  2. Taking my 06 lgt sedan in today, was told two hours and the guy thought they needed to remove the dash...time to take a bunch of pictures and videos of everything working and hope they don't break anything.

+1 do this. Be sure to take pics of the edges where panels meet. When they completed the work I noticed a nick on the edge of the dashboard. I couldn't remember if it existed before they started work on it. Not a big deal either way, it was really small. But if I knew for a fact that they caused it, they'd be fixing/replacing it ;)

  3. I just bought a bunch of organizing systems for my garage between black Friday and today. There will be some transforming happening before the end of the year.

    - Hang Overhead shelving

    - Install 240v outlet for Plug-in charger

    - Install custom shelving

    - Hang wall organization tracks

I attempted to do the overhead shelving myself, but ran into an issue where the joists didn't line up to the standard overhead mounting system. I'll need to put up some custom mounting making use of some wall cleats.

I'm also paying some guy in my neighborhood to install some custom shelving in my garage. I'd do it myself if I had the tools. He quoted me $500 for his labor, and materials.

Once I get everything off the floor I plan on epoxying the garage floor. After the floor is done I'll go back over the garage and finish the walls. Finishing the floor and the walls probably won't happen until spring/summer of 2017

  4. Found this, and now I'm wondering about it. I saw Underdog cutting the inner tie rods, but was it necessary? If so, 6-8mm seems fine.

Yes it was necessary to ensure you have full adjustability down to the last thread on the tie-rod. There isn't a lot of room for adjustability with the tie rod ends because the point where the threads start on the STi tie-rods are further out than on the LGT.

Next question, OEM, Reman, or? If I could source a wrecked STI, that would be my best bet.

I sourced mine from a wrecked STi whose parts were on ebay :D. It came with the STi u-joint too!

Next question...what are the major challenges in the swap? I've been reading up, but haven't found anything of the sort.

The most difficult part for me was bleeding the system. It took me a number of tries to get all of the air out of the system. At first I did my best to bleed the system without the motor on. Once I got all of the air out that I could, I turned the car on and the fluid started to "froth". I checked all the connections for leaks and there were none. I had to turn the car on and off a number of times to bleed the system and allow the "froth" to dissipate. After the froth was gone, I drove it around and the system continued to bleed air as I drove around the block.

The second difficult part, which wasn't so difficult... Do make sure you center your steering wheel before you pull off the old steering rack, and keep it centered at all times. Also, be sure to center the new steering rack before installation. Mating it up with the U-joint and ensuring both the steering wheel and rack are centered will be a slight challenge.

  5. ...

I am thinking of painting all of the engine covers copper orange/gold like the strut mounts of my coilovers, and colour match the oil, washer, PS, brake fluid covers to the colour of the car, just a thought what do you guys think?

Don't do that. That would be a little too much, IMO.

    ...

The headlights are bad enough to irritate me whenever I look at the car. :spin: But I have been told that I need to upgrade the IC before going to stage2

    decisions, decisions.

You DO NOT have to do the TMIC to go Stage 2. In general, stage 2 equates to (Up-pipe, Downpipe, and computer tune for those items). Stage 1 would just be doing the computer tune.

There are a number of other things you can do during stage 2 (TGV, Injectors, intake, TMIC, EBCS, etc.) that would require additional computer tuning, but they are not required to be considered "stage 2".

In general, Stage 3 is when you do your turbo upgrade.

I would do my headlights over a TMIC.
