argh. i've had a humming noise coming from the front right of my car for a few months now. Thought it was the tires, but after a rotation, still. i guess it's the wheel bearing. Another thing to add to the list.

I'm still here - verify me please.

ditto. my switch gets "stuck" in the window up position and i don't notice it until i press it down to put the window down. it doesn't go at first, but after a few tries, it rolls down, no problem. just sucks that i don't realize that it sticks in the window up position.

ditto. quick shipping too.

nice vid. exactly how i got mine out.

Drivers side rear is so easy I can video tape it and show u how fast i can remove it and install it. Disconnect the connector, rotate the coil pack a certain way and it comes from the top.
i agree. i wouldn't say stupid easy, but after that connector is unplugged, it was fairly easily rotated and pulled up and out.

^ Did you unplug the battery?
If so, you're probably just getting a bit of harder-than-usual "pushing" from the ECU, which is typical after a "ECU reset."
yeah, probably. i reloaded my stg 2 realtime map also which contributed to it.

Just did mine today @ 54K. I must say it was fairly easy. the plugs towards the rear were easier to take out once the wiring plug was unplugged. I just used what was stock, the SILFRA plugs. maybe its just me, but the car feels more responsive.

^ +1 - and msb175, I believe a "knuckle extension" is what is also referred to as a "universal joint," which allows the ratchet to work at off-angles.
cool. thats what i was thinking it was. Thanks!
-
question. whats a knuckle extension? and are the plugs THAT deep that a 12" extension is needed? just making sure so i have all the right tools before i do the job.
-
Remember that the black headed plugs go to the rear coil packs and the white headed plugs go to the front coil packs.
what do you mean by this?
-
nice write-up. this will be my next task sometime in the near future, thanks!

whoa, those look nice. does it have the correct offset?

quickest visit to dealer service ever. went in at 7:20. Came out at 7:50. Seemed like it took longer for the service advisor to "close out" the paper work than it did to replace the part. I did not unmarry my AP either.
-
i'm back home now, no problems... i didn't unmarry my AP because i knew there was no issue with my ECU... plus i stayed a bit an chitchatted with the service advisor, and she offered me a job as well haha... hmmmm stick with mercedes benz? or subaru...
good to hear.

you go in they hook-up a meter on your diagnostic port they read the engine temp only, if it is below 196 degrees and the fans are NOT running the ECM is ok and just the fan relay gets replaced. 10 minutes to replace. if the fans are running then you need a ECM which they order as needed. if it still bothers you take your AP with you. bosco
yeah, thats what i was thinking.
-
well, if thats the case, i guess i'll just unmarry it just to be safe. i'm going in first thing in the morning, so i'll drive to the dealer early, unmarry there and let them work on it. i'm guessing the cel's won't appear right away...right? what if i don't bring my keys? can they still change out the ECU and reprogram the keys later or do they have to do it all at once?
-
Yeah I am just going to take it in. AP in my backpack just in case
..if they have to swap out the ecu, I'll tell them I will bring it back (they probably won't have ecus in stock anyways)
I got my appointment on monday and thats what i'm planning on. i just flashed stg II last saturday. my fans not running constantly, so it should just be a relay swap. but IF they tell me they need to change the ECU, i'll just tell them i'll bring it back after unmarrying it.

odd...that actually happened to my WRX when I had it. Happened once after about a half year of ownership. Hopefully it doesn't happen to the LGT. *knock on wood*

Am i supposed to use this to post a FS? Seems like it's gonna get lost in the clutter.
Anyway, I have a Cobb AP v1. NOT unmarried. Was about to throw it out, but figured i'd give it a shot on here first. $50 anyone?
