Aussi's get all the good stuff.

i have a 30r with a front mount. the tmic is not going to maximize the 35r. get a fmic and have it done right.
i will say your on the right path to keep the heads and block the same.
-
left the vac line on and just re-routed it to the top.
-
u dont have to remove the intake manifold. but it is a bit of a bitch to get to.
and yes, move it to the top for easier access next time.

just go to the junkyard and grab the hardware off another car.
-
Both will bolt right up. Id recommend a heavier duty endlinks in front to compliment the much thicker swaybar.
The rear has a bit of a different angle, but still should work. Ill post pics today to have as a reference here between stock, wrx and whiteline.
-
wrx rsb are 19mm
tribeca are 25mm

There are two main recipes for 6MT swaps. They key difference between them is the rear diff ratio. Both use 3.9:1 front differentials, but the later transmissions have a 1.1:1 ratio on the rear output shaft, which requires a 3.54:1 rear diff.
Recipe A - 3.90 rear diff
Transmission options: 04/05 STI*, or 08/09 Spec B
Rear diff options: 04/05 STI, possibly 07-09 Legacy GT R160**
Rear axles: 07-09 Spec B (axles 28421AG03B, axle seals 806732200)
Front axles: Regular LGT***
Driveshaft: use a Spec B driveshaft, and replace the differential's input flange with the R160 flange.
(The Spec B R180 has an R160 input yoke, but is only available in 3.54:1.)
Recipe B - 3.54:1 rear diff
Transmission options: 06+ STI (I don't know what the upper bound is, but unclemat used an 08)
Rear diff options: 02-05 WRX R160, 07-09 Spec B R180*****
Rear axles: Regular LGT with R160, Spec B axles with R180.
Front axles: Regular LGT
Driveshaft: Spec B****
i dont see the 06-07 STI diff in either option? im looking at going with the 07 sti trans and diff for the 3.54 gearing. lsd front and rear with dccd.
but from what im reading, the 07 gears werent treated. the 06 is i guess?
what are some other differences other than the gear ratios?
i basically cant use an 06 trans with the 07 diff and get 3.54 gearing?
so from what i gathered between the 2 threads is this.
07 STI trans
07 STI shifter linkage
Spec B Shifter Rod
Spec B Shifter Stay
Kartboy short shifter
dss driveshaft and rear axles
07 STI rear diff
Spec B rear diff mount
DCCD controller
ACT 6 puck clutch (since my BRAND NEW act 6 puck from my 5sp wont fit)...
am i missing anything?
-
thank you so much for that. i think the custom driveshaft is a better way to go to. ill probly get dss axles versus spec b axles. i dont want axles breaking on me after this.
basically right now im hunting for a stock 05 lgt trans to hold me over till i can find a 6sp. or just keep looking for an entire 07 drivetrain.
-
12 pages of....
i cant seem to find the simple way of doing this. theres not one post with all the answers. there scattered all over the place... can the 1st post be updated with the correct info? (or more options listed for the 05+, not just newer legacy's)
i have an 05 LGT with 4.11 gearing and want to see what my options are on what 6sp to get. (i want lsd front and rear)
basically looking for an 06-07 sti trans/rear. but after reading thru this thread. idk if its a 3.90 gearing or 3.54 gearing. after researching i find the 06-07 both have 3.54 gearing. but here you guys say no. so this gets confusing trying to find the right info without getting to technical.
so if wanna go the simple route, i can just swap in a 06 STI 6spd/rear diff/dss rear axles/clutch (which is 3.90 or 3.54 final drive?) and need nothing else?
if i wanna do it all.
07 STI complete drivetrain - trans/rear diff/clutch (which is 3.54 gearing) also the hubs/axles/brakes... correct? will my stock driveshaft fit or do i need to replace that to?
am i missing anything? do i need the STI brake booster and master/slave cylinder for either trans option?
now what if later on i wanna do a 5x114 swap. which setup is best to go with?

my next project:
looking to trade the front brembos for 06-07 wrx 4pots plus cash.
powder coat the calpers black w/ a white "Legacy" logo, new slotted rotors and pads.
then install all 4 calipers, hubs, axles, wrx bb and mc. (note, not using wrx rear axles)
