Car got sold tonight. New owner will be picking it up later in the week.
It's been fun, frustrating at times and met a bunch of new people both on-line and off who I now call my friends.
Thanks for sharing the journey and who knows our paths may cross again in Gen7 or maybe Gen 8
New owner is very lucky given how you take care of your vehicle! Plus it is unique, too.

It's sad to see you go. Thank you for all you have contributed in your time with the Legacy!
Seconded!

I have had my car for 9 months and have no scratches on any of the piano black trim. Fingerprints are a lot less of an issue than I thought too especially on the steering wheel having the piano black buttons. I use the buttons all of the time and fingerprints are never really noticeable.
Great to know - I'll be getting a 2018 Legacy (Liberty here in Australia) in a year or so and it will come with gloss black power window switch surrounds and I've been dreading that!
-
No doubt it'd look nice, but don't expect it to stay looking nice. My mom's new forester came with it from the factory, only has 500 miles on the clock and it was already scratched and smudged to heck. Wrapped it with some brushed look vinyl because it was so bad, especially around the gear shift.

Looks really good!
Did you wrap the area around the gear shift too? Any tips on how to do that? Did you disassemble the centre console or wrap it in place?

It will show up dust, fingerprints and be very susceptible to scratches but would look nice when clean.

Just out of interest, what sort of K's did you get out of the Dunlops?
No idea - fitted the Potenzas when the car had only done 11,000km (roughly 7000mi for you yanks ). Still plenty of tread left on the Dunlops.
-
Thanks for that review. I'm not due for tyres for a while, but I've been watching the various tyre reviews for future reference, because I intend to change from the factory Dunlops as well. I don't want to start another new "'tyre discussion" but I would be interested if Michelin was on your list of possible replacements for the Dunlops, because going on various reviews I've seen on numerous sites, they were looking good to me ..... but I am happy to take on board your comments on the Potenzas.
When I was looking at tyres I searched the Michelin website but they didn't list any tyres in 225/50R18. However I just checked their website again and they do list Primacy 3 in this size. Not sure why it didn't come up a few months ago. I have a friend who swears by Michelin tyres but I would still have gone with the Potenzas as I've had such good experiences with them and I'm more than happy with my purchase - could well be the best $700 I've ever spent!

I replaced the factory Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres with the same Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres that came with my previous two Libertys (Australian market). The Bridgestones are slightly quieter on coarse road surfaces than the Dunlops but what I wasn't expecting was how much better the ride is. On the Dunlops, the car would 'crash' over deeper potholes and recessed man-hole covers - but now the larger hits are smoothed off nicely. You're still aware that you ran over a pothole but now it's not as jarring and harsh as before.
I definitely recommend the Potenzas as a worthwhile upgrade for Aussie drivers.
-
Thanks tigger. The Potenza RE050As on my first Liberty (gen 4) lasted 35,000km. I did 40,000km in my gen 5 and the RE050A tyres on that car still had quite a bit of tread when I traded it. Interesting to see the life of the RE003s.
-
Are the Bridgestone RE003's as quiet as the Goodyears & therefore quieter than the Dunlops were?

Ivory looks great against red!

denokarter, those could be my all-time favourite wheels on a 6th Gen Liberty. (Sorry, Legacy.)
Kudos!

Given stock the 3.6R runs 7.2sec 0-100km/hr (claimed), my guess is that with a tune they will be running mid 6's.
From my own experience I found the performance figure published in the brochure a little optimistic for the 2.5i. So if the 3.6R is the same I'd be guessing that in reality it's running mid-7's and I'm guessing that you may get a ~1sec improvement with a tune.
We need RobbieGT to put his car back to stock and do some before/after tests
I used a gps to determine the speedo differential from the real speed, then video recorded the speedo on some 0-100km/h runs and found I was getting times around 7.2-7.3 sec with one occupant, a/c off & a full tank of fuel.
My previous gen 5 3.6R was getting 6.9-7.0 sec.
-
Just pulled off the highway in this picture. Not sure if Matt tricked my 3.6r into thinking it's supposed to take fuel like an H4, but I'm very happy. I've yet to get the 91/93 tune yet but I'll update once I have!

Do you happen to have a GPS acceleration timer, or access to one? I'd be interested in what acceleration times you can achieve with the tune on a 3.6R.

Dumb question: if 6 ohm resistors are required per bulb to fix hyper-flashing, would putting two sets of 6 ohm resistors in line with the rear bulbs and none with the fronts achieve the same end result?
-
Hmmmm... has anyone on the forum had a 3.6R tuned yet?
-
These were $113 each or $226 for the set of 2. I decided not to go with the OEM 3.6R pads as these were quite expensive compared to aftermarket alternatives which perform as good as or better and are less dusty. So I've got some Intima SS pads coming soon.
Wow, that's pretty cheap! By comparison I'm paying $180 for a piece of plastic!

How much were the rotors, tigger? I myself have a part waiting for me at the dealership to pick up tomorrow too.
-
Yes that's correct, it is my opinion but you must also realize it's also tigger's personal opinion that the gains are satisfactory.
Tigger is not using his opinion to put down other people on this thread, so he is not being offensive nor rude towards other forum members.
Other people are using their opinion to accuse Tigger of lying.
There is a big difference.
-
A 2.0 second improvement in 0-60 is phenomenal.
I'm glad you agree that Tigger has had great success!
-
But my point stands, down tuning or not you can't beat physics and for the gains it's not even worth exploring that much.
Well, that is your opinion. Tigger has actually *done* the tune and *driven* the car after the tune and he's very happy with the result.
To everyone else bashing Tigger's decision to tune his car, YOU HAVEN'T DRIVEN HIS CAR so what makes you think you are qualified to pass judgment on the improvements he's seen? It's like writing a review and passing judgment on a movie - when you haven't actually watched the movie.

Jeez, did you wash and wax your Legacy at the airport??
I know, it looks stunning!

Success !!!!! After months of searching for a used Starlink Navigation from a Premium trim Legacy / Outback I finally found one at a junkyard in Pennsylvania. The installation is pretty straight forward and really only takes 5 minutes, no joke! I can only confirm that this works on a 2015 Subaru Legacy Premium (without Nav already installed) but don't see why it won't work on a Outback / or Limited trim. Total price for the install was $480 (Nav for $420, GPS for $60) Nav works great, I even called at got a Sirius XM Traffic subscription on it. Follow the steps below to DIY -
Well done!!! I am very impressed with your achievement. I would be far too scared to try anything like this.

So turn the assistance systems off. Then it won't take any fun out of your spirited driving.
You're wrong. On mine at least, if you switch a system off it remains off the next time you start the car.
