  1. I am at 121,000 right now and she runs great.

Just replaced the radiator about 1,000 miles ago.

I replaced the CV Axle Boot and the clutch at 115k as the boot had ripped and the clutch failed.

Had done water pump, timing belt, and thermostat (as well as all fluid replacement) at 103k.

Hoping she'll keep running another 50k trouble free but some of the turbo posts I see have me wondering? The banjo bolt looked clean though at 115k.

  2. Just rolled over 220,000 miles on the body today. Thats 75,000 on the replacement long block- the last 8,000 with Cobb 2+ SF tune.

Car's been through three owners, previously unmolested (minus the replacement motor and gold Rotas). The only real problems so far have been the turbo & engine failure for the first owner and the uppipe going out on me at 212k. Constant regular maintenance throughout it's three owners along with many replacement parts along the way (blower motor, struts, control arms, bearings, etc.). As far as I know the only wrecks shes been in are two run ins I had with a couple curbs in my first couple months having her. Three rims and some suspension parts later, my lesson had been learned.

What would you attribute the blown motors to?

  3. We got two members with +275k miles on OE blocks and turbos on this page.

I'm only at 154k miles as of today ;).. Mine eats very little oil over 3k-4k miles intervals, and turbo doesn't make a peep just holds 16psi like a champ. Annual Blackstone reports looking great, and will have another done this May. My trans functions like new, but needs center diff transfer bearing R&R, is noticeably noisy in cabin and has been so for about 50k miles.

I like the sound of that!

117k here. Original motor and turbo. Only modification is Eibach Pro Kits at about 30k on original struts. Still going strong! Rotella T6 and Pureolater PureOne PL41610 every 5k. Work on car has been maintenance or wear items. Just replaced clutch this past weekend. Timing belt, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, all fluids, etc.

  4. Checking in....

05 LGT wagon 5mt 195,000 miles as of 1/5/15. Water/timing replaced at 175,000 just before I bought it. Original turbo, stage 2 Cobb, catless everything. Had it dumped after I bought it and registered 257hp and 274ft-lbs. Ran a 14.flat at the drag strip this last summer..

Currently I run a 50/50 blend of Shell T6/ Amsoil 0w30 with a OEM RX8 oil filter. For this winters set up I gathered some OEM wheels and plasti-dipped them bronze and they are holding up well. This spring will bring a new BOV GFB respons.

The JDM double din has been eluding me this far but that would be my final peice to making my car just the way i would like it.

Nice. Was this the first timing and water pump replacement done?

  5. I was originally going to get the Bilstein HDs, but their price is steep and frankly, I don't use my car hard enough to justify it. So I'm going Koni inserts, as well. They seem to be popular here. I have Eibach Pro springs that've been sitting in my garage. Hopefully it'll happen by early summer, I've not bothered modding my GT much since I bought it, too busy with projects for my house. :) Not to mention my work, my wife's business, travel for various reasons.... blah blah blah.

You sound exactly like me! I've been looking forward to modding the LGT once I paid it off, but now that I'm getting closer to my last payment, I have recently bought a house and a whole new world of debt. Since it's a fixer upper, all my "mod" money is going on fixing the place up!

I'm on Eibach Pro-Kits on stock struts and I love the ride of it. I'm thinking of picking up some Koni's because I'm worried I'm on borrowed time with these stockers. Let me know how they ride when you get them on!

  6. Is installing epic springs on stock struts with 120k a bad idea?

    will ride comfort be crappy?

I only had 20k on my struts when I swapped them and after doing it, I wish I would have bought new struts. Not because the ride is bad, but because it was such a PITA. Would have been nice to be able to pull out the stock strut/spring assembly and just replace it with a new one all-together.

  7. Stuck with an 08-09 silver GT today coming in to work on 84W in Hartford. Cleared headlights, tints, CTSubie sticker, and exhaust. I'm assuming you were going skiing because you took the 91N on-ramp. Car looked sweet!

At first I read "stuck with" picturing two Legacys literally stuck in the snow on the highway and thought "that's unpossible" with the way the snow is right now, but then I figured it out. Sounds like a nice car, though.

  8. So how are the Eibach's holding up for everybody in the long run? I'm looking at getting some for my 05 LGT. I want a bit of a drop, but not too much as its a daily driver and I still want some comfort. Thinking of putting these on my stock struts, running about 90,000 kms currently (55,900 miles) Whaddyasay?

That's what I run, and I like the drive they give me.

I do notice a strange noise coming from the rears when I pull out of my work parking lot. I take a left to merge onto traffic, and there must be a bump there or something because it only happens there. Same with my driveway. Anytime I'm turning and hit a bump, they make a rather strange noise. If I get back there and put some weight on the trunk to force them to compress and spring back, there is no sound. Anyone else notice this?

  9. Let's try this. The stock ride height per the manual is 15" from the wheel arch to the center of the hub for the fronts. The rear is 14.4" for the sedan and 14.8 for the wagon. These dimensions are +.47 and -.94 (quite a spread, huh?). What are you measuring?

Looks like about 13.75" front and back, give or take. I guess it did drop it a bit, thanks CBRRICH. So, if 14.4" in the rear, dropped about .75". (Or, if the low end of the tolerance range, it didn't drop it any...).

It's weird, though the measuring tape result is almost the same front and back, yet I have a two finger gap in the back, and a three finger gap in the front.

Here's where my Eibach's sit after a week and a half of settling, dimensioned from the center of the wheel.

  10. slick-if you look in the msi group buy thread they have posted pictures of msi springs (essentialy eibach's) after a few weeks of driving. they settled and have a 2 finger gap all the way around.

this drop looks perfect. check page 23 & 25.

Okay, maybe I just need to give it a little more time. I took one one the front struts out and resat it. I'll give it until next Monday and see how they sit.

Something's wrong. It should be lower. Take them off and try again.

What could I have done wrong though? The springs are seated up against the lower notch, so I'm not sure where I would have messed up. Maybe sitting up against the top hat, but it doesn't seem like theres a proper way for that to sit anyway (besides drain holes being on the outside). Granted it's my first spring install I've ever done, and did it by myself.

Edit: So I just posted some pictures, but did it in my own thread so I wouldn't clog this one up. Appreciate any help guys!

  11. I've not paid attention to this whole exchange, so forgive me if this is incorrect, but...

I recall needing "butt spacers" for the rear suspension, with the Bilstein struts and aftermarket springs. Some of the aftermarket vendors sell them, in a couple different widths.

    Correct?

The Bilsteins might need them, but I have a GT not a Spec B, w/ the stock KYB's.

  12. It's a Bilstien problem, cut half a coil off your front springs. I had to do this with my cobb springs as the front didn't go much lower than stock

I have a GT though, so it's not Bilstiens.

The ends springs aren't seated all the way up against the "notch/ramp" on the bottom, both seemed to move away from it about 3/4" when I was decompressing the springs. I'm wondering if that was enough to change the height.

I may take them out again and try to redo the fronts. I may also try to re-adjust the tophat a bit.

  13. ^ My car is due for inspection here in MA, I have the Invidia Quat Tip I hadn't even thought about it, but if you are still running catted dp/up then there wouldnt be an issue. The dealership said it shouldn't be a problem.

Thought Mass banned any aftermarket exhaust?
