  1. I'm assuming I am now a part of this thread...or will be soon.

I'm parked on my downhill driveway, facing downhill. My car was idling there for about 10 minutes while I loaded up my car with my hockey gear. As I backed out of the driveway, I'm forced to put it under a bit of load to go up the hill.....large (relative as I'm not used to seeing any) blue smoke cloud out of the exhaust...:spin:

I stop on level ground, get out, a bit of smoke coming from the engine bay too...nothing huge though. It all goes away, everything seems "normal" so I drive cautiously to my hockey game.

I'm going to pull my downpipe and check the condition of the turbo on Saturday as I'm hoping this is just a seal going bad (anyone have a vf52 they want to sell me?), but other than that, I'm not sure what to do. I could do a compression check and whatnot I suppose, but I'm assuming this is turbo related.

05 LGT, 118K miles (about turbo failure miles)

  2. Yes, sealant between the head and gasket. I find it easiest to put the gasket in the valve cover "slot" and then put the sealant on top of the gasket in the places it calls for it. Then, snake the valve cover unit in and bolt it all up. Make sure to confirm you didn't unseat the gasket when trying to snake it in.

Once you tighten everything up, go dosomething else for the rest of the night. Come back in the morning and drive away knowing it dried overnight. The idea is you don't want oil coming in contact with the sealant prematurely.

  3. Holding me back from "my" numbers. I am a number person....I don't care how it feels  I made 280/325.....I want 3xx/3xx then I'll be happy. I don't care if it is 305hp.....it's over 3.....gay I know....just me.

Hill at Agile Auto tuned my car.

A 52 can run fine without supporting mods....but to maximize the potential of the turbo yes, you need fuel system upgrades.

Go get on a different dyno and you'll be at 335/375. Yes I'm serious. Yes it does make that big of a difference.

I just thought I'd join the conversation. Looks like I'll be picking up a <5K vf52 off a '13 very soon. Add a dw65 and a GS ebcs and I'm ready for a tune!
