  1. I'm still having some issues with my 5EAT after replacing a bad VB and resetting the TCU, correctly.

If I go medium hard on the throttle, I get a kick when gears change from 2nd to 3rd. I also will get a kick on downshifts periodically.

I can drive it around and avoid the kick by driving slower and less punchy on the peda. But if i push on it a little bit, it will kick from gear 2 to 3. Same happens on the downshift.

I replaced the VB in October 2017. Reset my TCU with the above mentioned method...

    Any advice is welcomed.

    thanks and happy 4th!

  2. That rear control arm bushing (the larger one) looks exactly the same as the one that came stock on my Spec B which is why I opted for the Mevotech arms - the bushings look more substantial than the stock (and MAS) bushings. If these bushings wear out <100,000 miles, then I'll spring for the Whiteline or another bushing with added caster.

GOOD POINT. Anyone buy the mevos or others listed here and swap out for Whiteline bushings? On the fence if I should just swap bushings while my MAS arms are not installed.

  3. 2008 LGT 5EAT throwing a P0700 Turbine Speed Sensor 2 error. Is the sensor itself a replaceable item by re-soldering or do I replace the entire valve body? If the latter, where is the best place to aquire one? I'm guessing the dealer will ream me with an OEM.
  4. Thanks for the boost of confidence. I'll search around for the writeup.

Can you give insight on where to find a reputable valve body?

I'm guessing my options are from a junker or rebuilt...

    I'm looking at this Sonnax:

    thanks for the help!

Honestly it is not that hard. I can swap out a 4th gen LGT in 2-3 hours with clean up.

I believe Dave has a install write up buried on this forum somewhere. His instructions are probably very thorough.

  5. Thanks mSprank. What advice can you give me on replacing/fixing the valve body? I'm guessing my options are:

    - Dealer

    - Mechanic, of which, I have no connection or dedicated dude

    - Self-repair

I'm up for the challenge but I have no trans experience and am purely a hobbyist guy. DP, suspension, brakes...

In my experience the issue is the valve body. Once, and only once have I found a loose connection causing the issue. Of course to find it, I had to go through the entire troubleshooting flow chart and find the issue just before the "replace valve body" step. This is once in 15+ years of working on Subarus.
  6. Mine stock 08 5EAT is intermittently throwing P1710 TORQUE CONVERTER TURBINE SPEED 2 SIGNAL. From what I've read, It could be "a dent in the trans pan" to "a failing valve body".

Although this post isn't about diagnosing 1710, I'm searching for options to cure the problem. Any word if TransGo will work on 08? Before I go find a spare valve body, want to make sure I get the best bang for the buck

    thanks!

  8. Any thoughts on cat back aftermarket exhaust which is fairly quiet when using very small throttle opening, yet really gets it done when using more than half throttle?

I really like my setup - Invidia Q300 quad-pipe, though you'd get the same sound with the Q300 dual pipe. It's burly on startup and quiets down when idles at 1500. Upon blipping the pedal and under acceleration, it makes some great sounds, really unlocks the boxer rumble and isn't too loud overall.

Stainless steel, great construction also make it a good choice though depending on where you live, you might not need it.

  9. Can't decide between 06/07 Spec B Rims for my 08 SWP LGT. Photos attached of other cars with the aforementioned RIMs. One thing I run into is terrible winters in Chicago, potholes and potential replacement costs.

With Rota Gravels, i'm thinking hyper black or anthracite.
