  1. It just pulls out of the dash. There are four (i believe) tabs that lock it in, and two plug ins that will hold it part way in, but to get the main portion loose i usually just take a screw driver with the tip wrapped in tape and get it between the cubby and the dash. Then just gently pry until part is loose, then give it a good tug. Getting it back in takes more finesse since you have to line up the vent tubes before you pop it in place.
  2. Just watched these videos, and I have a 5EAT!!...lol. Scruit's videos are awesome, especially the in car stuff so I just had to watch. I gotta say, that was extremely well done. Both your narration, and your editing is amazing, and (to agree with E-Tank) you do a wonderful "piece to camera." This should be a sticky, like, now...lol. Good job helping educate the community on a fairly complex and difficult repair procedure.
  3. Go easy on the car till the fluid is warm. Avoid having to accel that fast till everything has had a chance to warm up a bit and you will do the tranny a big favor. From the sounds of it its just normal operation of a cold tranny.

The clunk on downshift is normal as well. At least normal to me cause mine does it. Though mine isn't as much of a clunk as a "bump" you can feel while rolling from 20mph down when it shifts 2 ~ 1.

  4. Heading north today from another long trip to tennessee this weekend. On the home strech just south of Ann Arbor Michigan on 23 saw a GRP I think, LGT wagon, with tint, possibly lowered heading southbound around 6 ish. Also saw another LGT or OBxt wagon earlier, grey or black on the Ohio turnpike somewhere between cleveland and toledo around 3-5pm heading east. Coudnt tell cause I was moving fast and only just saw the hood scoop and roofline briefly.
  5. Well Ive been on the road for 6 days, and covered 2300+ miles and sadly, only saw three other LGT's, no OBXT's, and 2 STI's. The only ones I bothered to write down so I would remember to post here were the LGT's.

I'm not positive on any of the years, since it's tough to pick out the grill or foglight differences while going 80MPH on the expressway, but Ill give my best guess.

    1. Thursday 16th between 11am and noon, 05-07 BSM LGT Wagon traveling West on US 2 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan about ten miles from the Mackinaw Bridge. Possibly with tint?

Nothing else till today on my drive home...:(

    2. Tuesday 21st around 3pm, 05-07 RBP LGT Sedan on US 41 just north of Germantown WI Traveling South. No Spoiler.

    3. Tuesday 21st around 4pm, 07? DGM LGT Sedan on Us 41 Between Oshkosk and Neenah also traveling South. (nice looking car BTW, even in the rainy weather)

  6. The hard shifts sounds normal, until the trans warms up a bit. My first few shifts in the morning are like that. When it's really cold it takes a couple seconds at 2.5Krpms before it will go to 2nd. Perfectly normal. The noise you are hearing might not be. Hard to say without hearing it, but I do know that any auto trans, not fully warmed up, will make some odd noises when it shifts. What RPM's are you running when it's doing this. I keep it under 3K, till the car warms up a bit...not really good to beat on it while it's cold.

Oh, and the downshift to first, what speed are you doing it at. Much over 15mph and it will feel pretty hard....

  7. I rather enjoy the rarity of seeing one of our own. It's fun to see if the driver is paying as much attention as I am and I always try to give a nod or a wave. I noticed the other day a blue legacy 2.5i driving around my town that had some cutie driving it. I gotta try and meet her. do you think hitting her will get her attention? haha. Maybe just a love tap next time I see her.

Depends, if she has any idea about her car, or is interested in cars in general then approaching her because she has a similar car might work....on the other hand if she is the type of girl that drives the car and doesnt even know that oil needs to be changed every now and then.....the whole "Hey, thats a nice car" will just sound like "Hey, you have boobies." :woowoo:
