  1. That reads slightly odd. I had a comment in there asking how much it costs, then I read the thread and found it. I changed the comment to indicate I don't need someone to tell me how much it costs--that clearer?

It should be pretty obvious by now that I don't have too much of an issue spending money on the car, lol. This project for me would be a larger investment of time vs money. I'm usually able to buy parts, but I'm often short on the available time required to install them :spin: and for the most part I refuse to have a shop to so many several things due to trust issues and the fact that my budget lies somewhere in between being able to afford parts but not being able to pay someone to install them ;)

There is also a huge "is this really necessary" factor with this. MY OCIs are typically under 3k miles with full synthetic...

Gotcha. If you're only doing 3k OCIs with full synthetic, this "mod" is not for you. Mike (not you) is a dead ringer for this as he drives about a bazillion miles/yr and doesn't have the time to keep changing his oil every week at the rate he drives.

  2. Wait 4 or 5 yrs after you get married b4 you have kids. Make sure the marriage is strong b4 you put kids into the eqation. As a divorce attorney, I saw too many people who were eager to pop out kids quickly after marriage. Then came divorce and separation from those kids.

Wedding is this October (have been together 5-1/2 years), and we definitely do want to wait a few years to enjoy ourselves before we start a family. That being said, I don't think it's ever too early to start thinking about being a good parent.

  3. No, I do not. I'll stop posting in here if that's what you mean.

However, kids are in my not-too-distant future. Just trying to prepare for whenever that happens by seeing how others handle different situations

  4. Aside from the fact that it's physically impossible... OH HELL NO!!!!!!!!! Not happening. Not ever.

After my mom passed away, my dad remarried. I have a 9 YO brother and an 11 YO sister. I'm 44. To fair, my dad adopted me after he and my mom were married for a while - he's only 14 years older than I, but still...

You've got me beat- I thought me having a 4 y/o sister (I'm 24) was quite the gap, but I suppose I was wrong!

  5. We used to live in Elkhart, one county east of South Bend. Much less wealthy area. I got tired of going to the movies there since so many parents were short tempered and called their kids names for just being little kids. Hated that.

Actually come to think of it, this incident happened in Roseland... go figure

  6. I had a similar experience with a fellow employees husband and there 3-4 year old son. Can't remember exact age jsut know he was a year or so younger than my eldest. He would tell his kid to "stop being gay" or "don't be a fag" just because the kid acted like a 3-4 year old and pouted or couldn't do something correctly. Now I am guilty of using the term "that is gay" from time to time but I do not belittle my children using these lines and I do believe in tough love sometimes.

Heard a parent (in South Bend, sorry KRB) tell his 7 or 8 year old "stop acting like a retard". Aside from the fact that that word is sensitive to people who know somebody with a disability, that comment unnerved me because that child is going to grow up with such a tainted view on reality from his redneck parents.

  7. I see. I saw that thread about your UOA. At least you want another LGT, so you're not leaving the community :).

I'm actually getting a Mini S as my next vehicle. There's no other car community out there like ours and I've gotten to know a few of the members here, so I will definitely be around

  8. Dang.

OT, what are you selling it for?

Selling the car for? or selling the bezels for?

    Why? :(

My UOAs are consistently showing abnormally high wear, especially in the piston rings and the block. I'm thinking its got the infamous ringland failure. Plus I want a 5-speed :)
