  1. does anyone actually know what to do when the "run mode change system check" thing is showing on the dashboard? its definitely not the battery. is there a way to actually run a "mode change sytem check"?
  2. More work definitely needs to be done to the subframe but really not until i find true problems. the car sticks, sticks like crazy, and until im using the engine at its full potential, i would just be making changes at whim with no way to see the results of each change. im addressing each problem area one at a time. the brakes keep getting brought up by everyone, if a change needs to be made, im simply going to willwood calipers and lgt rotors. i dont lap the car endlessly, it gets out for a warm up then a run, or gets the piss beaten out of it for a couple minutes up a mountain. trying to find a good pad is my issue as of the moment
  3. im going to come off as an asshole here i know, but i really don't mean it that way, so if a grain of salt is needed with this then by all means, take a hit of that s2baru haha. Im not for specs, or at least handing out specs for a setup that has nothing to do with anyone else's car, i know that makes me the non-communal asshole but its me and i like having my car be mine. Also, I have no experience with the fifth gen outside of fabbing up a custom exhaust for someone. I can tell you that my old setup, which from reading your thread, the wheel design might not be your taste, was a set of 18x10 +30 rota grids with dunlop 275's on them. on my car they had minimal room on the inside and still sat out past my fenders. the tires looked nice and meaty on the rims but had an ever so slight amount of stretch to them, non run flats may have a more stretched look to them but still nothing really noticeable at glance. my suggestion, get out a right angle measuring stick, take your wheel off, compress the suspension to ride height, and measure out your backspacing from the flat of your brake hat to your fender, like we all used to have to do when there were no forums and the only people in your small ass town in the middle of nowhere wyoming who know anything about cars think a 60's v8 is the only car worth thinking about. That way you can find something close to what your looking for, or have something made. I dont know how much space you have on the inside but from the looks of it you are sitting at the fender on the outside. if you have an spare inch on the inside, raise your wheel width an inch, raise your offset 25ish mm and get 275's, if it doesnt fit, throw a spacer on there and/or roll fenders accordingly.
  4. Thanks for the recommendation guys. and thanks slusbe. i really shouldnt be driving the car on the street at all but i do, when im not having electrical problems from hell at least. the car is fully usable on a daily basis, its part of the whole awkwardness of the car, full interior and a nice jl system since thats what i do for a living haha. and yes there are ways to test the effectiveness of aero, mainly with small high airspeed pressure sensors. and s2baru, there is definitely nothing tucked about my car haha but the tires are 295's
  5. well new ecu seems fine but my car is a fricken loner and wont talk to any computers... even subarus. so im just out of ideas and, for the moment at least, f***s to give
  6. So the ecu is fried... so while I wait for a new one I figured time to check ALL the wiring...
  7. Well honestly that was the original plan boxkita, after I got a chance to really sit down and focus on the diffuser design I really kept coming back to the number one problem with wagons (or hatches or vans) and that is that behind the car, it's very hard to keep a smooth flow of air off of the body, since the back creates a huge parachute like spot of low pressure. So my thinking was, let's use the diffuser to open up a slightly low pressure spot just behind the axle, by bringing the upper deck of the diffuser up higher than the plane of flow under the car, then I will separate the turbulent air from behind the tires from the relatively smooth airflow coming out from either side of the driveline run. Keep that open for a punch of faster air coming into the stream behind the car, then I used the center section to form the lower deck that sits at a relatively high angle of attack to produce some downforce BUT also work in conjunction with theach hot high velocity air coming out from the exhaust directly above it to essentially drive a high pressure front into the low pressure area created by the hatch area... or that was my thinking at least. And kaitanium, to be honest I don't know if they do anything or not but I use this car as a testbed for what I study in fluid dynamics and engineering
  8. Holy crap, sir boxkita. I was hoping you would still be active here haha. And no one "likes" the center exhaust haha, but it's the most simple way I could attempt the "dual deck blown diffuser" I've been ranting about for years now haha
  9. Pikes peak and the full red line season where the goal for this year but the engine build got out of control and tapped into all my funds for a roll cage and the other safety stuff need for pikes peak. And the engine build took too long to make it to any of the red line events. But yes that is definitely the goal
  10. Yes haha that is my exhaust. here's some better pictures that show the dual deck diffuser and exhaust i built for it
  11. Ugh haha. Well I've got some custom bits, some avo stuff, some other companies stuff, and some custom valved dampeners and if ill be specific on something ive got 8k springs up front and 10k springs in back. Suspension stuff is being adjusted and rethought almost daily at this point. I know the feeling I'm going for and I'm getting close but it has not quite been reached yet.
  12. Just curious, but is your front crash beam modified any?
  13. So i figured a new thread is due. been gone awhile. little problems, as they like to do, kept piling up and kept this thing off the road for far too long. But shes back on the road and has been tearing up mountain passes already with some new goodies. I spend alot of time and am proud to say that everything but the machine work was done by myself. mods list i guess?
