  1. So by controller, you mean the resistor, right? (I've had mine for a bit, but haven't gotten around to installing them yet) - where did you mount the resistors? I was looking at putting them on the brackets and have them attached to one of the headlight mounting bolts, but need to pull the bumper to get to it (or slot the bracket... I might do that) - weekends have been tied up for a bit, so just haven't had a chance!

Yeah, I guess I meant resister since that’s what they’re calling it.

  2. Alright, so here’s the “against the garage” pics. I took one of the controllers out so you can see the brights vs DRL mode. They’re pointed in the same direction, but it’s supposed to be 800 lumens with the controller in DRL mode, 2500 as high beams.

  3. I hate to say it but the drl still looks like it will blind oncoming traffic. Maybe take a pic facing a wall so that we can see “the a$$h0l3 driving with the high beams on “factor

Yeah, I kind of noticed that when I posted the pics. I wonder if I had the control boxes on at the point when I took this? I'll try some more pics tonight and see if there's a difference.

  4. I bought damn near the whole from setup from VLED (low beams, high beam/DRL, and fog lights). I wish I would’ve taken before pics, because it’s so dramatic when compared to the stock ones. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

  5. Doesn't look like there are a lot of differences - nothing was called out in the new vehicle info for the 2012 related to the transmission. Comparing the service manual, there are differences in the transfer case (two additional needle bearings and snap rings in the transfer drive gear, the shift bracket is also a little different), the shift lever on the transmission looks to be a different shape, and the lock plate for the differential side retainer was moved in the front differential.

that's just things that are visibly different in the service manual - I would check part numbers for pieceparts to be sure nothing else was changed.

All the connection points are the same as far as I can tell. I would think it would drop in.

I ended up finding a used trans for a good price, but it’s nice to know that this would be an option, so thank you for that!

  6. Hello everyone!

My transmission just took a dump and I’ve been pursuing options for replacement. I’ve seen Brendan’s STi swap thread, and to be honest, that’s a little much for me to undertake right now. I was curious of 2 things:

    1) I noticed RalliSpec has upgrades for a lot of Subaru transmissions. However they don’t specifically notate that they work with our trans. Does anyone have experience with getting their trans upgraded, or know for sure what parts are compatible?

    2) I noticed when looking at used transmissions that there are different part numbers for the 2012 GT (TY756VLCCA) vs the 2010-2011 (TY756WLAAA). Does anyone know what the differences between the two are and if that’s drop in compatible with my car?

    Thanks in advance!
