Bought in June 2004. 55k on the odo. Kept it stock except for AP.

I'm meh on this news, it isn't as bad as when they killed the Legacy wagon.
-
@Bemani, I too had considerable issues with the airbag recall and damage that had to be fixed by the dealer. Makes me wonder who the heck they're hiring and also what kind of shit material is being used -.-
Sorry to hear its not an isolated incident.
Yeah I put off doing the 2nd air bag recall because the 1st one was such a disaster. They also scratched my radio the 1st time, I got about $100 from that after they told me they couldn't order a replacement. I have a double din now so I've mostly forgotten about it.

Each air bag recall left some damage to my dash, Subaru agreed to replace the dash after I contacted the dealer after the 2nd recall, but I had to pay $100 copay (their reason was that the dash was already 17 years old). Car was garaged and only has 55k miles, service advisor said that the dash came out easily like a new car. Turned out pretty well, rattling is gone now too.
1st air bag recall left this crack:
Crack appeared a month after the 2nd air bag recall (done by a different dealer):

Got this from Amazon, looks just like OEM. Mine finally came apart after 16 years.

05/04 on the door and I bought it in mid June, so it probably had its 16th birthday this month some time.
55k on the odo. I don't drive it enough.

Thanks, call blocker didn't block a call from that number yet.
-
Because they're so easy to sell?
Shouldn't be difficult. I've had random people make offers for my wagon.

Buy the best LGT or XT available, but keep looking for something better even after you bought it.
-
Which area code is the Subaru call from?
-
Replaced front o2 sensor. Any other ideas
Much cheaper to not do car washes than fixing it. Are you jonesing to spend money?
-
Does the one under the air intake definitely have a filter?
I have an 05 and I coudln't find one there either. Stuck a picking tool in there and dug around and nothing came up.
-
Yeah all the sti uppipes are compatible.
-
Did they try to get you to trade in at the dealership after giving you that 10k estimate?
-
I'm actually surprised that only front CV boots were torn after 15+ years.
Also I had to replace control arm bushings and my AC leaked. All age related stuff.
-
Still got the same car! 51k miles on it now.

Wouldn't the drain plug be the lower one? Otherwise it wouldn't drain.
-
The problem with 235/40/17 is that they're almost all competition tires.

Get the 15lb wheel.

LFB is also useful in our turbo cars so you can keep one foot on the gas and keep the turbo spooled while braking with the other foot. You just can't do that too often or you'll run out of vacuum for the brake booster.

Just got my letter this week. My dash isn't perfect, but it was made less perfect during the first recall. Can't wait for this one.
They gouged my dash and scratched my radio in the first recall...
All they need to do is remove the glove box to get to the air bag right? Maybe I should do all the trim removal myself before hand.
What did you do to your 4th gen. Legacy today? Vol - 10

Yep, I had to buy the whole assembly, $1200 just because a plastic thing broke.
I wonder how fragile these are, if yours broke from autoX. Age and driving on dirt road probably did mine in. I'll have to be more careful where I take the LGT in the future. This is the car I take to visit National Parks since I can sleep in the back so it sees a lot of unpaved roads.
