  1. Because I have dual climate controls, I had to find a 07~09 head unit with climate controls. As others have noted, the 07~09 head units are almost impossible to find. I got mine off ebay from somebody parting out a completely totaled (car was sandwiched) 2008 Outback limited. Given the car's condition I didn't know if the stereo would work. In fact it did not work when I plugged it in so it had to be revived. There were bits of glass everywhere! Thanks to this thread, I just successfully installed a factory aux-in for my 2005 Outback XT limited! I did two things differently: 1. I made my own harness using a network cable (a ethernet cable) instead of purchasing the Impreza Aux-in kit for the HU-to-auxbox harness. To do this, I had to follow the wiring diagram found earlier in this thread. (post # 379) 2. Because of #1, I did not have to alter the circuit board of the AUX-in box. I just used the aux-in box from a 2008 outback and it all worked fine.
