  1. For a guy who builds his own ARs and buys high quality ARs, it's confusing me to as to why you buy a gun known for jamming and breaking. There's a reason they discontinued it.

Is there no better .22's on the nanny list?

There is the buckmarks on our ca roster. Not the newest one but the model before that.

  2. well i'm in CA, i'm not gonna fight back for IL.

i got my own anti-gun laws to worry about.

    Get the 805 Bren.

even if the version 2 potentially coming out? i think it is called the 806 bren 2? seems to offer some upgrades that people have complaints about in the 805 bren.

  3. 10+ round magazines have been illegal for sale or purchase in CA since 2000. An injunction blocked the states attempt to make possession of a "hi cap" magazine an offense punishable by a $100 fine and up to 1 year in jail.

If in possession, you must be able to prove you have owned the magazine since before 2000.

It is up to the state to prove u didnt own it before 2000, plus since the punishment is a misdemeanor, the statue of limitations is 3 years. So the state has to prove u bought, imported, manufactured that +10 mag within the last 3 years.

  4. So nj is going ca stupid with the 10 rd limit? Welcome to my world. Well at least in ca possession of+10 rd mags is still legal so u just have to get some then plead the 5th, as only buying selling importing or manufacturing +10rd mags is illegal in ca unless you are a cop then most gun control laws dont apply as they write in exemptions for cops
  5. The two outfits are local to socal so I doubt you guys have heard of them

    First was http://www.stcrispian.com

    Then current is https://artifexcc.com

I know that self training has limitations, but maybe part of the problem is that I dont take enough time between classes to really practice the things that get taught in the classes before I take the next one.

But either way in the end, if I am feeling like I am not learning anything, I should take a step back and self evaluate before I waste more money.

  6. Dunno if my expectations are too high or forums/youtube has skewed my views or the training outfits I choose are bad but I have gotten disillusioned with taking gun training.

I feel like with the good free info out on the web, the goals I want to achieve in terms of guns proficiency, can be obtained without spending the hundreds on these classes, but just through self practice.

  7. So sad. Thats worse then people not driving their cars! Only engraved guns would I be reluctant to shoot.

Pics of the octo barrel? I think those are so cool.

You guys see the new 50 State legal "Moderated" Black powder rifle that can be sold direct to consumer?! They actually decided (after "Never Shoulder, Never Forget) to get an ATF determination letter. But it ended up stating that its completely legal.

    https://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/2017/09/20/silencer-maxim-50-a-50-state-legal-suppressed-muzzleloader/#disqus_thread

Yea, Kommiefonia's head just exploded. I also like the use of "Moderated".

No head exploding here in cali. The anti-gun politicians and state AG stopped it the same day silencerco released it for sale. 2 other states too. We still cant own a "moderated" musket. Ca has own laws on suppressors and what is considered a firearm that is different than ATF. Actually most of us ca gun guys that were looking into this knew it wouldnt be legal in ca and that silencerco didnt do proper ca gun law research. They thought the ATF ruling was all they needed.

I mean we got politicians like this guy

That literally says they will make laws whether or not if it is constitutional cause they dont care.

  8. I dont waste my time with interweb stories from people who may or may not know. I pay my lawyer $310 per hour for the info. He would be the one to defend me against prosecution.

Until the laws are pushed and someone gets prosecuted we do not have any court decisions to use for reference or precedent.

these two statements from you contradict each other. even the lawyer you are using isn't 100% sure on how a local DA will go with these new laws until there is a case.

either way. you got your interpretations on how to stay within the law, and i've got mine.

and yes, i never listen to FFL's concerning gun laws, nor even about guns. they are just there to process my DROS paperwork, and some suck even at doing that.

  9. No 80% is legal in Cali anymore. They are considered a "ghost" gun. Any 80% that was purchased had to be assembled by Jun 30 2017 (as far as I read the regulation). Now they have begun the registration process for them. But have not given exact guidelines on how to acquire and stamp the serial numbers, etc. It is a shit show for sure. I have yet to register anything. I have time to decide still.

For anything I have not based on an 80% its just as bad. Never mind the registration process. Once registered the firearm can never be modified. You cant change ANYTHING. You have to supply PIX!!! If you dont want to register you are supposed to make them zero feature. To me registration sounds like the first step towards confiscation. I doubt you will find too many LEOs ready to volunteer to come take my firearms.

Another violation of my constitutional rights by the state of California. The legislature feels the 2nd amendment stops at your front door. By that logic the the first amendment should stop there too, no?

for the 80% ar lowers, they are all still legal as long as upon completion they are built into configurations that are currently legal, locked magazine (cannot remove magazine unless gun is rendered inoperable by way of opening up the action or featureless (no pistol grip, no flash hider, no collapsible buttstock).

you cannot register 80% built lowers into the AW registry unless they were completed and configured prior to Jan 1 2017. (But since 80% are by nature hard to track, if you bought an 80% last year, who is to say you also didn't finish it last year? ;))

concerning changing parts of your registered AW rifle, i think you are taking the super cautious side as fact. currently there is nothing in the law that says you can't change parts after registration. All they are asking for currently is pictures of how the gun currently sits. nothing in the law states anything about keeping the rifle in the exact same configuration afterwards.

if you use the prior AW registration as guidance, all those rifles that were registered are allowed to change anything short of the serialized part. if the DOJ tries to make it more strict (which they are not allowed to do) then 2A lawyer groups will file suit, and it would make it easier to argue that this law is unconstitutional and get struck down.

i think you need to visit calguns and read the laws section of the forum before you cling to the doom & gloom outlook you have and conform to exactly what the anti-gunners want.

  10. I was running it on an 18" barrel too, I can only imagine how shitty it would be on a pin and weld 14.5" or an SBR.

Also as a side note my Dreadnaught F2 on another rifle is far more effective and doesn't blow dry my face every time I fire the weapon.

Precision Armament makes some good stuff, but the M4-72 sucks. I have an AFAB on the rifle I pulled the M4-72 off of, much better balance of attributes and function.

Well thats not good. I have one mounted on my 20in barrel ar15 built as a wannabe spr that I haven't shot yet. (Been lagging on getting the lower coated and engraved)

Guess i'll find out how bad it is when I do finally shoot it

Oh I also signed up for my first uspsa club match this weekend. Thought I would try my skills at the pistol game to see how bad I suck. Haha. I'm gonna focus myself more on accuracy not speed and getting the muscle memory built up before pushing speed. As my training instructors said, you can never miss fast enough.

  11. Completed the initial paperwork and licensing application for my CCW today. Should hear back in 7-10 days about the personal interview (as long as I qualify). From there it is a long drawn out process (up to 24 months) of proving my "good cause", clearing a back ground check, neighbors interviews, Live Scan, psych eval and more. Estimated cost when complete is $1200+. If I do not qualify my $300 deposit is lost, minimum.

For some reason I dont remember riverside being that expensive nor taking that long. U sure u got the stats right?

Even oc county doesnt take that long nor cost that much

  12. Because that is what you are supposed to use when mounting suppressor compatible muzzle devices

Huh, didnt know that. Guess since in CA where suppressors are illegal I never had to come across this.....

    Thanks for the info.

  13. *sigh*

Finally finished the 18" AR and was going to install a suppressor muzzle device on it and my Tavor X95. Of course my only tube of Rocksett has solidified.

So rifles back to storage and ordered a jar of Rocksett.

Why are you using rocksett on muzzle device? I use anti-seize on mine

  14. On a side note... I was just informed today that the new "assault weapon" regulations in Cali are even more draconian than previously thought.

Prior to the end of 2017 I will have to either convert all my "assault weapons" to new Cali spec or register them as an "assault weapon". Among other restrictions. This I already knew. Today I learned that there is a "limit" and specific regulations for those above the "limit". The "limit" being 5 registered "assault weapons". If you have 5 or less the state is allowed to "examine/inspect" your "assault weapons" every 5 years. If you have more than 5 the state is allowed to "examine/inspect" your "assault weapons" every year.

    I am not pleased.

Please cite a source as no one on calguns have heard of this requirement from the regs

Edit: it seems your new info applies only to assault weapons permit holders, not registered assault weapons. Permit holders are a different class of people than the average gun owner that has to register their new assault weapons.

  15. A locked and unloaded weapon that can be accessed by the driver is legal. But only in certain circumstances. However, it is frowned upon by our local Sheriff and law enforcement. If you want to push your luck, you can. But I am not a prosecutor, so I dont push it. I dont carry one gun to the range, I usually take 4 or more. Which means plenty of ammo too.

I also dont understand your reasoning. A locked and unloaded gun is not concealed carry. Far from it. If it is not loaded with a live round in the chamber and on your person, its not concealed carry and you might as well not carry a gun.

The only gun that is going to save your tush is the one thats live and loaded in your hand when the pooh hits the fan. I dont get having unloaded guns for protection.

If shtf in CA the most likey scenario is earthquake. If the freeways/roads get taken out between my work and my home I would feel better to have my pistol at side.

I have zero fantasy dreams of being a hero and pulling a gun to stop a robber or terrorist. My first duty is to find safety and escape from the danger. I am not a cop, I will not risk my life to save little timmy from jidhadi jim. I am a person that took the best available step in self protection without being able to obtain a chl due to stupid anti-2a politics.

  16. I have loaded magazines in the same bag as my guns. Of course not in the weapon just in their own compartment and have the whole bag locked

And I am in california also.

I also lucc (locked unloaded conceal carry) a pistol when going to work. I have to leave it in the car as work has no weapons policy but otherwise also legal w/o ccw license. Since california doesnt have a destination requirement for firearms. As long as u r traveling from one legal place to another and follow all transporting laws it is gtg

Sprank for a guy with the amount of guns u do I would have thought u would be more well versed in CA gun laws ;)

  17. Ohio regulations are like being in another country when compared to Cali. It really seems so nice and easy.

If the weapon is accessible to the driver - FAIL. If there are rounds in the same vicinity as the weapon - FAIL. I dont drive a single vehicle with a trunk. I leave the weapons in one bag with a padlock on the bag. The ammo is in another separate padlocked bag. Sometimes I keep the unloaded mags in a third separate padlocked bag. Basically, because the vehicles have no trunk it is officers discretion. So, I dont give them any reason to discriminate. :spin::spin::spin:
