-
hey, I haven't tinted them yet, but thanks for the info, I'll get in touch with them and see what I can do!
-
thanks everybody. I need to stop spending money for a little while, then tints.
-
Yea, probably like 3 square feet at least?
That's so small compared to the roll sizes that are sold- I can probably get you a little piece though, do you have a pic of what you want to wrap?
-
Pics or BAN!
I need to have a cool looking photoshoot sometime..soon! Bethlehem steel mills probably..

Matte black, like you used.
and you just need it for a center console piece, like just a few square feet of it?
-
Thanks.
I wonder how the vinyl wrap would hold up on rims. Seems like it could be cool.
I have the '06 5 spoke wheels (kind of wide)
Do you do this professionally? Seems like it's way out of an amateur's league.
yeah the 5 spoke wheels are on the easier side. you'd just need to make them veryyyy clean before you wrap them so the vinyl sticks well. and even if the vinyl doesn't hold up really well, its such a small job it wouldn't be too bad. I also do think it would hold up for a decent amount of time (unless you go banging it on curbs)
ha, professionally- no. I had wrapped little things before like the trip, a laptop..but this was my first (and last? haha) car
I especially wonder how the vinyl would hold up on rims in winter -- they take such a beating. I do know that the design of the 5-spoke oem's does allow for significant snow/ice buildup on the inside of the wheels, which can be really annoying once you get going (because the weight being off makes things shake). I wonder if the vinyl would help reduce buildup...potentially could be useful to wrap just the inside and not worry about doing the spokes. ...maybe?I don't think it'd change the snow or ice

Sick! Question: Where'd you get the vinyl? I'm looking for a small roll to cover an EDM console box.
A friend of mine spotted your car a couple months back. Came up to me and said,
Dude! I just saw a flat black Legacy (forgot where lol) and it looked fuggin SEXY! You should paint yours flat black too!
Me: Did it have gold wheels?
Him: Actually, yea it did.
Me: *Pulls out my smartphone, searches this exact thread and shows him*
Him: That's the one!
Me: Yea, it's vinyl. *Shows him the process*
Him:
What color/finish vinyl?

Dumb question:
Can you vinyl wrap rims? Would they hold up?
Dumber question:
How do you wash/maintain the exterior after wrapping it?
They're good questions.
My brother wants me to wrap his rims for his x5- the one problem I could see is with wrapping really complex/tons of spoked rims. I don't know about durability for this tho
washing- NO waxing (ever!), no automated car washes that touch your car wish those octopus things- I either hand wash or take it to the local sheetz automated (touchless) car wash
-
yeah, I had my share of scratches on the car as well as some rock chips. You can't see any scratches or smaller chips through the film at all, and it is really good for covering stuff up. If they chips are big enough, tho, you'll be able to see the divots or what not through the vinyl
-
bump... does anyone know something that cortez and I don't know?
-
durability: I've gotten tons of mud, sap, etc/ on it for extended period of time, after its washed its back to normal. Up close, its flat black vinyl...hmm I'll post a pic. i would post more pics but its still raining. if it ever stops... I'll go shoot some good ones
-
Jazzy,
I sent in payment yesterday, please PM me to confirm you received it

hey everybody... ironic that I literally just finished putting on the replacement vinyl, and just finished? nice timing!
Looong story.. it kinda sucks that it took so long.. I'll post about it later, with finished pics as well- I have to go wash the rest of the car before I can take pictures of it

spotted a silver LGT with rims pulling a boat on route 78 just across the PA/NJ border this morning..
-
I have bad luck...
Friday the 13th
Got hit with a chunk of semi tire, scratched up the paint on my front bumper, reallly scratched the hood vinyl. sigh
-
you can't see any ABP in the door jams now, I covered the inside of the gaps where it previously showed through
-
Haha thanks everyone. I'm really anxious to get the new vinyl in so I CAN FINALLLYYY FINISH THISSSS
-
I'm having the problem vinyl replaced, and I will redo the doors when I get it in..hopefully next week! and yeah, I'm glad I waited for the bumper- having to do it twice because of the defective vinyl would have sucked!

I'm pretty sure that was me. Your vinyl job and exhaust look nice! At first I thought it was DGM..and then I thought it was painted flat black.
