no equivalent plug on the other side near the curtain airbag. I guess if I don't use the radio then not required. I see the cable going to the front of the car and under the drivers feet to a plug near the radio (but mine is pulled right now so I can't confirm specifically what it plugs into.
  7. actually found this in the manual https://postimg.cc/zLBVN2Hm I think it's what they call the curtain airbag module connector. However, I can't find the part anywhere online.
  8. The 1st pic is where the cable connects The 2nd pic is the frayed cable
  9. I need to replace this cable. Does it have something to do with the curtain airbag or something else? https://postimg.cc/gallery/Gp8K0Tk Do they make you replace the whole curtain airbag system on that side of the car or can just this cable be replaced?
  10. I'm just going to try to replace the gray fabric with this material I found on Amazon... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08D7446RQ/
  11. Hi, does anyone know the gauge and length of this tubing? the one on my driver side is punctured and I need to replace it. Also, where exactly does the tube feed to? Inside of the wheel well? I tried to order the part here but even though it says in stock on the website it's no longer available. https://www.subarupartsdeal.com/parts/subaru-drain-tube-sun-roof-front~65475ag02a.html?vin=&make=Subaru&model=Legacy&year=2005&submodel=&extra1=&extra2=&filter=(1=S;2=255;4=5MT;5=25GTLTD)
  12. Thanks, saw the the thread and PM'd the OP. Separately, can anyone recommend anywhere where I can find the fabric in these photos? https://postimg.cc/gallery/x9wgrbr Happy to use some other type of fabric but not sure where to start.
  13. bump as I'm interested in the heater core flushing and/or replacement process as well
  14. Ah, understood thanks for the additional cleaning tips. Unfortunately I never ran the ozone machine with the A/C in recirc because the blower motor had a nest in it which prevented it from even spinning. The motor is now replaced though. OK cool, I'll research the process of flushing the heater core. I take it you're referring to A/C coolant change? This would require me to drain it and replace it, correct?
  15. Some images... https://postimg.cc/gallery/B6qd3b2 Need to investigate whether I can purchase that white fabric that is behind the dash from somewhere since they tore it all up for nesting material.
  16. Now that the dash it out not sure if I should keep going to investigate whether the heater core and all A/C piping has any mice residue. My concern of course is breathing any remnants of mice droppings once I use the car on a more regular basis. The car is already dismantled to this point so may just do it even though it's more complex. I think I read in the manual that I would need to remove coolant in one of the steps.
  17. OK, thanks for the cleaning tips. My seats are leather. I'll be using the heated extractor on the seat carpeted areas at the bottom and on the carpet itself. Already purchased Terminator and Carpet Bomber solutions for this piece. I'll use a steamer and a microfiber towel with the P&S cleaner on the headliner, sunshade and A pillar trim pieces since they're more delicate. Not sure if I should attempt to use a drill microfiber brush to lightly agitate the fabric as well though. The blower motor and the A/C filter was cleaned but the left end of the pipe that feeds into the blower motor still has some mice activity residue.
  18. Thanks for the advice. I got the airbag recall back in 2017. I pulled the dash today, wasn't as bad as I thought but the YouTube video definitely missed some parts I had to figure out. Do you know the name of the pipe the blower motor is connected to? If I pull the dash will I be able to access that? I used an endoscope and saw some birdseed still down that pipe but I was able to vacuum a ton of it already. I turned on the A/C on high after installing a new blower motor and the remaining seed didn't blow out. Separately, what are your thoughts on using the ozone machine on the front/back car seats and the already removed plastic interior components in a separate room outside the vehicle? For the seats, just not sure if I want to go the route of reupholstering them if the smell isn't too bad once the car is stripped and there is no more nesting/dead mice to be found. I saw some other threads from years ago with other people complaining of mice issues, seems the main culprit may be those plastic mesh pattern things (not sure what they are) in the back of the trunk to the right and the left. I think they are to let air in/out but the flaps are way bigger than mice need to get in and wreak havoc. One of the guys in the thread said he put wire mesh over them to mitigate the issue going forward. Of course they could still attack the engine but not much nesting material except for the air filter.
  19. Thanks, I found that same video a few days ago and gave me some confidence that I could take on the task.
