Back on the road again. Still a few items to remedy, like my borked DP bung threads. Need to have my new Invidia bung welded in and swap out the crusty old DC sports DP. Besides that, I think I'll be good until spring. Until then I'll be saving for blast plates.

Replaced axle seals, reinstalled front axles, front suspension buttoned up. Need to reinstall prop shaft, fill trans, install downpipe, intercooler, and we're back on the road. Fingers crossed for this weekend! Gotta admit I'm a bit nervous for the test drive...

Yeah seems like nobody has any quick enough for my needs. I'll just have to go easy on the throttle for awhile. Thanks for the links!Have you checked around the web ? that sucks, they are back ordered. I think there is another brand out there.http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/alternative-moore-performance-blast-plates-259690.html

My wonderful wife assisted me this morning getting the new transmission installed using my patented two Jack method.
Now I just need to get the new downpipe o2 bung welded up and it'll be ready for back roads before the salt hits the streets.

Looks like the blast plates will have to wait, they're on a 20-30 day backorder. I have until December 26 to get this trans installed and tested before its warranty runs out.

Got everything moved over to the new tranny today, shift switches, wiring, mounts. Replacement innovate LC1 sensor and stainless weld bung inbound for the new Invidia downpipe. Should hopefully be able to use my Uni's Tig equipment in the mechanical lab later this week. (It pays off to keep up with the current Baja SAE team as an alumni). Also gonna order a new TOB just to be safe since mine was squeaking.
Still debating whether to do a cheap gear oil fill and drain after some light driving once everything is installed just to be safe since this unit has sat for awhile with open axle holes. Planning on finally filling with Motul Gear 75W90.

The old gearbox is out! Just need to transfer shifter bushings, sensors and wire harness, and gather some new exhaust hardware and gaskets and we'll be all set. Oh, and some blast plates.

Unfortunately neither of those resources have the info I'm looking for, for this exact transmission.Check this website.http://www.gearhack.com/myink/ViewPage.php?file=docs/Subaru%20Transmission%20Chart
Actually, this PDF is better. The first is missing quite a few transmissions.

Anybody find info on the JDM legacy gear ratios?

Checked the old fluid tonight in the new trans, and everything looks great. No shimmer in the oil, and no chunks as I would expect from a gearbox with less than 55k miles (as stated by the seller JDM engine pro). I got a bit curious about this unit and googled the part number TY757VDCAB and determined from Rallispec's trans catalog that it is from a 2006 JDM 2.0R Legacy, but that's about it. It would be nice to find out if the gear ratios are the same or different. I'm almost positive it has an open front diff and viscous limited center. Anyone know where I could find that info? Anyways, I'll begin disassembly this weekend, and should hopefully have the car driveable again by next weekend.

That'll be the first thing I check. What dose the fluid look like that's left in it ?Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

Well it's been awhile. Gonna keep it short since I'm on honeymoon, but I'm ready to get this thing moving again. I picked up a used low mileage 5mt from jdmenginespro on eBay and received it last week. Seems in good condition and shifts through all gears smoothly. Aside from transferring sensors and harness, anything I should consider checking before install? Maybe axle seals or output shaft seal?
The 4runner is great, but I can't wait to get some boost back into my life...

3rd gear is totally gone. Every other gear sounds like a blender. It happened at lunch rolling into boost in 3rd, luckily limped it back to work.
Hoping to have an 06+ STi drivetrain to install this winter after all the wedding expenses are sorted. I miss driving this car so much.

My Bilstein HD struts/shocks with epic engineering springs will be up for sale soon. They have maybe 15000 miles on them, and have seen 1 Ohio winter, with mixed autox and non-daily commuting. No idea what to price these at...

Wasn't me, I'm usually between Loveland and Forest Park.

What does losing a gear feel like?
Like a suddenly free revving engine and crunchy grinding noises. Limped back to work in first gear with more terrible noises.

Went for a spin at lunch and lost 3rd gear. Such is the woes of a Subaru owner...

Well, here's how she sits now. About 1-1/2in lower in front, and 1in lower in the rear. It really looks perfect at KW's default ride height.
Next steps: camber plates, rear adjustable arms, corner balance and autox alignment.
Then wider meats.

Nice! I just finished mine over the weekend. I set the front at 48mm and the rear at 38mm. It's sitting 26" floor to lip both front and back. Ride is much nicer than I expected. Firm, but not harsh. Obviously handling is much better.
That setup looks incredible! I can't wait to feel what this is like at opposite ends of the damping adjustment spectrum, and everywhere in-between.

New vs old. Rears are bolted up, fronts go on later this week.
How crucial is corner balancing really going to be to get maximum handling for autox? I have a shop in mind, but would prefer to just get a max camber alignment.

I'm down for a spirited cruise just as soon as I get the new suspension finished up.

Enkei GTC01 17x7.5 225x40r18 lowered on Bilstein HD & epic engineering springs. Bit of a backwards rake from the SpecB tophats.
Soon to be 17x8 245x35r18 RE71R on KW V2 coilovers.
