what do you guys think about the quick fitting for fueling up ?
definitely ingenious and something I haven't seen. Would be a great plus if you did some serious offroading and came across a stranded Jeep. Not sure about day to day necessity, but then again if we only did what was necessary, we'd all be driving 3 cyl cars around
-
^ so you could, for free, tune his car, drive it around and tweak whatever parameters you like, as often as you like using a GM ECM??
I think that's what he's getting at.

There's a glove specifically made for oil changes that has a dish built into it so the oil doesn't run down your arm. I can't find it online though.
Here ya go
http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/MTPS/PIT-STOP-OIL-GLOVE-6PK/
for the price, I'll get oily
... group buy??

I looked at the pic at first and thought "WOW that's a big ole filter under there" then I laughed. I lapsed for a sec and forgot that aint no 2.5
And are you sure you should be towing with that thing... can it really handle the loads
-
^ as for adding turbo, I considered it with my 2.5RS Impreza, and everything I read and was told, was basically to sell the NA and buy a WRX. For the cost and reliability of adding a turbo to a NA engine, it wasn't worth it. Or do an engine swap to a turbo 2.5. I'm guessing that will be the general consensus here.

Methinks he was being a weee bit sarcastic.
Damn the interwebz!! Sometimes that stuff just doesn't come through

Very good argument on the insurance part Merc6. If you were injured from a side impact and an adjuster with a little knowledge realized you didn't have OEM seats... they'd probably drop the entire claim and you'd be screwed....
I would be leary of playing around with resistors and the airbag system... but it just wouldn't make sense to me to disable the entire system if one component was missing.
What if you had an object on your back floorboard and slammed on your brakes, causing it to roll into your wires and disconnect your seat airbag then you rearend the car in front of you.... sure would suck if that disabled your ENTIRE system...
Anyway... its probably best to get the right seats as far as insurance is concerned.

Im just going off what the previous owner told me. He said the front airbags shouldnt be affected by he thinks the side bags arnt working. I love the seats they make the interior but im not sure if I can keep riding around not knowing wether or not if i wreck those bags will deploy.
Was side airbags a heavy decision on your car choice? I understand the desire to want functioning front airbags, but if you had bought the car a few years older it wouldn't have come equipped with the side airbags anyway.
If you truly require side airbags, so be it, figure out a fix or offer up a trade, lots of people on here would probably be willing to put STI seats in their LGT.
Just wanted to offer up a different perspective. I know side airbags aren't high on my list when looking into my needs for a performance car.

This is still utterly amazing to me. I think you should submit your story to a buick GS magazine (I'm sure one exists) this is stuff enthusiasts on both sides eat up.
-
your Thanksgiving is on a different day than us American's eh? Maybe you can get some time in before you eat your turkey (or moose or whatever you guys eat ) C'mon Frank, GET ON IT!! j/k impressive thus far. Keep us updated!
-
The project hasn't really started nor am I getting the impression it will, aside from just talking about it.
Good luck should you ever decide to do something, frank_ster. /unsubscribe
:lol::spin:
Is this guy out there now? Wonder if he's has check this thread recently?
Progress is amazing thus far. I am AMAZED how quickly you have gotten so far on this project, and the fact that you are trying to make all the stock interior guages work.
Keep up the awesome work and vids!
-
I like your logic... maybe I'll try that with my wife on my next car or mod.... Amazingly it's true though, I tend to laugh at all the riceburners around here that I KNOW I can blow away, but feel more provoked by the closer competitors* lol
(* all provoking and racing is done on closed course by a professional driver )

Awesome Work Frank_ster! I've been off the grid for the past week and just got caught up enough to read through the past few posts. Can't watch the vid right now (damn work firewall!) but I'll view it tonight, sure it is awesome. Can't wait to see this thing in action making some laps.
What are your final plans with the beast? Just fun project for show and tell or will your race/drag it? Just curious. keep up the amazing work!
-
you frank_ster are either an engineering mastermind or one hell of a computer graphics guru.... I'm still debating. After seeing blue people fly through the woods in Avatar... anything is possible.. are you George Lucas in disguise working on your next project?!?!

I think you are proving him WRONG!!!!
Keep up the awesome work and teaser updates.... can't wait to see it in action.... you do realize we are gonna wanna see some youtube footage
-
all this makes me wish I put more effort in during college and actually used my engineering degree in my work today..... Having a BSME and working at a bank sucks....
-
What are you doing working... we want results and we want them NOW!
Well I suppose you DO need a way to fund this project. Looks good so far, keep it up I can't way to see a vid and some completed pics.
-
Update? I'm curious how this project is coming along.
-
WOW!! Kudos for being unique and different.
I find it amusing when someone spurts a miscellaneous argument against what you are doing then you quickly reply with a thought out response as to why you are doing/using what you are and how you feel it will work best, like maybe, just maybe, you know what you are doing here....
Keep it up, I CANNOT wait to see this thing happen. I am a die hard subaru fanatic, but mostly for the reason that I love how different they are, thus all the more reason to love your mod.

I used to be in Clemmons - I voted W-S... but I just left the area and my job at Wachovia two weeks ago. I couldn't have time the job switch any better
I'm up in beautiful, almost heaven WV now!!! Some awesome windy country roads to test the LGT on
Anyone looking to buy a house in Clemmons let me know.....
-
There's alot of us Mountaineers here too... the real ones from WV not those App guys..
At least for the short time... I'm heading back to the beautiful land of WV.... lots of mountains and 4 actual seasons can't wait to get my Legacy into some snow and get good use outta the AWD
-
as for the 2nd press, I did a write up on Nasioc a few years back, same mod essentially on my '05 impreza, sounds like same wiring from reading.
The polarity IIRC was a ground signal. I used a relay to pop my trunk... ordered a cheap magnetic pull from e-bay.
I have hated the damn two press unlock since I got my '08, probably will get the nerve to get under there this summer.
I am ineterested in the window rolldown.... keep us updated on the parts you get and where you get them...
-
I think we are the only ones on this thread:rolleyes:
I'll take all the plastic parts and you can get the leather.... now we have to find a *safely* totalled suby, but aren't they all, after all , It's What Makes a Subaru.. yada yada
-
I am starting piece by piece....
My e-brake boot was cracking (apparently a known problem for '07 & early '08) so I took it in and asked for a black leather one in place of it.... its on order now
Anyone wanna trade the center plastice piece of the console???? go for a nice two tone???
