i guess that's the obvious place to check huh? my logic was backwards - i was thinking since the keyfob still worked, the cancel wasn't engaged. It makes much more sense that the cancel button would stop the in-car button from working (for a valet, since they would not have the keyfob.) duh.
that fixed it - thanks man.

Hey guys,
My wife's 2010 Legacy 2.5i has a problem with the trunk release. The button inside the car no longer opens the trunk. However, the Key-fob button still works just fine.
Has anyone had this happen to their legacy? I'd much rather fix it myself than take to the dealership (it has over 50k miles on it, so the bumper-bumper warranty is gone).

Thanks man, I'll have to check it out

I had a "brainfart" when I originally posted the picture. I know its a '12 but for some reason put '13...

How many GGM cars have been blacking out the chrome around the windows? I've been contemplating doing this, but I'm on the fence.
I did it on my wife's GGM and my RRP. It's easy and fun to do (I thought, anyway).

Playing with the camera tonight no editting on any of these because I have no idea what to do with adobe
Dang dude, that 3rd picture is amazing. I don't normally like crazy rim colors, but that's perfect.
For the night shots, do you have a tripod for your camera? It would help a lot, especially on that blurry one (second from last).

practicing a little point and shoot with my new camera
How did you get that red highlight around the front grill?
-
How did you get them from Clear an Chrome to Black? Is it hard to do? I would love to do this on my 2010 SWP Legacy
Do a search for 'baking headlights'. There are a few how-to's on here.
It's not for the faint of heart, but definitely do-able with patience and persistence.

I used Xenon Works 35w 3000k. Im sure there are more expensive kits but Ive been using this brand since 07 on 3 different vehicles with zero failures or problems.
did you mean Xenonworx?
Looks like they are all discontinued.
On another point, is there a cheap foglight bezel for our legacys? Or do we have to buy the OEM foglight kit and then retrofit some HID's?

This is sad but, do they have a website? All i can find is a Facebook page about some artist named "Xenon Works" and some Alibaba links...

Thanks Darksabre. I love looking at everybody's Legacy's...and feel a little envious with your awesome set ups.
Time to save up for some new rims!
Hah, i know exactly what you mean. There always someone with a better ride out there.
Have you seen Brainchild Customs' ride? Makes me go :spin: every time I go to his thread haha.

Amber HID fogs. 5000k HID headlights. I took this pic before I swapped my highs and DRLs to LED.
Lookin great. What HID kit did you use for the foglights?

Hi all, new guy here.
Just got this baby this Memorial Day weekend. It's still all stock but I am looking forward to getting new shoes for it.
So happy we got a Subaru Legacy!
Hey, welcome to the boards. Glad you're enjoying your legacy so far.

stopped on my way home to snap a few Pics.
Those are great! Gotta love colorado.

For me it throws a code - something about high-voltage across circuit xyz. The low wattage and amperage draw might also be interferring with regular OBDII communications causing seemingly random christmas lights on the dash. Whoever designed or approved these big brother DTCs and CEL triggering logic under OBDII for headlight/taillight circuits gets multiple six-packs from me.
Dang, a code would have been nice...something...anything. It just starts flashing at totally random times, regardless of turning on the lights or pressing the brake pedal. I hooked a code reader up while it was flashing, and after as well. No current codes, and no past codes.
-
We think its because of the low wattage draw of 5 watts. 7 watts appear to not throw the error code.
Huh, crazy. It's a really annoying error, as it sets no codes whatsoever.
Is that a separate error indication system? Can the dealership even tell what this code means? I've heard a number of stories of what it could be (mostly the gas cap seal going bad).

Anyone here happen to have a smart card reader? I desperately need one asap, please PM if you can help out. I'd rather not have to drive 5hrs back to my base just to sign a report off.
Yeah my laptop has one built in as well. Never used it though...

Sure thing! Yes, I like them too and very happy with them. BTW, I just heard from the guys that sell them that they also have a new design coming in soon. LEDs on both or multiple sides, putting out 1800-1900 lumens (vs the 1200 now). They might send me a kit to test and if they do I'll post a writeup here in a separate thread. I even got a sample teaser photo of a set installed in an unnamed car (attached). If its not photochopped, that looks rather impressive. They will also offer an H4 high/low LED bulb soon (1900 lumens high, 1600 lumens low). Not much use for us but nice nonetheless.
O.o Is that led light only? That's awesome.

Beware of the 7443 red Brake LEDs. They caused the flashing brake and steady VDC dash lights in my car. I returned them for a refund.
Huh, I wonder if that's why mine does that occasionally. I've just learned to ignore it.
-
Thanks, yep (see below).<SNIP> ...
Man, thanks for all of that info! Very helpful. I really like the LED high/low beam. I ended up just getting a 6k DRL style led from jdmtoys because I have the 'bi-xenon' kit from TRS.
Allows me to use the high/low bulb spot purely for show, but it's annoying to have the HID's fire up momentarily if I have to flash my high beams w/o my lights on for whatever reason.
I wish I had read about that quad brake light mod before I ordered all of my platinum red LEDs from vleds! I got 7443's for the brake lights, and then 7440's for the trunk lights...dangit!

Some recent close-ups of the front grill, LED high/low beams and fogs and the taillight quad stop light mod.
Wow - got any links to the LED high/low bulbs you used there? I've not seen any that bright.
Also, what is the quad stop light mod?
