I have stock rotors (which Subaru replaced once) and Endless SSMs. My problem is vibration starting when I do, say, three or four 80-50 mph hard brakes. Not sure if it's the rotors, the pads the heat or what. I just want some good, solid braking at high speeds (not the time you want the car shaking from vibrations). Seems to go away when it cools.
+1
Did the new rotors elimate the vibration? I got a little shimmy.

Racecomp (aka GTWORX tuning) recommend Swift. They told me they feel very very similar to Pinks on Bilsteins. Myles has bottomed out his Spec B on Pinks although many others I've spoken to do not have an issue. Given the spring rate the Pinks should be a little more comfortable, but in a performance environment Swifts will be better.
STI Pinks (@$400)
3.9kg/mm F, 5.9kg/mm rear
drop is 15mm all the way around on Bilsteins, although pictures and reviews suggest it's closer to 20mm.
Swifts (@$280)
Specifications:
4F007 MY05 Legacy GT Wagon (BP6)
Drop - F:-25mm, R:-15mm (Bilsteins)
Drop - F:-32mm, R:-25mm (USDM KYB)
Rate - F:4.3kg/mm, R:6.6kg/mm
4F008 MY05 Legacy GT Sedan (BL6)
Drop - F:-25mm, R:-15mm (Bilsteins)
Drop - F:-32mm, R:-25mm (USDM KYB)
Rate - F:4.3kg/mm, R:6.6kg/mm
Check this out....

I may just save my money, part out the Legacy, and buy an EVO X when they get here.
and leave the subie family?

Spotted...'07 spec b. Seemed to be lowered, stock rims. Older gentleman....driving north on Bel Air Road Rt. 1 near Overlea.
-
mid to high 60's today.....growlin.
-
If we can get this resolved before it warms up, that would be great. If not, we may have to have our friends in the north to help (Canada).
-
Hell, I'm local to SPEC....
I'll email them and see what they have to say....
Hell, drive over there.

Just received a reply back from "Dave Norton", and he said "They are currently seeking a sample flywheel from which to begin design. And to stay tuned and check back soon...."
Got a similar email back.
I sent him the OEM part numbers for the fly, pp, clutch and a link to 1stsubaruparts.com.
I also mentioned not to make the flywheel too light as most all of us want to avoid chatter. He said that they would never make a really light fly for a "heavy" awd car.
I replied back and asked him if he knew the GT was only 3300-3400 lbs.....near the weight of a WRX.

Sample...OEM? I'm sure someone has a fried one that could be sent.

so it's the ECM that's causing the relay to fail?
no bad relay.

Do you ever drive in -20 degree weather?
no, thank god.
-
Guys after you drive 20-25 minutes or so, does it go away for you? It's completely gone for me by that then.
-
It's cool. Keefe seemed pretty convincing to me. But I see where bushings could very well be the most likely.
-
Don't shoot the messanger.
-
Keefe may chime in here today....but he thinks it has to do with the engine pulling timing....common issue for most. (currently TDC st.2 93, had same issue with Cobb 1.15 st.2 93) He could feel the vibration in the floor board while in the passenger seat. The noise in the rear could be just the side effect of the engine pulling timing...causing the vibration. We found no suspension issues, car handles fine, no odd noises. No drive train issues either. After about 15-20 minutes the noise became harder and harder to reproduce and eventually we couldn't get it to do it at all. Next step...data log.
BTW...drove Keefes car:icon_mrgr
Thing sounds mean with that single straight pipe. Handles great!
-
Sir Keefe, Lord of suspension and tires will be checking out my growling noise tomorrow. Let you know if we find anything concrete.
-
boy, the number of people with the problem is sure going up.
Growling/Clunking noise in rear while accelerating hard in 1st or 2nd ??
in Turbo Powertrains (2.0GT, 2.5GT, 2.5XT)
