I believe the only difference between the crossmembers is the cut out for the up-pipe.. And remember, if you get one of those crossmember and racks make sure to the the steering column unit to modify it to fit.
-
WRX and STi racks will only fit onto turbo crossmembers. Also, the steering knuckle has to be modified.
Annnnd the SS rack has the same steering ratio as the second Gen GT's do. That would be 3.2 turns lock to lock. WRX is 3.0 and STi is 2.5 turns..

Ordered 10k/8k coils. Fortune auto 500.
Heard it is better to run stiffer front then rear on these
What will you be doing with your STi suspension? I lost out on the setup I was trying to buy a month or two ago..

A full set of Raceland coils go for $470

IMPE, the 4th generation is the design pinnacle of the Legacy line, and draws heavily on the two previous generations for both the engineering and the aesthetic "look" of the car. This design evolution has culiminated in a stunning, balanced driver's car that is able to go toe-to-toe against several different luxo-models and represent itself very well in each case.
I completely agree with this

I road in 3 last week. They all rattled and creaked and sounded hollow when they hit bumps.
I'm really hoping I can buy an 05 GT before next winter. That'll be my DD and my 96 will just become a street/track beast

I don't know if it's just me, but our Legacy's generally seem so much stiffer and well put together than the 01 and earlier Impreza's

When I first got my GT I didn't know what it was lol my dad just said Merry Christmas this is your car! And I've had her for just a little over 4 years now. These 2nd gen GTs are the cars that I'm truly happy to own, even if there is a head gasket issue! I think the styling is great and I think the interior is functional (excluding the cup holder) and comfortable with overall pretty good fit and finish. Lots of soft touch materials everywhere, none of this hard plastic stuff.
I'm a complete gear head, yet I didn't know anything about Subaru's (especially my second gen) until I was actually given the car by my friends dad. Then, I slowly discovered the awesomeness. My car has held up SO much better than I could have ever imagined. I even drove around for about 4 months with blown head gaskets before I finally replaced them. I also completely agree with what you say about the styling and build quality, inside and out. Also, for what it is, it is such a smooth riding comfortable car and is surprisingly quiet inside at speed.
The cup holder is the most tragic example of poor engineering.THIS, although I prefer it's placement over a center console location. I would alway knock a drink over if that was the case. Plus, it looks cleaner in it's design.

I feel like these cars still look good for their age. No one thinks my car is a 1998!
This is very true. They just don't look like an old car, much less a boring and stupidly styled 90's car. I remember seeing some second gen GT's in my area for a while before I actually gave a crap about Subaru's, and actually wanted one because I thought that they looked really cool!

Man some of you guys have a lot of miles on your cars.. I'm only 70 miles away from turning 170k.

Question:
2004 WRX STI front and rear Sways. Will they work with my 99' LGT? I can get both for 80.00
Not sure about the front, but the rear will not fit. It isn't designed to fit around the spare tire well in the trunk.

Are the sway bars on our Legacy's interchangeable with a 97 Impreza OB Sport? A friend might be picking one up soon and we wanted to see if it was possible to upgrade the OBS sways by swapping from a parts car.
-
And which 25D heads did you use?^^
HLA's or the 97 through 99 SBL heads? There's quite a few differences.
-
^No, NGK is what you want. No need for a fancy plug in a stock car.
THIS plus eleventy million

I have two brand new sets of these. One gold, and one silver. I am willing to sell them for the right price. I am also willing to paint one or both of them to someone's desired color, at extra cost, if both sets are spoken for.
If interested, send me a PM.

swap in a VLSD rear diff (they were standard on 03 era GTs and outbacks, easy swap). now your car changes from 2wd, one front and one rear, to 3wd, one front and 2 rear.
is there a diff like that for the front?

This is a good point. I've only ever looked at a turbo crossmember once and I don't remember anything specific, but the design could be different enough to where you may not have enough clearance for NA exhaust
