Its the truth untill Sept 4th! haha

That's not my car, but I'm the other Red GT in the lot. I just dropped mine off last night. Going in for some goodies. Needless to say, P.T. will have the car until the end of July so I'm getting some fun stuff in.

Cool, only noticed 1 there.. was in a rush though. What are you getting done?

Dropped my car off this morning at Precision Tuning and saw a debaged red LGT with quad tip exhaust and a perrin license plate frame.

Its THIS unit. Just your standard everyday sirius reciever. Im using the only audio output available on it. Its ok volume wise.. but really needs a gain.. It has its own volume control built in, and if you max that out, you get some distortion from the unit itself.. so I have to leave that backed out a little bit.
I only really noticed that things could be louder when hooking up my new IPod via the headphone jack and could get alot of volume out of it. So that left me searching for a way to get my sirius to put out a bit more power. I hate the idea of having another volume control (gain control) to deal with.. but could probably get away with "set it and forget it".

Ive seen a black, lowered, tinted (tail lights and windows) LGT on mantaloking road in Brick, NJ a few times recently.
Nice lookin car!

Hey Jazzy..
Would something like this be ok to run into the AuxIn board? Id like to get a little bit more volume out of my Sirius Starmate ST2 so I dont have to listen to it on like 35-40 (max level) when on a highway with the windows open or something.
Have to find one that runs on 12v though.. battery swapping sucks!
-
My guess is that one of the connectors in the line is not a 'stereo' adapter even though you list it as so.
-
^I almost did the same thing while sourcing the parts at Radioshack.. one of the wires I picked up said mono or something like that.. was at the check out line looking at the stuff I picked up and noticed everything else said stereo.. that woulda sucked.

Cool... s'all good.

Finally got this hooked up after buying one of these boards out of the first run... Everything went well.. very easy to do with some patience and tools.
1 question that has probably been answered in this thread... Is it right that... when you switch from CD to radio, if you still have your (ipod or sat radio) running.. you will get bleed through?
Please tell me yes.. I dont wanna take the whole thing apart again! haha Its not a big deal as I dont listen to FM radio anymore.. and if I do, i can just mute or turn off my sat radio. Just want to make sure everything is working as it should.
-
How about a "pro kit" package but without the board. I bought the board awhile ago and would just need the wires & GLI filter. I know you can add the parts manually.. just trying to be lazy here.
-
I bought my board months ago but never got around to installing.. but now that I have Sirius up and running, I really need to get this installed pronto.
Id like to buy the rest of the wiring from your site.. drewsters chain looks about right for my needs also.. is there a package we can order, or do we just add each piece manually?

Even better news. I am reluctant to use my PDA as an MP3 Player as memory is a premium unless you spend a bunch of money for like a 4GB CF/SD card. Do you really think its muting or is the signal from the PDA just louder than the XM signal? Either way.. Ill have sirius and PDA running, and as long as it does what you say it does.. Im golden!
Actually, I'm using my XM for music, and my PDA for GPS. So what is actually happening is my XM input is being cut off momentarily to hear what my lady-friend GPS is saying, and then comes back on....No connection between PDA and XM, only the stereo patch cables which plug into a Y which plugs into my new aux in board.
As far as the ground loop thing, I'll figure it out, thanks for the input.
-
So your using your PDA as an MP3 player right? This is what I planned on doing along with GPS and was hoping that it would mute like this. Nice!
With power plugged in, everything works great, I am also using the aux in for my PDA with GPS, so music is playing, and when my GPS wants to tell me to turn, the music momentarily cuts off, GPS speaks, and then music comes back on!! That was an added feature, don't even know why that happens.
Thanks

Would the RCA version be any better (sounding), or does that just stop the need to buy an adapter?
-
well, the next gen one sounds like what I would want if doable... running my GPS via my PocketPC through my car stereo while listening to FM or a CD would spectacular and exactly what I need!
So do I spend the $35 now or put it towards the next gen solution?? Hmmm.

Do most aux devices (ipod\sat-radio) use this sort of connector? Will you need to fab up something else to connect those, or do they come with the necessary hardware to plug in to this headphone-like jack?
-
This happened to me last night also. Not seeing this post pop up all the time makes me believe its a once in a while type thing. Ill mention it to my dealership when I go in for my first oil change, but I dont think they'll do anything since it "wont be reproducable".
Ah well.

the ecu should be the only thing that holds any sort of data or settings. pulling the battery cable or pulling the ECU fuse should have exactly the same result, an ECU that is set back to its factory defaulted settings.
the only way i could see a difference between the 2 methods is if there was another computer controlling say shiftpoints in an AT tranny, and resetting one may not give you the true base settings.
-
I think I found it. Looks like Fuse 12 in the interior fuse panel. Listed as Engine Control Unit (and other things). I believe this should do the trick.
I pulled it for about 5 minutes and put it back in. Tomorrow I will see if I notice any difference in the cars behavior. I may or I may not, but its worth a shot.

With past cars, the ECU is slow to learn habits, good or bad. Just like with any "performance" mod, an ECU reset is suggested to allow the car to take full advantage of whatever part you just installed. I figure the new way I will be driving is a pretty big performance mod in its own right, and would rather speed things along than wait the X amount of drive cycles or miles before it starts behaving like I think it should.
My last car had a ECU fuse or (PCM Fuse) whatever you want to call it that protected it from whatever a fuse protects electrical components from. To reset the ECU, all you had to do was pull the fuse for a good 5 mins or so and all was reset. And you still had your clock and stations still happily programmed. All the good w/o the bad.
Ill have to pull the manual out tomorrow and check for myself. Im guessing every car has a fuse for the ECU/PCM, I was just wondering if anybody knew off hand.

I think this is the same LGT that I have passed quite a few times in brick.. but this time you parked next to my car while I was parked at the Manhattan Bagel on Chambersbridge Road around noon-1pm or so.
Nice looking car.. finally got to see it up close.
