  1. Finally got the engine mounts straightened out. Ended up putting he originals back in place. So the engine is back in place. Rebuilt shifter some. Replaced radiator and intake. Once I add oil, coolant and power steering fluid I can try to get her running again.

Need to replace a ball joint and get a battery. Still not sure what I'm going to do with his car. The chump vision seems to be dead. Might just get it road worthy and take a loss on it. Just glad I had a good shop day mostly.

  2. thanks for the recommendation. I think I am going to keep everything relatively stock and without a tune. The first things to go in will be a stereo system, an exhaust (or a muffler if I can find one), and some springs. If I go for some tuning I will definitely keep them in mind.

    thanks again

Yes it is a very fun car and twice as nice being its a wagon. I am very satisfied :)

If you still have a cat in the up-pipe, get that sucker out of there. With that and a exhaust you could get a stage 1 tune. Car will feel smoother, little power bump and if done right, It's safer for your engine. You might see a little economy bump as well. Of course at that point your only a down pipe away from stage 2... slippery slope. Enjoy your wagon.

If your doing springs, do struts at the same time. Stock struts won't hold out on stiffer springs. If you can't swing both of those, do sway bars now and springs/struts down the road. Check your Front LCA bushings. And search "banjo filter".

    Here's my Wagon:

  3. Hey everyone. Just wanted to say hello from Raleigh/Durham area. I recently got a 2005 LGT 5EAT wagon OBP.

Shoutout if you are in the area

Check out these guys for service needs if you have not already. They rebuilt the engine and road tuned a friends WRX and he was very satisfied with them.

  4. Spotted GRP sedan in Greensboro last Friday, you were in left turn lane on wendoover turning toward Moses Cone. Was in wife's Forester, just visiting in G'boro for a few days. Was good to see some tar heel fan flags for a change...
  5.

    Following that logic:

    Stock LGT: 78.1/21.9% F/R, 1760 ft-lbs brake caliper torque

    STi brakes: 73.5/26.5% F/R, 1973 ft-lbs brake caliper torque

    LGT F/RB 316 R: 76.9/23.1% F/R, 1887 ft-lbs brake caliper torque

    LGT F/WRX 2-pot R: 71.8/28.2% F/R, 1912 ft-lbs brake caliper torque

    Can anyone confirm these calculations?

It looks like to me the WRX rears shift the bias and increase overall force due to being a "stronger" caliper than the stock rear. So if you were to upgrade your front calipers with either the RB or wilwood Front 4pot using the stock rotor size, it looks like the WRX 2-pot rears would be a decent choice for swapping the rears?

  6. As far as OHV goes, I guess most folks on this thread are not old enough to know that Subaru literally built their reputation for reliability on the OHV EA series. OHV with a direct gear camshaft, No belt or chain. not powerhouse by any means but one of the most dependable engines of its day. They are still used today by kit plane builders if that gives you an idea how reliable they are.

When they did go to overhead cams they were able to close a bit of the power gap with the competition, but reliability suffered.

    enough OT

  7. I just don't get it. If you want a 600hp car why would you start with a legacy? The drivetrain and the rest of the car were never designed to take that much power. even if your transmission and center diff don't shatter, the halfshafts and rear diff may be constant points of failures. Even transmission mounts and whatever engine mounts you have to rig may be subject to loads beyond what the chassis can take.

It's your car and your choice of headaches to do such a swap, but I just don't get it...

  8. BTW, I apologize for not waving to a couple of Leggy drivers here in Asheville. Pulling out or into Ingle's in North Asheville a wagon driver waved (before I found this website) and I just kept on driving. Another black sedan I saw on merrimon ave. Theres just so many subarus here I wan't sure if I knew the person or what, didn't realize it was a legacy thing.

I think that wagon driver could have been me. Was a little while back, I was pulling out of Ingles... GRP Wagon.

  9. I'm in Asheville, but I'm a little busy to be hanging out (girlfriend will be here for a month;)). Plus, I will soon be heading to VA for a few months. I've seen only 4 other LGTs so far here, which is kind of nice considering the number of subs in this area. I believe the dealer here is the #1 dealer in the southeast. I have to say, I enjoy my LGT on the curvy mountain roads here.

Elk mountain rd off of beaverdam is a nice hill climb. If you follow it far enough, I think it will drop you onto the parkway and you can take town mtn back down. Don't wash your car first, gravel section if you go all the way through...:)

Also like HWY 63 north all the way up to hot springs. Or you can turn left at the junction with 209 and head west out to waynesville...

  10. Spruce Pine. Finally got to put the conticontactextremes on some white fluffy snow last week...

Have lived all over central to western NC. Asheville, Brevard, Statesville, Chapel Hill, Waynesville...
