In speaking to Teds senior legislative staff member Mary Nichols was discussed. He felt that as long as the program was defined as a green program where each vehicle would be evaluated on its own and assuming that the vehicle passed the one and only sniff test that Mary Nichols would not be anything but a bump in the road.

 

Also you have to understand that if such a law existed? Ms. Nichols would have no choice but to implement the amendment or law in its entirety.

 

What concerns me and most people like myself who would love to see this change made is the passive nature of the people in the Sport Compact Community. I am and have always felt that we all have to jump into the fight if we are to prevail on any issue. These type of issues need the relentless and on-going support of the entire Sport Compact community.

 

As you are all aware, you might as well keep your vehicle stock if you live in California. Because under the prevailing CARB/Star laws you have little choice. So I would expect that all Performance oriented Sport Compact vehicle owners in the State of California to stand up and let your legislators know you expect that they would support those folks who have converted their vehicles to Green vehicles to be granted special exemptions.

 

If you do not support this effort than you can kiss any future hope of being able to modify your vehicle and drive it on the streets of California. Because the noose is tightening folks and your the target!

Are you new to California? Mary Nichols is the most powerful person in America on environmental issues. If she is against it, Jerry Brown will veto. On second thought, if she is against it, it won't even see the light of day.

Not sure if the 08-09 VB mod is going to ever be available. Afaik Dave has discontinued work on it. Sadly, I am now looking at the possibility of parting with my 08 5EAT. It never has reached its potential.

Yeah that's a shame. I basically castrated mine and gave it to my Daughter.

In Dave's defense, he did something no one else was willing to do. And there must not be any money in it or he would nail 08-09 down. I have nothing but admiration for the Man.

Saw a white LGT Wagon with bronze wheels going pass the intersection of madison and hazel

Saw a white Gen4 LGT sedan with white wheels just South of Madison at about 6:30 PM.

Having a discussion on smog checkpoints over at Calguns.net in the off topic room. Poached this comment:

I work at a smog shop. OBDII is plugged in for a rpm tach signal, also reads the ECU, checks for monitor ready status.

We have 2 ESP smogs machines. 1 old, and one brand new, newest version. Same as what the CHP uses. There is no way to read if you've had a reflash from the machine. Dealerships can access it and see that it's been flashed, but not a smog machine. No way it can read if the fuel tables have been adjusted ect."

 

Who else loves getting jerked in the parking lot cuz you let off the gas before the 5EAT shifts into 3rd. lol

 

This ALWAYS happens to me. Heck, just happened to me tonight! I began accelerating across the Wal-Mart parking lot. I felt it shift into 2nd, but right before shifting into 3rd gear, I had to slow down cuz pedestrians were crossing the street. My 5EAT decided to shift into 3rd anyways upon decellerating. Big CLUNK noise, & everyone looked at me like wtf lol

Mine does that too and I hate it. The behavior of the 5EAT is bad enough I've gotten to where I pretty much shift it manually all the time now.

Seen 3 lgts today. Obp spec b in galt around 6 pm. Blue 08 09 legacy with spoiler wat don julio around 7 . My clutch is shot. Bummed out

on my 08, in 2nd, I can shift to third at high RPM (maybe 6ish) and it'll take long enough that I'll bounce off the rev limiter....

 

doccrowley's endorsement makes this mod look like the ultimate transmission mod.

Hmm. My '08 has never limited revs per se. It just shifts by default.

Are you saying your car does not force a shift at 6500 RPM or so? I don't think I've heard of an '08 doing what you describe.

How about this: I'll take prepayments once I have a proof of concept and am sure I can meet demand. Everyone happy with that?

Sounds like fun. I like Mosquito Ridge Road just out of Foresthill.

Great road. Last March I drove it and came across a patch of knee high snow. After much consideration, I decided to try it....and got high centered on a chunk of ice. I chipped away at it with a rotten stick until the coyotes started howling. Jacked it up and drove it off to get out. This road is remote. I was on it for 6 hours and never saw another car.
