You buy a car for its safety and then don't do what the manufacturer tells you to do??? When it doesn't do as it's supposed to do, you will have no body to be pissed off at but yourself. I love my wife and my kids and ES was a big reason for purchasing a Subaru. If you don't love them enough to want to ensure they are well protected and that your ES is working exactly as designed then.......................

You are under warranty so just get Subaru to take care of it. Batteries can go bad in a year and then, again, last for 5...luck of the draw. Several have had bad batteries but, as @MilesA stated above, could be a combo of things including cold weather.

I have 58k miles, assumed that this would only be covered within the 36k warranty. I'll take it to the dealer and see if this is covered.

 

Sorry...if you would have stated up front that you were outside of your warranty period I would have never responded. Who knew you had 58K miles on your car??? Probably an easy fix yourself anyway.

I have a '15 as well - but I assumed this issue wouldn't be included under warranty.

 

Why would you assume that your warranty wouldn't cover it? That's what your warranty is for.

I have spoken to Edward on several occasions and will use him for my tune. Extremely responsive and you can't beat that level of customer service!

Thanks to both Milkywitness and c3156...now this is the detail that should have been posted eons ago...finally folks willing to share quality information. This is how a forum is supposed to be!

Can someone just take a minute to post some DETAIL around the tune like who? contact number or email? cost? what changes are you seeing in performance? This thread is cryptic so let's get right to the chase for those of us interested in getting more detail and purchasing a tune. Thanks!

Mine started burning oil at between 15-20K miles. Was zero up until then.

Most fuel filters in todays cars do not need to be replaced. Unless you are having fuel system issues or hesitation...then I'd have the dealer diagnose and change only if necessary. Most cars go 100's of thousands of miles without replacing a FF.

I, personally, like the simulated shifts. To me it feels "better". My Son has a 13 Impreza and his CVT just holds an RPM and has a strange feel to it. To each their own but I like the way my Legacy and 17 Forester XT shift far better with the "simulated" feel of a conventional automatic.

Well...I got two letters in the mail today extending my CVT warranties for 10 years or 100K miles. One for my 2015 Legacy and the other for my son's 2013 Impreza. It's official!

 

Stated I don't need to do anything as the warranties have been automatically tied back to each VIN. I'll put the letters in the glove box anyway for safe keeping;)

You can go up to 7 years / 100K miles through Subaru.

I agree subieguy21...no reason cars can't still sound good and perform well while still offering a heightened sense of safety. There are several manufacturers that still offer this...Subaru only offers the WRX/STi which, you can argue, offer the best of all worlds...sound good, fun to drive and very safe to drive.

 

The Legacy was not designed with that in mind...it's a Camry, Altima, Accord fighter and needs to appeal to that audience or it won't sell in the numbers required to sustain itself.

@personatech...I do not believe any additional sound insulation or thicker glass in the mix for 2018.

@subieguy21...too late...they have already brought it to the WRX. Unfortunately, you are screwed my friend...all cars, regardless of manufacturer, will have more and more of the features over the years and, soon, your car will drive itself. Just a matter of time...5 years...10 years...who knows but the Government will mandate, for safety reasons, that all cars must be self driving and you'll need a "special" license to drive your own car. That will be a very sad day!!! I understand your "concerns" but, as others have said, it's more for the idiots around you than for your driving abilities which I am sure are stellar;)

Interesting...I have nothing but positive things to say about my CVT. Unfortunately, I'll never get the opportunity to take advantage of this extension as I, typically, don't keep cars very long and get a new one ever 2-3 years. Already looking for my Legacy replacement and I only have 26K miles on my car. Very disappointed that the WRX won't be replaced with the new platform until 2019-2020...that was my first choice and now I have to look else where:icon_sad: Maybe a Honda Civic Type R is in my future???

It appears to be a totally different head unit. It now uses Tom Tom for navigation too in the 2018. I seriously doubt that our existing heads can be updated to work with apple and android phones. Hoping someone will prove me wrong.

@rob_m nothing will break if the updates are done properly.

I have a new 7 Plus and zero issues with my NAV.
