  1. So I put 225/45-17 Pole Position all seasons on and they had a very surprising effect . . . no more bottoming out up front with my Cobb springs! I'm amazed what a difference a little more sidewall and a wider contact patch can do. I purposely ran over all 3 of the spots that I had hit the bump stops on before and now it's just your typical bump thud . . . no bang, crash, or jolt at all. The ride overall is completely different, very noticeably more smooth. They also obviously provide more ultimate grip, they're really not easy to break loose. The only negative is that I can feel a little more play in the additional sidewall height when cornering hard. So I solved the bottoming out problem, but gained an engine problem in the meantime. It never ends with this thing . . .
  2. Wow, that's impressive. Good to hear! I figured the dampers would be shot within 30K.
  3. We would have had some if my car made it to my meet. ripjeep and I need to get our cars together and take photos next to one another. If we don't find time between now and 8/29, we'll get pics together here: http://occsubarumeet-fbnews.eventbrite.com/
  4. Eibach's are the best compromise between ride quality and looks for sure. If you have flat roads and demand the best stance, Cobb FTW.
  5. You're taking the 1/2" comment out of context, it wasn't regarding appearance or ride quality, only whether it would make a difference in the snow. As for the saggy butt, the Eibach's do suffer from a little of that. I noticed it right away looking at it, but I have a pretty critical eye.
  6. I said 1/2" won't make a big difference in the winter/snow, and that's the truth. (at least here) Ride quality, now that's another story . . .
  7. Haha, I don't think anyone on Cobb's will have to worry about that more than someone on Eibach's. It's only a 1/2" difference. The 1/2" will make it a lot easier to scrap parking blocks though, I've come mighty close a few times.
  8. That's true, I have an architect's eye for things being level.
  9. RipJeep's ride height and my own are very similar. The back is most likely identical, I think his front end is a little higher than mine though. Mine sits pretty much flat, his looked slightly raked. You outta ask him to measure from ground to the bottom of his wheel well arches front+rear to get an exact comparison. After 2000 miles on Cobb springs my final drop was: Front:1 1/2" Rear:5/8". More numbers: Bottom of wheel well arch to shop floor: Front stock: 26.5" Rear stock: 25.75" Front Cobb unsettled right after coming off lift: 25 3/8" Rear Cobb unsettled right after coming off lift: 25 5/8" (yes, the rear was actually higher than the front) Front Cobb settled in after 2000 miles: 25" Rear Cobb settled in after 2000 miles: 25 1/8"
  10. You're going to need some serious fender rolling at the very least.
  11. Lol, at 14.5K miles on my 08 I'm on the third seat frame. Clearly at a whopping 180lbs the frame should be cracking on me left and right. Yesterday I think I found my permanent solution though: http://www.corbeau.com/products/fixed_back_seats/fx1_pro/ They even have the correct rails for the LGT apparently.
  12. There's a lot more than Eibach info in this thread . . .
  13. I loved mine too until they completely broke in, now I just like them very much.
  14. I'm glad you like them! Definitely give a 1500 mile review when you get there, as I learned, the spring's nature can change quite a bit during that time frame. I'm very interested to see the comparison in stance between our cars at my meet.
  15. Ok, update on the Cobb springs . . . now having over 1500 miles on them the ride has become more harsh now that they've settled in. The stance looks simply phenomenal, however, decent bumps/pot holes freakin hurt. I've definitely bottomed out the front end a couple times. With that said, in my personal opinion: if you don't mind having to dodge/slow down for bumps+holes and you do lots of meets/shows, go Cobb . . . if you want a more liveable DD, I suggest Eibach's. Edit: The car has now had 225/45-17 Bridgestone RE960AS's on for 5,000 miles and the ride is MUCH smoother has never bottomed out once! Love these tires! Here's a good pic of the final stance: http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu325/tunedlgt/IMG_2148-edited.jpg
  16. Thanks buddy, as for my rubbing issue . . . my ghetto fix is holding up pretty well. http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu325/tunedlgt/CleanedPadded.jpg
  17. No, you'll actually be riding higher on the Spec B suspension. As for the dampers, the OEM dampers/shocks are pretty awful. As for springs, the Eibach would probably be a good choice from what I've heard from others. PS If you decide to do a spec B damper/spring swap, you're gonna need the spec B top hats as well.
  18. I keep forgetting to get "after" photos of my car in front of my garage, but here are a few photos that were takin in the past two days: Stock suspension: http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu325/tunedlgt/Picture001.jpg After Cobb Springs: http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu325/tunedlgt/IMG_1133.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu325/tunedlgt/IMG_1250.jpg My LGT on Cobb springs + stock wheels (17") and tires next to an LGT on stock suspension and 17" rims: http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu325/tunedlgt/IMG_1265.jpg I also have a depressing problem now . . . when the car went up on the lift to get an alignment Friday I noticed that my SPT exhaust piping and sway bar were REALLY close. They used to be about an inch apart, no longer. It's more like at rest they're 1/8" apart and when I hit a bump they rub. As a ghetto temporary fix I wrapped a little header wrap around the swaybar and ziptied both ends tight. This Thursday it's going back to my local aftermarket shop to see if the exhaust can be moved at all. Fitment issue: http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu325/tunedlgt/IMG_1130.jpg
  19. I just put 20 miles on my new Cobb springs and have three words: sex_on_wheels! I'm honestly still completely blown away at the performance. They are SOO SMOOTH! No harsh ride at all whatsoever. After 15 miles I went to a notoriously sh*tty railroad crossing and nailed it at 40 mph: no bang, no creak, no abusive feedback at all. They just rolled right over the gaps in the road and following bump. The drop is quite honestly extreme though. When the lift was coming down I was like, "ok that's stock, oh that's nice, that's nicer, oh my, oh sh*t!, damn this thing dropped!!!" Numbers . . . Bottom of wheel well arch to shop floor: Front stock: 26.5" Rear stock: 25.75" Front Cobb unsettled right after coming off lift: 25 3/8" Rear Cobb unsettled right after coming off lift: 25 5/8" (yes, the rear was actually higher than the front) Front Cobb settled in after 2K miles: 25" Rear Cobb settled in after 2K miles: 25 1/8" Stock SPT midpipe to shop floor: 4 7/8" (bounced the mid-pipe off the street twice on stock suspension) Cobb springs SPT midpipe to shop floor: 4 1/2" (haven't hit the mid-pipe on the street yet after 5K miles) The body roll was reduced drastically as well. I used my same favorite on-ramp to gauge this: Stock suspension: epic body roll, squealing RE92's at 50 mph Perrin 22mm sways+endlinks, both set to soft on RE92's: no whining tires, slight lean at 55 mph Sways+endlinks set to front stiff, rear soft, Cobb springs, RE92's: no whining tires, flat cornering at 65 mph (addition): Sways+endlinks set to front stiff, rear soft, Cobb springs, Bridgestone RE960AS: flat sticky cornering at 70+ mph . . . So far I say two big thumbs up! Pics coming Friday!
  20. Lol, the roads I typically drive on are pretty badly beat up from the salt and winter, but I'm gonna chance it on the Cobb springs. They go on tonight, so we'll see how it goes. I should have comparison pics and measurements up by Friday night.
  21. Cool, I'll have perfect before/after pics regarding the Cobb springs by the end of next week, including clearance measurements for the SPT midpipe.
  22. Go to your home page, user control panel, paid subscriptions (under miscellaneous on the left bottom part of the page), then order a vendor status.
  23. I will make sure to take pics before/after in the same location to get a perfect idea of the drop. They should be going on next Wed.
