Still have my 05 OBX 5MT, and just picked up a 19 Outback 2.5i premium w/ nav. I'll likely sell the OBXT soon though.

Got a CEL with a Cylinder #2 misfire Friday night so I figured it was time to replace plugs and a coil pack (was planning to do this later in the summer anyway). The rear two coil packs are a PITA to get back on and you really have to feel around to get them properly seated.
I did run into a problem on the rear passenger (cylinder #3). There just was not enough clearance to get the coil pack out. I tried, and I had someone else try. We rotated 180 degrees, we tried going up, down, and towards the front , as well as various angles in between. I ended up scratching up the valve cover pretty good from trying to wedge the coil pack out. I know the XT has a bit less clearance than the LGT, but it was stupid tight and I gave up after fighting it for a couple hours.
I did want to add that I picked up a Gearwrench flex spark plug socket that worked for me with either 1 or 2 1" extensions. I know people love the Snap On one pictured here and it looks fantastic, but this was about 1/6 the price at $12.

Just got mine in. Looks like they may be bare aluminum. Has anyone painted them before installing them? They definitely feel lighter even without pulling the old ones.

How are these holding up?

Does anyone have a spare set of these control arms they want to sell?

Just saw this thread. I've been calling about this recall since late December and no word on when parts will be available. I'm scheduled to drop my car at the dealer tomorrow and pick up a rental in the meantime.

Yes, I read it. And i have 3 kits. Two of which (lows & fogs) were installed on my car got totaled. Maybe people just got lemons. All 3 of mine are 4-5 years old and they still work fine.....
Just because they have been working for you doesn't mean they are fine. I've used DDM kits, Morimoto kits and OEM. DDM is trash. Not to mention installing HID in halogen projectors or reflectors will throw light in all the places you don't want and blinds other drivers.
-
Ok, so here's what my plans are for my 06 legacy wagon
Lows: DDM Tuning's 55w Ultra kit w/ 5500k bulbs (no yellow)
Highs: considering the rare Ness off the HIRs, I'm considering going LEDs, but don't know who to buy them from....
Fogs don't apply yet, as the original purchaser of this car didn't want them.
I bought this car last Friday.....also waiting to see what the original ride height is (made own thread in the suspension forum....)
Did you even read this thread? DDM HID kits are garbage. If you want HIDs then do a complete retrofit. Otherwise stick with the recommendations in this thread.

The connector is not in any way similar. IIRC, you need an i85 pass-through harness. SVXdc sells them.
The connector looks pretty similar. They are both square 8 pin. The main connector changed from 14 pin to 20 pin. Is that what you are referring to?
-
That is for a 08+ Impreza/09+ Forester/10+ Legacy radio, AFAIK. That's when they changed pinouts.
Thanks for the heads up. The seller told me it would work so I went ahead and ordered. The connector itself is the same through so I can remove the pins and move them around right?
-
Has anyone seen this adapter? I sent the seller a message to ask the pinout and plug dimensions.

Just read through this thread. It seems that computer CD audio 4 pin cables are the best source of pins right now? Did anyone find the pins that can be used with the stock i85 connector?

There is one local to me. I tried to buy it, but the owner wouldn't budge on price and it was a bit over my max budget this time around.

Wow, so I just found a silver 05 outback xt unlimited with a manual transmission. If these numbers are correct there were only 2 produced in North America and come Friday I will own one of two!

Can't... unsee....

Bump, anyone know if this is still working? Looking at purchasing a new subaru later this year.

Just went that route myself. I've had the eibach pro kit with stock struts for a couple years - loved it. I just replaced my struts with kyp gr2s. I think they are supposedly rated at about 15% stiffer than stock and based on the feel of my car, i believe it. They are slightly stiffer and at first I thought they were just past my preference level. After a few weeks I have gotten used to them and have decided that they are a perfectly fine alternative to the stock struts.
I was really careful to choose a balanced compromise between daily driver comfort and a step up in performance. I still think that the Eibach/stock strut combo is my favorite but the gr2s won't upset you if you want the same thing as me.
That's interesting. I have Koni's with eibach springs and while I like being able to adjust the struts, realistically I leave them 99% of the time and wish I had a bit softer ride.
-
They are discontinued I believe... I haven't seen them in stock anywhere for a fee months. You'll probably have to get some Epics. They are the same spring
-
How is the ride? I've noticed my cars butt is sagging, did you have to have any spacers in to get rid of the sag?
On the highway it's awesome! In my town the roads suck and it's a little rough. I haven't found the perfect spot for in town driving... At least in my town.
-
does anyone have any experience with koni struts and eibach springs?
That's what I'm running right now.

Long ass thread, but anyone had issues with the Rallye+ lights he recommended?
I stuck them in perfectly good headlights and after a few months, I had a discoloration (which I believe to be melted plastic) right at the focus point of the light.
Never again. (This was a few years ago)
Maybe it is just an isolated incident but buyer beware.
I haven't noticed any discoloration on my headlights.
