  1. Sounds right! are tough cuz u just can't always tell how much torque you're applying , depending on the position of the joint Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Agreed. Let us know how you make out with your new tools! Surprised someone hasn't made a specific subie designed tool given the application. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Godspeed It wasn't complicated, just aggravating. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. The spt 1.5 is a quality catback, and FWIT, my wife says its a little noisy (its really not), but she's ok with it! She's sensitive to loud noises, and she deals with it just fine.
  5. Very helpful to this Connecticut noob as well. Subsribed AND bookmarked... so you know its good! Cant wait to be able to sit down and read it all! Thank you!
  6. still lovin' our kit too. might like it better than the friggin subie ipod integration kit (with head unit and steering wheel controls) that i have on my 09
  7. yeah... i THINK that white clip comes out. im curious now, but it looks like a common trim clip. does it have fins on it. or something on the bottom to squeez to make it skinnier to pull it back through the hole to release it?
  8. No problem... we endured the storm as well. its a mess here in CT. Was in NYC last night, and everything seems to be going ok there. Are you talking about the white clip? Its been a while since i pulled that thing apart... but if you are talking about the white clip - i think you can pull that clip right out of the hole its seated in, and attach it to the console and then pop it in. If we're both talking about the same thing... i wouldnt crimp over the electrical tape. I would crimp, and then e-tape over it. b/c the crimp could damage additional shielding on the cable/wire, neccesitating the need for more e-tape. lol
  9. I cut right into the cig lighter power line. Just cut it. stripped it, and tied it into the ipod line. I used crimp down line connectors and a crimper. then i e-taped the heck out of it. the smallest little thing can pick up interference in a stereo system, especically power leads. you can get a kit with a crimper and a bunch of line connectors at a discount store (big lots, ocean state job lot, etc) for like $10 - good to have around. they usually come with some connectors and the crimp tool. i think i left my 'chip' floating around in there. cant rememebr what the instructions said. i remember the instructions not quite being perfect. but i made it through. i dont think it has alot of room to flounder around in there anyways (if i recall correctly). i routed the cables to the arm rest, and came up under neath. along the way, i used a few zip ties to loosely secure the cable away from the e-brake mechanism the best i could. i drilled a hole large enough to put the head of the connector through in the bottom of the armrest - about an inch from the front side. i then slit the carpet to allow the wire to pass up through. i left about 2 feet to give some flexibility for a passenger or driver. (if not slightly more).
  10. Ours is 3 or so ys old I think and it works with our 3GS and iphone4. I think the first Gen needs a different plug, but not sure....
  11. yep. i think it was an even 100 when we got it. it come with an additional filter, and the ipod cord. the ipod cord is of really high quality for whats its worth. it also comes with the power lead, etc for the charging function. This guy's goal is to make some $, and he makes these by hand... Im ok with paying it. Glad to help a small business out with a good product.
  12. francis - could be the jack on the ipod. Does your ipod sound ok with headphones? My second guess would be the cord that plugs into the ipod (the piece you installed). I would try other mp3 players, etc - see if you get the same response.
  13. i connected my power cable (if u have the pro kit) to the cigarette lighter power lead. I brought the cable into the car (to connect to ipod) via the arm rest. I think i used a couple of zip ties to keep it out of the way of the E-brake mechanism. i simply pulled up the small carpet piece in the arm rest compartment, and drilled a hole that was JUST large enough to pass the cable and the cable end through. I drilled the hole 3/4" of an inch or so from the side of the compartment. Then i just cut a 1.5" slit or so in the carpet and put the carpet back in. i left a couple feet of cable. Some say its too long, but this way i have enough to have it plugged in while the driver or passenger comfortably uses it while plugged in. your first time doing the pro kit, may take 2-3 hours if you go slow, and make some quick lookups here and there on your computer.
  14. our jazzy pro is still going strong about a year later. no regrets.
  15. Im thinking if you buy the kit, print the directions and bring it to any stereo shop, they would be able to do it for you.
  16. it was very straight forward, until the ipod power adapter, and the wording/pics around the board install itself. the directions getting the car apart were seriously precise and clear!
  17. from what i remember, it doesnt get connected to the radio, it just sits in there more or less. a couple parts of the instructions were a bit vague, but it went ok. There were virtually no instructions for the ipod power. i brought the power wire down to the cigarette lighter power... and just cut the oem wire, spliced in the ipod power, and used crimped on a connection. then lots of elec. tape to make sure i didnt have any leaky interference. think i just used one of the 10 thousand stereo chassis screws for the ground. just has to go to metal. I did the pro kit on my wife's car, and it took about 2 - 2.5 hours. that was with me trying to figure a couple of things out, running back and forth for tools, and to the PC to look up things on this thread! it works great though!
  18. just a headsup... the ipod pro kit, does charge the Iphone 4.
  19. Anyone try to charge their iphone 4 on this yet? will it work?
  20. sounds good.. just wanted to make sure my 07 SE is gonna be the same precise instruction as the 05 lgt as the thread was designed to address. thanks!
  21. Just like most of the people reading this thread, still trying to work up the courage to get this done. Stupid question, but didnt see it mentioned in my scan through 57 pages (though, im sure it is)... There is no difference in headlight assemblies between the gt and non gt's right? The same instructions will apply to my 07 SE? just wanted to triple check before baking a part of my car. man, that sounds wrong.
  22. im sure you tried this - but make sure your ipod volume is up... and fuss with the 1/8" stereo jack too (where it plugs into your ipod). Sometimes the jack wears... Pull it in and out, and turn it while the ipod is playing thru the dash unit. See if you hear any change in volume.
  23. another happy customer! Put the 05 outback hitch on our 05 legacy yesterday! And today, i tackled this aux board for the ipod. productive weekend! Used the ipod pro kit. The instructions online (that i saw at least) are not really geared towards the newer aux board, and the pro kit with the splicing needed to wire the power. The instructions for removing the trim pieces are superb. Once you get to the part where you put in the actual electronics, it got just a LITTLE more confusing. Especially since the newer parts dont perfectly match up with the instructions. I was obviously able to work with it just fine though! All in all, took me two and a half, to three hours or so. Taking my time, and getting hung up on a couple stupid things. For the IPOD Power, Ended up tying the power wire to the visible red wire going into the cig lighter in the ashtray... Just cut it, and crimped in a line connection, and electrical taped the entire crimped connector. I just put the ground wire on a screw on the stereo chassis. It works GREAT! I have no regrets and would buy this again in a minute. Have recommended it already! If you're on the fence - do it... It's really a nice finished product, and the install wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. This is the best possible solution for the 05 aux issue. The sound quality is amazing. No hiss from the cd whatsoever. oh - and i ended up drilling a hole right in the bottom of the armrest compartment (next to aux power socket). I just used a one inch spade bit so the ipod power cord could fit through. And i slit the little carpet piece that fits in the bottom to just let the wires through. double sided taped the little carpet piece, so it doesnt move around, and its perfect.
