  1. I would like to know this as well. I have done quite a bit of searching and cannot find a definite answer.

Best I've come up with is 50watt @4 ohms. Is this correct?

The stock head unit is 4 x 12W RMS @ 0.1% THD (with a tailwind, downhill). Any claims of greater power are full of ummm... optimism.

  2. msmith - does JL make any type of interface that can connect HD radio to the Subaru factory head unit? From what I hear only aftermarket head units are capable of HD radio.

The only way to connect directly to the Subaru head unit would be through something like the Jazzy mod or via an FM modulator (yuk) or FM transmitter (double-yuk).

For the cleanest results, you can use the CleanSweep CL441dsp's aux input to pipe in the audio from a stand-alone HD-Radio tuner. You will need aftermarket amps and speakers, though.

Here are a couple of current choices:

  3. End-up getting a simple add-on for the factory set-up. All I did was add a mono Alpine 450 amp connected to the Alpine Type S 10" Sub. No need for the clean sweep if you keep the factory door speakers from what I was told.

The factory built-in EQ settings apparently only apply to the door speakers. From what I can tell, the sub is good to go as is. No need for the clean sweep or even to replace the factory speakers.

For wagon owners, the Wicked CAS sub case for $300 seems like a no-brainer. Less than half the cost of the stealth box.

The audio tech felt the quality of the factory speakers was sufficient as is. Otherwise he said if you change the factory speakers out...you'll need to get that clean sweep.

Suit yourself, but the factory EQ affects the subwoofer's range as well... but it is true that you would need an amp and new front speakers for a Cleansweep to make sense.

  4. Just to let everyone know... The Clean Sweep uses some pretty cheap Molex style connectors that tend to fail, both on the circuit board and on the output cables. I've had one installed for about four months and have had several problems with the system just quitting on me. I'll go in and reseat the wires inside the Molex to get the system up and running again.

The installer was saying that he has had a few units where he had to solder connections to the circuit board to ensure a decent connection.

I'm also having grief with the remote out to amp turn on not turning on the amp. We put in a relay that seemed to work for a while, but currently I'm running silent.

Other than that, when it's working the sound is phenominal. I've got it running into an old Alpine V12 MRV F-400 Amp going to Quarts front and rear. I picked up some mounts from ProClip USA and took out their dock cable and replaced it with a Belkin F8V7058-APL that allows for charging and audio input to the Clean Sweep with very good sound. When it's working.

If I come up with any permanent fixes, I'll post.

If you're having those kinds of problems, we would be happy to replace it under warranty. The failures you describe are not common.
